best android phone -htc one - One (M7) General

June issue of Stuff India has listed htc one as best buy among smartphones

The One gets my vote. Never have I been so satisfied with a phone purchase. The battery is superb, the speakers are great, screen is bright, camera is fastest I've ever used in a phone, and the construction is flawless. I haven't noticed one flaw with this phone other than blink feed needing expanded news sources or a manual way of entering.

SGS Final Review

So for me its an end of an era. I just sold my i9000 away and I'll be honest, it wasnt easy letting it go.
The SGS in my opinion was Samsungs best phone at the time it was released and arguably the best phone period. After a full year of hard usage I can say it was my privilege to have owned it.
First off a huge thank you to XDA for being a fountain of knowledge and a source for phone enthusiasts to join, people that love their great phones but still want them better. Second another great thank you to the guys that put together CM7. CM7 transformed my phone into a beast and I can tell you the interface is so responsive it rivals my current i9100. Then there is the customizations and features found only in CM7. There is something about the ability to rotate a phone 180 degrees, or swipe to remove a notification, or the ability to customize things like status bar colors that go to show that a lot of time and passion was invested into that project.
The i9000 itself has many pros and cons, but definitely more pros but I'll only nail the big rocks for me. The display is top notch and for me is a step up compared to its competition. There is something about the screen on the Atrix that just looks washed. The gorilla glass has withstood a full years worth of usage and still I'd rate it at 9.8/10 with only two tiny tiny dings. I've never had any problems with reception and the 16gb on board was more than enough for anything I ever used.
As far as the negatives there was a few glitches but I'm convinced they are all software related as new carrier releases or CM7 removed them. The physical make of the phone could have been improved, the backing never seemed to fit perfect and the phone itself just seemed to look like an imitation of an iPhone. The gps sucked and the phone should have come with an LED for the camera. Then lastly there was the constant battle for my more battery life. I used tasker, I used battery stat applications and I constantly made configurations but in the end my conclusion is... crappy battery life is a fact of life.
Despite the list of negatives the phone still rocked. The fact that the phone isnt perfect only highlights that Android only has one way to go and I'm excited to see where that is.
A quick comparison with my i9100. Hands down the i9100 is way faster of a phone. It has an LED light and the GPS actually works, not great but still works. The battery still sucks but IS better than the i9000. For me the 4.3 inch screen is the perfect size and the phone itself just looks better. BUT altogether its still just next years model. If you have the extra funds then sure, but I do not recommend dumping the money for this phone unless you require the speed/led/gps which for me are not deal breakers. Personally I had a $200 credit (min $400 purchase) that was expiring and I had nothing else on my wish list.
Nice review!, but to address your cons:
GPS on the latest Google Maps w/ Angry GPS IMO works pretty well.
For battery the Samsung Armani 1650mah (same physical size as stock) picks up the slack and IMHO makes this the best battery live I have ever used on Android...

S8 user who have been long time HTC fans

Hi,
Dont flame me, but i am really interested to hear from long time HTC users who have recently switched to the S8 camp and what they like since switching, but also what they miss!
Design looks great and the view from recent HTC converts will give me a better insight on joining the S8 club or hanging out for the HTC U 11?
Thanks in advance.
I am a long time HTC fan ...hero to m9 and had to make the switch....first thing I noticed with s8/s8 plus is that within a text message if you attempt to attach a picture that you are going to use the camera , you don't have any options to use flash nor will the phone detect if it's dark enough to use flash...

Im hard core android fan, so i have used all the high end models from Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony, i had a few phones from Huawei and Xiaomi too. All phones have + and -, but Samsung was always the most reliable of all. If you change your phone every 2 years with contracts, my advice is to jump on the Samsung ship, you will be happy, but you have to believe in XDA power for the software updates, i guess it wont be problem for you Forget about cameras, design, battery life and so on, all the high end phones does the same work + - some minor differences which you wont even see if you dont put all phones next to each other. The main PLUS for Samsung is the massive amount of people who buys them. XDA is full of mods, roms, kernel, themes etc. for Ss and Notes. This gives you the chance to have the lastest top notch stuff not only in the moment of buying, but in future too.
I've had the original Desire (branded Nexus One), Galaxy Nexus, One M7, One M8 and now the S8. So while I'm not exactly a hard-core fan of HTC, it's fair to say I've liked their phones in the past.
My impressions of moving from the M8 to the S8 are very positive. What kept me away from Samsung in the past was the klunky, laggy and cartoonish software and the physical buttons and their order. Also, until a few years ago, the ugly design and build.
From my point of view it's safe to say that with the S8 they've addressed all of these issues. The stock software (touchwiz, yes it's still called that is you check the default launcher in settings) looks and works great (until now) with some theme options (not nearly as many or as versatile as HTC's Sense), the design, build quality, screen (with "correct" virtual buttons) are top notch. All the gimmicky features you don't like you can turn off in the (very convoluted) settings app.
The fingerprint scanner is trash. Even though I can reach it easily (big hands) alot of the times I come from an off angle and it doesn't register correctly every time. The Iris scanner works great and makes up for it (some times).
The speaker is nice and loud, but you have no bass and it's easily muffled (way less of an issue than you might think).
And it gives you a very uneasy, fragile feeling, so you kind of need a case for peace of mind, but then you cover up the gorgeous design that is most of the reason you buy the phone in the first place.
All in all, I'm very happy with it and I would recommend it to anyone, along with a nice case probably.
Hope this helps.
I have had a ton of Htc devices. I think the first one I had, was the touch HD. I still have the Htc 10. The only thing I miss is the audio performance. Specifically the the dac and amp. But this S8 is one of the only phones I have ever owned, that I just take out of my pocket, to just look at it.
I am a hard core htc user for years, I tried the s6 for a month and returned it because I hated the front but now the s8 front is absolutely fantastic, I am waiting for the htc 11 on the 16th but if they frack out the audio with a useless usb c to 3.5mm adapter or if the price is ridiculously high, I will be tempted by the s8. I hope samsung will release red tint free batches

Had HTC 10, came to S8. The S8 hardware is nice. The software is... Whatever. I rather have HTC/stock Android

Tell me why I should buy the Axon Mini

Hello to all,
I've been eyeing this device and while I want the Sony Xperia X, something tells me to abandon that ship and buy the Axon Mini 7. Tell me guys what would be your top three most liked things about this device and why. Aside from the obvious of course. I've heard the sound is amazing for one. Tell my or let me know what I'm about to buy this week. It's one Android that I've yet to test out nor have I tested it in a store or laid eyes on it in person. Help is much appreciated.

Dear Undecided
I have had this device since Christmas and use it as my daily device. Here are a few reasons why I love it and was glad to have jumped boat from HTC (The M9).
The first big thing is the sound quality, it sounds amazing in the palm of your hand. My wife has the Galaxy S7 edge and yes, that phone is loud, but not clear and not stereo and poor for using for media not through headphones. The Dolby Atmos is perfect and can be tuned to your own liking.
The second best thing is the fact that it works brilliantly with most if not all apps from the play store. It's a good device and will soon be upgraded to Android 7.1.1 Nougat so it will be running the most up-to-date software.
Third thing is the options of alternative launchers. In my opinion, this device seems to want to customised. The software blends well with all the launcher's I've tested (and trust me I've put them all though their paces)
Now to tell you about the cons.
Battery isn't that amazing but will last a good day with medium usage. It will die quickly with heavy graphics games and powerful hi Def video. But this is quashed with the fact the power brick with the device charges it dam quickly. Take that if you put the device in charge at say 20% and go have dinner, it will be at least up to 90% by the time youve eaten.
The processor can be slow sometimes but that's all I can say having never had any issues with it. Seems to run just fine with me.
Memory is upgradable via a micro SD card and it supports up to 128gb extra (rumoured to extend to 512gb with the update)
Its a really excellent and well designed device...personally in my opinion, so much better then it's competition and so deserving of much more attention and exposure. Get this over the Sony any day.
That's what I needed to hear! Get this one over the Sony any day plus that the software is smooth. Then there is that premium sound. I know the battery life isn't going to be like my Moto Z Play so I'm prepared for that. That's exactly what I was after and you helped me decide on getting it. I appreciate you brother.

Had my axon 7 mini about four weeks now and installed the firmware upgrade shortly after opening the box.
Whilst this is possibly one of the best phones available at the moment it does "or at least mine" have a few hiccups, first the screen froze displaying a picture of the web page I was viewing, it was several hours before I managed to get the phone to reboot, this has happened again twice.
Another hiccup is the phone will randomly reboot, I was texting when this happened the first time since then it has rebooted itself twice whilst no action was taking place I.e just sitting on the table.
Called their hotline "not in uk" advice is it could be an app issue, but ALL apps are optimised on boot up, next backup, factory and reinstall, can't see that working, if it's an app problem you're just re-installing the problem.
Apart from that it's a great phone.
Stock camera app is better than the other camera app I have purchased from the store, no bloatware and only essential apps installed.
I purchased this phone from Amazon (Im in the UK)
Owned the phone for 6 months now,
Here is my long review.
The Axon 7 Mini overall is a great phone for the price I paid for, there are Lots of pros and lots of cons with this phone.
- It has a beautiful 5.2 inch screen which is enjoyable to use, very responsive and no problems at all.
-The fingerprint scanner at the back is honestly one of the best scanners I have personally used, sometimes (Very little) it likes to play about such as if I am at the gym and very sweaty, it will not recognise my fingers (Not a big deal for me though) but overall a great scanner.
- The look and feel of the phone is beautiful, I have had some compliments from friends who ask me what phone it is and Then they like to hold it and touch it. The phone itself feels very strong and looks fantastic, it really does stand out from other phones especially with front facing Speakers!
- The Speakers on the phone are one of the loudest speakers on a phone out on the market today, If I am watching a video and the volume is half way, it is Still very loud for me which I love!, it uses Dolby Atmos which sounds crystal clear once turned on (Although their are disadvantages which I will discuss later) Listening to music is great on this device.
-The selfie and the back camera on this phone are great in daylight conditions but when light starts to get darker they are not so great. the selfie camera is a great quality camera if you are out and about and there is plenty of daylight, no lag at all, beautiful quality, same with the back, but when it comes to evening and night time, that's when the camera's really lack quality, The pictures aren't the best which is all I can say although ZTE Released an update I believe in January which included a Night mode setting which isn't really great. I would not recommend this phone if anyone is interested in mainly picture taking. If, like me you like to take pictures with friends out and about then and now, then This camera is good enough.
-The interface of the phone is Great to use, it has lots of gestures and motions to play around with, this includes answering calls by laying your finger on the scanner, speech volume control on videos (Do not use it) glove mode (Which honestly is fantastic!) and more!
-At first when I started using this phone, completely no jitter or no lag at all, once I started downloading apps and using more RAM that's when the phone starts to act up, freeze or even shuts down apps (Which I really hate!) This doesn't happen all the time but it is starting to happen more especially with Facebook and Snapchat.
-Voice quality is excellent, nothing bad to say, does what it is meant to do
-It has the option of fitting 2 sim cards, or 1 sim card and 1 SD Card (which is my option).
- The battery isn't great, although the phone comes with fast charging which I cannot complain about! I regularly use the phone day to day (not too heavy) and I am confident I do not have to take my charger with me, usually listening to music, using Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat and a few more apps. Although if you are a heavy user of this phone, I do recommend taking your charger with you everywhere you go. in terms of battery levels this is probably the worst phone I have owned.
-The phone I believe still has some bugs in it, this includes using Dolby Atmos, I like to use my bass higher in my music but when I do, the slider resets to 50%, everything resets after either locking the phone or closing the Dolby atmos app (Not impressed!)
My final statement is that if you can afford to purchase the bigger brother (Axon 7) then honestly go for that one, more RAM, 2K Screen, better snapdragon processor, you name it. I was on a tight budget which is Why I purchased this phone but still a great purchase.
Honestly I could go on forever about this phone.
half decent phone but with snail pace updates

Got the phone yesterday and what can I say, it's an amazing phone.
Great to hold, the screen is world class, the camera's are fast and produce quality photo's even in low light.
The speed is amazing.
As for updates, it's had one already.
Highly recommended.
I've had the update just show up now - im installing it as we speak.
What are you comparing it to?
Great phone, but no native gallery or music apps? Ok, it is a pure android but still...

Google Photos and Google Play Music.. Photos wants to upload everything to cloud, you can say no or just upload it if you are ok with cloud. Haven't checked if you get unlimited Google Photos space with this like you get with Nexus. Google Play Music will automatically add stuff you put into Music folder in the phone. Tested with few .flac files and they automatically appeared in Play Music.
Nokia 8
Pros :
Build quality
Display.. The best in price segment
Processor and and no lag at all
Pricing
Brand image
Doesn't get heated even after heavy usage
Cons:
Camera app
May be design is not 2017 model
One thing worried me from the reviews and that was the accuracy and speed of the fingerprint sensor which was supposed to be poor. Coming from an HTC 10 with an excellent sensor I was concerned. I've been glad to find the review opinions is absolute hogwash. The Nokia sensor is every bit as accurate and fast as you'd expect it to be in a flagship.
Really want to get the Nokia 8, can someone coming from the Galaxy S6 tell me two things
1. How does the camera compare to the S6
2. In the Galaxy s6 there is a private mode where some notes and pictures are hidden from view. Is there a similar facility in the Nokia 8, not interested in a different app for this.

I have both HTC10 and N8 and fingerprint sensor on HTC is a bit faster and snapier.
As for my personal opinion about N8:
Superb build quality and overall specs. Camera is a bit dated but we will see what will upcoming updates bring. Pure android experience after coming from device like HTC M7, 10 is really meeeh. Lack of configuration, stock apps are just really simple. No weather app preinstalled. Google calendar is a complete **** as far as UI goes comparing to aftermarket solutions. Stock google dialer and contacts are also unimpressive.
Stock N8 launcher is also meh so I bought Nova couple of minutes after playing with the phone.
Hidden option to show percentage batter is a joke, you need to have magnifying glass to see the values *inside* the battery icon, lol.
So far the biggest drawback is lack of screen color calibration and night mode. This should be included in any moder phone. N8 screen should be a little warmer.
Overall I am really happy with this phone and my family member is happy even more. She can get used to all things that I consider drawbacks. If it would not be for a lack of out of the box config options I would actualy rate N8 higher that my beloved HTC10 which I consider one of the best devices ever made for my personal preferences like build quality, finger sensor on the front and hardware buttons below the screen.

I'm the opposite I prefer the pure experience. On both HTC one and 10 I ran stockish custom ROMs to keep os up to date because let's face HTC didn't. That's my hope for Nokia that maybe just maybe I won't need to do that.
I never bothered with updating every month since I was and still am running custom roms on my HTC10 and previous devices so I just wait patiently for new update and switch every 2-3 update. I think if I would run stock, for me it would be enough to have only one update before switching to new Android version. I really do not care about the monthly security updates just because I am ignorant and do not feel compromised. Having phone memory and storage encrypted + password locked device on boot and lockscreen is enough security. So I do not bash HTC for being slow and lazy with updates.
But I completely understand people, who would want to have updates as often as possible and that is why Nokia is a better choice. It is faster to update stock android rather than branded one like with HTC and optional carrier branding.

In my opinion HTC needed to commit to the monthly updates. For me being stuck on June update in November on last year's flagship was the last straw. Too many major security flaws in that period being left unpatched. HTC themselves made a point of being near stock for fast updates then failed to deliver. Google will eventually take over fully.
I've had the phone for 2 days. My first powerful Android phone, upgrading from BB bold 9000. So I might be biased. The overall experience is good.
So in the UK the Nokia 8 was £400, absolute bargain for a phone with THAT processor and THAT screen. But Nokia was still an unknown quantity with android. In the end I decided to buy the Nokia 8 with a 14 day exchange policy. It was too good of a price to pass over and I ain't letting Samsung and iPhone rob me for £600 plus.
The best thing is the pure stock android and overall performance it really is as fast as any android phone except the Pixel 2. Battery was good enough; you have to consider that there's that 2k screen. The 2k screen looks great for an LCD although there's really no need for 2k if it's at the expense of battery life. But yeah the pros of this phone are definitely the screen quality and performance.
On to the bad stuff. First thing I didn't like are the dimensions of the phone; I've used bigger phones but this doesn't feel right in the hand, too wide for the height imo. Next thing is the camera, I don't care for the extra stuff I just want a good point and shoot camera; this phone sucks in that regard. Really slow and really underwhelming quality considering how it was marketed. Next, the fingerprint sensor. It's just too small and it led to it misreading enough to become frustrating. Even when it reads my fingerprint it unlocks much slower than the competition. This the deal breaker for me. The quick glance screen was very basic, only showed text and call notifications no WhatsApp notifications I dunno it just annoyed me.
In the end I returned the phone and paid 100 extra to get the Pixel 2, absolutely outstanding phone but that's for another review.
To conclude the Nokia 8 is a very underrated phone and provides great value for money. But I wanted a phone that I can use for the next 2-3 years without frustration and Nokia just didn't do it for me.

I've had loads of misreading issues on 8.0.
8.1 fixed it.
Also, as you saying. Fingerprint sensor is twice faster on 8.1 beta.
I'm considering buying another Nokia 8 that's how much I like this phone
Pros
The display is amazing for LCD + no AMOLED burn in
Speaker is louder than my iPhone 7 plus
Battery is good
Stock android 8.1
Smooth/fluidity/fast
Price
Daytime pictures
Headphone jack
Micro SD card
Cons
Lowlight pictures
Fingerprint sensor location and odd shape/size
Vibration/haptic isn't that strong
Shape of phone (it's not so fun to hold vs say my moto g5 plus) awkward shape
Back metal doesn't feel like metal, more like plastic
Great great phone. And yes you can tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p. Even at a distance. Try changing the resolution to 1080p in adb using same way with xz premium to 4k, you will notice the fuzz from 1080p to 1440p
its a great phone when it was locked and without root, now that mine is rooted, lets see what it can do !
The fact you can get this now from carphone warehouse here in the UK for £300, like I did on Monday, is unbelievable. The absolutely blows anything else for that price and up to the OnePlus 5 out of the water. I haven't been this happy with a device in a long time and in 2017 I had a lot of devices. It's only £70 more than the Moto G5s plus. There's no contest.

I am not at all happy that I bought the HTC U11+. Overall, this phone is a 7 out of 10 at best. I am on T-Mobile and not happy. I have been with HTC since 2009. And was always impressed. The last phone was the HTC One. This U11+ is simply unreliable.
Calls: When I call people they are frequently unable to hear me on the first call. Maybe they do hear me on the second call. We do hear each other if they call me back.
Gmail: Frequently, the gmail app does not load properly. It will give me a white screen. I go out, and come back in, and we are fine.
Battery: It lasts about 30 hours. But I am not a heavy user, and do try to keep location turned off.
Speaker: Sometimes caller does not hear me via speaker phone.
T-Mo tech support said that this phone does not have LTE 1900. Therefore I am operating on 4G 1900. That is not T Mo's sweet spot.
Did I complain enough? I can give you a fresh one. I came back to xda seeking root options, but I think it is a bit early for devs. But they do always save the day. So, only love for this community.

I concur the Gmail bug. Also, the notifications drawer, in the home screen, takes several tries to come down when you pull it down from the centre of the screen. Finally, sometimes, the auto-brightness does not do its job with the brightness very low.
Apart from that, the rest is worthy it.

Sorry to hear you are not enjoying the device. I was concerned about my mobile signal and speed so I downloaded LTE Discovery app.
My U11+ never shows that I am on LTE on the status bar. It always shows 4G. LTE Discovery app shows I am connected to band 4 LTE and speed test shows the same ball park up / down speeds as my Pixel here in SF.
I like this phone ALOT but unsure if I will keep it for the long haul.
I live in the UK and the phone works perfectly fine even though is the Hong Kong version. People in the US should know that this phone was not meant to be sold there.
I am using Taiwan model of this phone on Tmobile in bay area and have none of the issues mentioned above by pklunavat. This phone has a score of 11 on 10 for me. Excellent phone in every regard. See my impressions/review thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-u11/how-to/impressions-review-phone-small-episodes-t3714841
This is the best phone I have ever had. Better than the U11. It offers great performance, design and features.
I love the Sound over Earphones 1++++++
I'm loving this phone
Brightness is good for me, night filter built in is nice to have
Edge sense carousel is great, and I've had no problems as mentioned above
However, I'm disappointed with the camera. It got really good reviews, but it seems that any shot with motion in it comes out blurry
Shots of buildings or landscapes are great, but when I try to take pictures of my kids, it's blurry. Apparently a lot of new smartphone manufacturers are concentrating on HDR processing rather than getting bigger sensors. A friend with an iPhone 8 has the same problem, as does another friend with the Pixel 2 XL.
I'm trying the Google Camera Port on my U11+, hopefully it will show some improvement....

Agreed. I Live in Australia and purchased the Taiwan version. Works like a charm. Love this phone!
Well, do I love it? I do like it a lot. I'm coming from the HTC 10 which I really loved but in the end the battery wasn't up to scratch anymore.
The U11+ is large, almost too large for my jeans pockets but that's not surprising, the phone dimensions were no secret. I got the hyped transparent black version and I like it but I think it's far overrated. Thanks to that ultra glossy glass back it's impossible to use the phone without a case, I'm using a cheap transparent flexible bumper thing which does the job.
The battery life is great, it easily does 48 hrs (without any optimisation other that disabling News Republic) and more (actually more than 72hrs over Christmas when I hadn't used it much) with the same usage pattern of my old 10 which lasted about 10 hrs in the end and one full day when it was new so this is surely a great improvement. The screen of the 10 is the better one I woould say, especially that purple tint when scrolling doesn't look nice, but it's sharp, bright and the colours are good.
I haven't taken many photos but the few I took were at least as good as the already very good 10's camera. The earphones are amazing and so is the fingerprint scanner.
I won't say that I love it but as mentioned before, I like it a lot. I'm still happy that I haven't bought the 5T instead out of impatience! It's also still early into the phone's life, there hopefully will be a few more tweaks and improvements over time.
Coming from galaxy S8. I can say this is the best device that I have ever had. Last HTC device I was using was htc m9.
Used my U11+ for a week now and this is absolute a real good device, it's fast and design is perfect.
Hi, coming from HTC 10. In my opinion, the HTC 10 was a good phone. But the HTC U11+ is absolutely thrilling me. Usually I rooted all my HTCs directly, so far I don't really have any desire to do that, because the device does everything I need.
The sound is great, the battery is excellent. The whole thing is completely stable and I personally find squeezing phenomenal, especially with Edge Sense Plus.
I just returned my Pixel 2 XL for the annoying blue tint and pretty happy so far, not regretting at all.

So while I'm considering the U11+ for its not so absurd price, you're telling me that you got from the Pixel 2 XL to this phone? Nice to know.

I was originally intended to buy the U11+ since I heard the rumors about its existence and that it was meant to be the Pixel 2 XL, so I was curious about what kind of device was this.
For things of life, I finished buying the Pixel 2 XL with a nice discount like 3 weeks ago.
Since the first time I turned on the device, I knew I was not going to be happy because of the screen and the annoying blue tint. I think people out there who diminished the problem is because they are not used to good screens or they are blind, and moreover, when they tell you "I look the phone straight forward", is bull5sh1t as well, because I faced plenty of situations when I couldn't see the phone straight forward and it was annoying.
People can say you can have the best camera, the best software updates, unlimited space for photos and videos, no lag, etc, but let me tell you that all of those "selling points" for the Pixel are not that good:
Best camera - Honestly, I made a photo comparison between the U11+ and the Pixel 2 XL, and in 7 of 10, the HTC was better and with more detail, text was more legible and forms were sharper. I think that HTC learned something after making every Pixel so far, but when I show the pictures, people just blame me and say I'm crazy. Video on Pixel was horrible and the audio extremely poor. The difference in aperture indeed makes a difference, even when it seems a small one.
Software updates - Yes, you have them, but guess what?, it breaks compatibility sometimes with apps. With the Pixel 2 XL I had a lot of force close applications, so what's the point of having the latest release if Google is not obligating developers to update their applications timely?. Yes, 3 years of software updates, but honestly, who stays with the phone for 3 years?.
Photos and video - I don't use Google or any other storage service to have all my photos and videos. I'm old school, and I put everything is a hard drive. I think is safer, besides, I don't like that certain things of my private life are around in the internet.
But the screen is not the only issue, I faced a lot of other hardware and software issues along the way, and thanks to the extremely bad quality control from LG and Google, the device you are getting is overall mediocre quality. I was expecting to receive a device with no serious bugs and well built because it a phone directly from Google, but the reality is totally another one.
Overall, I faced the following issues that made me return this phone:
Blue tint
Slow fingerprint sensor
Super slow "fast" charge (taking no less than 3 hours)
Bluetooth issues while streaming music
Problems with Android Auto
Banding while recording video
Awful sound and video quality
Coming from the Mate 9 Pro, one of the finest devices I have ever had, was a big hit for me to change to the Pixel 2 XL because all of these issues. Each time I saw the screen, it just made me sad and made me wonder: why a €1K phone have these kind of issues?, and moreover, what kind of idiot am I to buy and accept something like this with all these flaws?. Google is not getting my money this year, and believe me when I say that I'm a Google fan, but quality and product overall is not in pair with what most flagships are offering.
Still I see why people is buying and defending the Pixel, and in the moment I was packing it to return it, I felt bad, like if I was betraying Google or the ideology. At some moment I felt fear to return it and better keep it and accept the flaws, but that makes me no different from all the iSheeps you see out there that buy everything that comes with an Apple logo in the back, something that I clearly hate, because we are becoming zombies instead of intelligent consumers.
I have the U11+ for a week now and I can say I feel home again, is like having my old Mate 9 Pro, but with Android stock, and I haven't faced any issues AT ALL, just perfect, smooth and awesome behaviour. I can highly recommend the device.
P.D.: Sorry for the long post.
I have been using the U11+ since December 21st and I love it. The phone is very fast, has a very good display and a great design. The only negative side is that it needs a bit more care when holding it in the hand not to fall.
Overall, this is a great phone and it is the best HTC has ever made.
Hi guys,
Do you know if we get the full Oreo functionality and features? I know about PIP which requires a subscription to Youtube, do we get anything else? I read that Smart Text doesn't work in the U11 section...

Smart Text is not working from me, and I didn't notice it until you mentioned it.
PiP is working for me with maps in driving mode.
Besides that, I haven't noticed much.
