Would there be any issues flashing from one region to another in odin? If so, what is the best ROM to use?

Hi everybody,
What is the difference between 1-file ROM and 4-file ROM? I´ve heard 4-file ROM are more stable than the 1-file ROM with all in the same file.
Thank you very much!!
Could you show examples of 2 different rooms that use this?

In sammobile most ROMs are 1-file, and for example the 4.3 leak in the same web was 4-file ROM.

its only how they're packed theres no difference at all,
sometimes they load everything into AP or they seperate into CSC etc.
its how samsung does and not sammobile
I have read that 3 or 4-file ROMs do "wipe" automatically. (erase all data while flashing)
I mean, they make a "clean installation".
Thanks!

Anyone could confirm that?
Why 4-file ROMs delete all data while flashing and 1-file ROMs do not?
Thanks!!
The only difference is that the 1-file "rom" is packed to contain the 4-file. There is really no difference. The only difference could be that the 1-file doesn't contain a .pit file.

Don't think that's the case but I can't confirm that. Usually it depends on if there's a script inside that makes it wipe

The CSC file in the multi-part rom wipes the phone.

Thanks to all.
So, ROMs in one file don´t have CSC file? I thought the files inside were the same in both ROMs.
Thanks!!
Correct. Get a 1 part rom from Samfirmware, unzip it & open up the tar.md5 with 7Zip/similar; no CSC file.

Thank you very much!! Can I flash a CSC file and 1-file ROM at the same time to change the CSC product code of the phone? And match it with the CSC of the firmware.
If it is possible, how can I know the compatibility between CSC files and the 1-file ROM I want to install? All are compatible between them?
Thanks in advance!
I guess, but generally you just flash the whole multipart rom. You're just unnecessarily complicating things (why people here do this I don't know).
What is it exactly you're trying to do/achieve ?

I´m from Spain and I have a S4 carrier branded. So, I have the CSC from the spanish carrier, not the global spanish code (PHE).
The phone is sim-unlocked by IMEI, and now I would like to have the PHE code in both firmware and handset, to get PHE updates through Kies and OTA in the future.
I know some apps to change the CSC, but they require root. Which is the best way of doing that without root?
I´m thinking about flash 1-file PHE ROM from Sammobile with a CSC file PHE (although I don´t know where I could find this CSC file).
Thank you very much again!!!

Sure.
Just flash the CSC file first. It changes your pit.

out of curiosity, can i enable LTE in network mode without rooting and changing specific lines in root explorer?

IT WORKED !! thanks alot, followed step 1-6 from your 2nd signature thread then i went on to flash malaysia 4.4 firmware. Now i get LTE connections. thanks again
Want to do this right, so thought i would ask before diving in.
found a new firmware update from sammobile.
got custom recovery, rooted, supersu and titanium.' backup.
if I flash via download mode and ODIN, will it wipe my phone?
how to do this right without loosing everything? just use titanium and backup system apps etc and give it a whirl?
It won't erase anything. But you will lose custom recovery and root. All apps will remain.
ah, excellent. then just rerootwith chainfire auto root and flash recovery again.. thanks..
Btw, I`m in norway. and noticed this release now, http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/41069/N910FXXU1ANK4_N910FTEN1ANK1_TEN.zip/
but it is more recent firmwares than this. would it be safe to flash a newer rom than this, f.ex an unbranded rom from italy etc? or would i be asking for trouble.?
You can flash newer from other regions with no problems.

Meant to reply and not to thank cause I don't agree with you. Csc is interchangeable.
As long as you don't try to downgrade and the firmware is for your specific model then no problems should arise. Been doing it for years with every samsung I have had since the original i9000. Don't know what you have done to come up with those problems.
The only way I see a problem is if you tried to flash a firmware that specifically was asking for a pit file to repartition and you didn't comply. Then yes, there I can agree.
And I'm always speaking of original firmwares.
Cheers

It is ok. Ty for your explanations but i still without agree with you :highfive:
Most of Europe uses the F model. Some countries import the C variant. If you flash the correct one for your model it won't cause you any problems. Doesn't matter if it's Italy's Germany's or any eu state just as long it is for the intended model. I don't know if it applies globally though.
If i set my phone info to original via wanam than i got software update, is it possible to update?

I coudn't install a firmware for a different CSC for my SM-N910H, it always fails at the end of odin flash, I am not the only one with this problem. I read somewhere that you can't install a ROM with a different CSC for some of Note 4 variants.
hello, i have some questions that stuck in my mind and i need an answer
first, i live in Algeria. and the coming I9505 are from different varies. i mean some are from Germany, and some from France (Orange)...Etc
so, here's my questions:
1. what worst can happen when i flash for example (I9505XXUHPK2) firmware, but the original phone firmware is (I9505XXUHOJ2)?
2. why Samsung made all these Basebands & Firmwares? and what's the difference between all these?
They are for different carriers/countries.
If your phone is carrier locked, and you flash the firmware from a completely different carrier, you will have no signal.

Okay, but there won't be any hardware issues? Or the phone won't even boot if I flash another firmware?

Hic
Can i flash any modem or bootloader to fix this ?
Flash stock rom and come back to this rom i am using, it takes a lot of time.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using XDA Labs
Sorry, I don't think flashing the bootloader will fix the problem and I'm not sure the modem has the csc information.
