[Q] Best CDMA Rom? - Xperia Play General

For those who have an R800x (CDMA) I was wondering what Roms do people recommend?

Well if you like gaming the stock gb. If you don't game very much go with cm9 or cm10. They have lots of cool features. PA is also a good jb rom.
But just so you know these threads aren't allowed and will be most likely closed soon. The is no best rom try them all to see what suits you blablabla.

[Q] Best Roms and Kernels?

Hello,
I just purchased a used white sim unlocked X10i that should hopefully arrive this Friday. I have been reading through the forums for about a week now and I would like to get the opinions of knowledgeable individuals as to which rom, kernel, optimizations, tweaks, tools and any other useful additions that you believe would be best regarding the X10. I need the 1700Mhz band functional. I am currently running an HTC mytouch slide overclocked with CM7.1 and S2E, which I will eBay as soon as I am up to speed on the X10i and have it running smoothly. I have looked through the “Q & A” and also the “All-in-one Consolidated” threads and found much info. The seller wasn’t sure if the phone has the latest, but I plan on making sure the phone has the latest official OS update for firmware (2.3.3?). The rooting & recovery I believe I have handled http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808&highlight=rooting+how+to I would like to run S2E or something like it.http://forum.xdadevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=1271284 Also, is it true that the X10 should only be overclocked to about 1,150Mhz?
Thank you all in advance.
Max overclock is 1.228ghz i think but it varies as not every X10 can handle it. You can test my ROM haha, its stock 2.3.3 with Tweaks, new Features, some 2.3.4 apps from new Xperia Arc S and its alot lighter then stock too but doesnt loose any funtionality, but alot nice ROMs are around here, Miui, CM and alot stock based ROMs, im sure you can find anything for your like.

[Discussion] ROM-Kernel combo for Xplay

Hi fellow Xplay users!
This is a thread to compare, discuss, what is the best or quite probably the optimum ROM-kernel combo for Xplay
Please, discuss and compare anything related to the edge of custom roms and kernels with each other
Since I have no experience to flash the custom ROMs and kernels(except DooM’s) by our developers here, so to start with..
What are the advantage/disadvantages/pros/cons of
latest official SE firmware + DoomLord’s kernel VS. Cyanogenmod + DooMlord’s kernel for CM7?
For me, im using the latest 2.3.4 R800i firmware + DoomLords kernel, and I’d say its doing great, what are the things CM7(or other rom) has to offer for Xperia play that would make me want to flash it? Just to make it another android phone out there?
Don’t get me wrong Ive used CM7 before, just not on Xplay (on my old Glaxy5) so I know the basic features, and I know its great, but whats in store for the XPlay?
And if somebody is kind enough to answer this question..
I really love the look and feel of Xperia play and the Sony ericcsson home, its gives its own unique flavour being a PS-certified android device, but the tweaks for CM7 is great, and is less on bloatware, now DoomLord powering the kernel for it too makes it perform better.
Can I extract the .apk files of Xperia Play app, Sony ericsson Home, playstation pocket from the latest firmware and install it to CM7? Just like that and it works like magic? A CM7 rom with Xperia Play feel? When I slide down the controller will the Xperia Play app work together with Get games? How about playstation pocket?
Is it possible for a custom ROM development merging the look and feel of Xperia Play to CM7 Rom?
Thanks!
previous roms
Metaphorically this should work. After using an android Rom on the HTC hd2 with the Sony home screen as far as I could see this had seemed to be what they did.

[Q] As you know there's no ICS for Xperia Play so

Is there any ICS un official software that's stable and has most the features like camera, calling, texting, 2G/3G, wifi, bluetooth and if possible the new face unlock?
I have rooted my Xperia play and now want to install custom software since sony has now ditched the Play sadly it could do with a few PS games or should i just sell this phone and get a new one with ICS?
There are lots of roms: CM9, AOKPlay, PlayOSP. I wouldn't buy another phone, because of all the ICS-based roms, but if you have enough money, it's up to you.
Honestly
I have yet to use an ICS based custom rom that doesn't decrease performance.
Your best bet is to use one of the many Xperia S builds as they offer the best speed and most of the features you would ever want anyways.
cheers for your posts guys. can you cross phone software like xperia S on xperia play? ill check out the roms you mentioned and install one. do you guys know if that face unlock feature works in them? i dont really want to buy a new phone i just bought the xperia play lol

For ICS I'd wait until the dust settles.
Given the flack Sony are taking on their social networking sites I wouldn't be surprised to see a turn around.
At any case, once the other 2011 Xperia lines are updated to ICS and there's stable running custom ROM's etc, you'll likely see some that are ported for the Play.

Best N7 ROMS?

Looking to get a N7 soon when the price drops start. Was wondering what do you guys think the best ROMs out so far are. Looking for silky smooth usage for the most part. Mainly will be used for web surfing, so whatever can make web pages load faster would be nice!
Will be using a different kernel that will allow better battery life as well.
So opinions on best ROMs? Would be nice if you've tried many recent ROM's to provide feedback on
If its mainly for surfing then stay on stock, install aosp browser as chrome is slow and switch to franco kernel.
A rom will not make amything faster only a kernel can. You can turn off animations to speed it up but even stock rom can do that.

I still want a different ROM. Such as Glazed Jelly bean, Paranoid or whatever they were. They were visually a lot more pleasing, and the ROMs themselves I believe were leaner as well?
Just wanted to see what everyone was using as their main ROM atm.
I really can't say there is a best ROM or even best kernel.. When I was new to Android a few years back I was a flashaholic.. OMG NEW ROM!!! AND IT HAS A COOL TITLE AND SLOGAN! MUST [email protected]!#@!! Now a days... I pick a ROM, I pick a kernel that looks like it's frequently updated, well maintained and has an engaging developer and stick with it. There really is no best.. Just the one that suites your needs.. Speed.. Eh.. Unless you're a benchmark or FPS junkie almost any ROM on the N7 is going to fly.. This tablet is a beast..
Just read the threads in development.. Look to see what's up to 4.1.2 standards, see what is frequently updated, see what users feedback is, see how the dev responds to feedback, look at the features... Pick three and try them out.. I guarantee one will trap you and that's the one for you.. It'll just hit you.. A ROM that is the `best' for me may not necessarily be the best ROM for you.

This is great advice! I've lost count of how many ROMs have been on my n7 now. I settle on one for a week or so, then get itchy feet and try another ;p Grass is always greener and all that!
I recommend stock rom ,stablet
I am using paranoid android. The screen looks much bigger in tablet mode + the option of expanded desktop. Combined with franco kernel its a winner. I use my device for gaming and now franco has gpu freq change on the fly so it suits me well.

I'm running cyanogenmod with Franco kernel, after having a lot of trouble from another rom. My advice is to make sure a rom has been out a a day or so and read the thread to make sure there are no major problems.

Guys, isnt there a similar thread already - > Which ROM are you running?
Thread Closed
There is no "best" ROM for a individual user. Different ROMs offer pro and cons, so it best for users to read the Development threads and make the own informed decision based on there needs. People often get a little over passionate about there preferred ROM, so these type of threads are best closed before the flames begin. The only exception to this is poll threads to determine the number of users using different ROMs.

Best ROM?!

Hi,
I was searching for a new ROM for my Sony Ericcson Xperia Arc S.
I saw few options but I still don't know what to decide.
I'm looking for something fast, stable, battery friendly.
Moreover, I don't want a ROM with bugs like: camera isn't working or so.
Thank you very much! :good:
Belive me...the stock GB .62 with init.d + cwm+ root it's perfect. You don't need more.... :good:
PS: if you want an alternative ICS rom you can try Beautiful ICS V4 ...All other ics rom are not good ..
Latest stock with JB Andreno libs

It is good Xperia Ultimate HD 2.0.3

There no such thing as a "best ROM" as you'll see from the responses on all the other best ROM threads. And if you want one with this or that then read what's included and what isn't from the ROM info and make your own mind up.

These questions wandered me as well but not right now.
If you are looking to give new life to your Xperia Arc S then I'd suggest to go for Xperia Ultimate HD 2.0.3 (optimized for gaming, transparent looks, butter smooth etc)
Want to just experience a custom ROM then you go for Xperia Pureness, Revolution HD, Beautiful ICS and others. I have personally tried these roms and of those I found XUD 2.0.3 to be far better than the others (again its my opinion )
Now the choice is yours
There is no such thing as "Best Rom". ROMs are created and optimized for different uses depending on the user's preference.

the "Best ROM" is the one that works best for you. Each ROM may respond differently to each person, depending on what apps they have installed, the hardware itself can even cause differences. Your best bet is to read, read, and read some more. Then try one, and another until you find one that works great for you..
