some people here say they loose their IMEI numbers...i must say that is not the case for me.
i just want to know if taking a backup of the EFS is enough if i should loose my IMEI (dont even know how they loose it though - formatting?)

There's a windows program EFS Professional which will backup all relevant partitions. Just search for it around xda. I have used it and work ok for my i9505.
Ok I found it

Hey all. For some reason i renamed my cwm backup, and now i want to restore and i get a md5 check fail. Any way to restore anyway? Or maybe its not related to that, then what it is?
Thanks

And no i dont know what the name was before, neither i know the date and time.

Nobody knows? Im surprise!
Is there a way to skip the md5, or a way to know the original name?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
make another one... and copy/paste the name in the one you want, for the date and time it should be in the file properties.
just guessing...

I'm afraid you can't unless you know the original filename.
Don't forget to press thanks if I helped you!
are there any spaces if so replace with underscores if that doesn't work the backup might be bad... cwm is a terrible recovery I wish I could use TWRP or amon_RA

Hello,
Unfortunately my i9505 fall on the ground couple of days ago. Good news: no damage at the case.
Bad news my GPS not work until this.
On upcoming Monday I receive a new i9505 from my provider.
I have a lot of modding done to my actual i9505 and would like to install an backup of it to the new one.
Which points I have to pay attention to while doing a backup. Is it possible because if the imei, efs?

Thats a good question, you can also restore the backup via titanium backup? But that will restore only the apk+data

This kind of crap belongs in the general section NOT THE DEV SECTION!!! Try harder next time
Recovery is part of the dev section. So don't piss on me.
It's a problem which should be answered by an recovery dev.

No! Development section is for development not answering help questions that's why it's called development.

You can certainly restore a nandroid backup made with CWM onto a new phone, provided you use the same version of CWM to do the restore. And it will probably work with PhilZ as well (given it's CWM based). Can't speak for TWRP as I've never used it. You may end up with issues if you don't backup everything (preload, etc - not EFS tho); I've heard of instances where people have forgotten to backup preload on other devices & the restore has failed.
So yeah, it should work. That way you shouldn't have to worry about backing up apps/settings with Ti or contacts/call logs/SMS because the nandroid/similar backup is essentially an image of the phone at the time the backup is made (minus the external SD tho; back that stuff up separately if necessary). I'd still be backing up apps/settings in Ti though just in case restoring nandroid/whatever doesn't work; that will save you some time if you do end up having to do everything from scratch again with the new phone.
Can this be fixed somehow or is the partition Samsung made uneraseable

The partition isn't changed when flashing ROMs, so the xGig set aside for /system will remain the same. At present there isn't a simplified way to do this (if any?), without extreme risk of bricking your phone.

So long story short, sbl1 is overwritten.
I saw multiple posts about specially prepared sdcard and im wondering how to unbrick it with this phone, i have a back up before it got bricked (mmcblk0 the first 128MB of it).
Any ideas?

I tried making a USB Jig but with no luck
Ive also tried qdload.pl with MPRG8086.hex still nothing (failed to execute becuase no reply)
Could I try shorting the emmc chip from being detected to force sd card boot???
Doesnt EFS have to be on the sd card too???
Bump!
Did the SD thing work?? ?

Zero'ed it, trying to zero out another partition. (dd if=/dev/zero)
I tried to compile a custom arm bin (one that resets the device) upload it with qdload.pl and it wont work because it needs to be signed (this includes eMMCBLD.hex)
