Deleted contact service - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all, I did I mistake using titanium backup.
I deleted a service like storage service contacts i don't remember exactly the name) and now when I try to save a new contact phone contact crashes.
I'm using ME2 firmware..maybe someone could send me a titanium backup of the services in ME2,so I would be able to restore my missing service please?
thank you!

Hi,
Are you rooted?
Your best bet would be to re-flash the ROM.

Hi,
Just flashing the ROM without wiping anything, will just re-install all the files.
It will not affect your data or settings.

Hi,
Whatever you did in the first place.
That must have been ODIN.
Was it djembey's ROM?
Then, yes,use ODIN.

Hi,
I am fairly sure this will not affect your counter.
To be 100% sure, you should ask djembey in his thread.
Make sure you explain the circumstances when you do.

Thank you for you help, i solved the problem.
I dowloaded the rom and extracted the app i needed from /system/app/.
Then I copied it in my phone /system/app folder, restared the phone and now it's working perfectly!

imei cannot be restored by reinstalling stock firmwares... or any other firmwares for that matter.. u should have made a backup of your efs partition before doing any thing to your phone
there is a method to create a new efs partition with your original imei
search the forum u'll find it

hmmm...... this isn't a 100% working method...... but if you want you can try this.... it's just an idea .... but can work-
Following steps can help you:-
Flash Stock eclair i5801DDJ6 (It's under Asia firmwares) from Sam firmware. [This is the original firmware that our phone came with] here's the link - http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i5800.htm - you'll have to signup to download the firmware.....
the password for the zip file is Password is samsung-firmwares.com
if the imei still hasn't restored then..... disable usb debugging on the phone(if it is enabled that is) and update to froyo through kies.....
If still the problem persists....just take your phone to the samsung service station with the bill and all...... cook up a story and make an innocent face and they'll repair your phone for free! .........
btw if your wondering updating through kies unroots the phone completely so your warranty will still stand as the service centre people most probably won't be able to detect that you rooted or anything!!

If you have Samsung Kies installed there's an option for emergency recovery, and that's gonna restore your device to its original state. But beware that it also erases everything you've put on your phone.

Settings file is deleted?

Hello! I rooted my S4 today and installed the CWM recovery and flashed my new rom which is the Foxhound 2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303239. I have had my older device rooted and i have flashed couple roms with it (huawei ideos x5) and i didn't want to lose all my files and apps from my S4 while flashing this rom, so i didn't do the factory reset thing. I wiped my cache and dalvik cache and then i flashed my rom. As soon as i got it working i was hyped and so on but i noticed that the Settings app was missing. I looked via root explorer and it wasn't in the folder /system/app/. I looked from the magical internet and didn't find anything. Nothing at all. I tried installing some setting.apk's but none of them worked. I downloaded the stock android 4.2.2 rom and copied the settings.apk from there but no, it didn't do anything. I tried also installing those setting apk's but it says 'app not installed'. I had my backup of the android 4.2.2 in my phone but when i tried to restore it to my phone, it said something about m5 sum thing or what it was i don't remember. If you have any clue, please help. I'm lost and i need guidance.
Sorry if there is some bad English, i'm from Finland.
In cwm restore settings, uncheck the check md5 sum. It should then let you restore the nandroid
I messed it up

Download Odin ver 3.07. Download firmware for your device from sammobile.com. It'll be a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that file in Odin, PDA slot. Only have auto-reboot checked in odin.

Well you already know about this being the wrong place and a mod will probably move it for you but anyway I'll just suggest that you use ODIN to reflash your phone completely back to stock and see if that fixes it.

You said you reflashed your rom and restored your efs folder but in order to at least restore your efs folder it means you are still rooted and probably flashing through your custom recovery which means you didn't go back to complete stock. Just use ODIN, not your custom recovery to get back to complete stock. Don't flash any custom pre-rooted rom, just try the original from Samsung. If your phone begins to function normally then you can safely say it was something you did after you rooted that caused the problem. If I misunderstood what you're doing my bad but that's how it sounds.

It happened after I did factory reset

try patch from dr.ketan and make sure it is not locked by gsm operator - when someone lost phone, operator can lock the IMEI, so you will have useless toy...
Your imei number is generic, you need to restore the backup of your efs partition.
