Hi,
I was wondering if some dev have implemented Bluetooth 4.0 support for our N4? I've read somewhere(SIG) that it has necessary hardware built-in. Do we have to wait for Google to officially release it?
This could be beneficial...like playing music to your car via Bluetooth while displaying music info/album cover on board/car display. ETC.
Android 4.3 apparently has support for this, so it should be coming soon.

I'st possible to port the Bluetooth 4.0 software/ Libs? Like from it's close cousin the LG Optimus G? . I really don't understand why they left out Bluetooth 4.0 support with right hardware....when they release the N4. So when will be the 4.3 coming out?. :/

The Nexus 4 does support Bluetooth 4.0 hardware wise.

Do you even have a BTv4.0 device to pair with your phone? I can't even find 3rd party stereos that have it, let alone stock car systems...
Android was late to the BT4 party and it will come in the next update. Unless your other device supports BT4, you won't see the power-saving features the protocol touts.
LG didn't develop its own BT stack for v4.0, and none of its phones have the software to support BT4. AFAIK, only HTC and Samsung were working on BT4 support, which they discontinued after the 4.3 announcement.
You could always adapt BT4 to jelly bean yourself and beat Google to the punch

Hope this helps solving some bugs on the Galaxy S ICS Ports!
This will be longest wait ever for me.
I hope samsung will also make a 4.0 for the SGS why not they done the nexus s they are so close.
I really doubt Samsung will make ICS for SGS. All their efforts would probably be concentrated towards SGSII and Note

The GS roms available are pretty good so far, flashed one on my wifes and she loves it!
Someone told me that NFC drivers can be ported from (ICS) Nexus S to Galaxy S, and NFC works. I call bull****. Is that true ?

No it isnt because sgs doesnt have a nfc chip build in

At the moment this doesnt mean so much as you think. We need the source code for nexus s to get a nice build of ICS. Otherwise the rom would suck, if you know what I mean
anyway, does anybody know if nexus s can now record videos with 720p??
The Q's are official shipping now, when are we going to get ICS and GB support?
I got my Nexus 7 yesterday and it works great with both my ebay Qs.
But I can't use my AT&T Samsung Note (rooted with CM9 ICS) ore my Nexus One (rooted with CM7 GB.)
We need official support like you promised Google! I really hope Google releases JB for the Google Q officially, because right now the devices is pretty worthless IMO.

Hahahahaha, well it's the Nexus Q but anyway, how is Jellybean going to make it any less useless?

Useless responses like your own are not needed.
I really hope they add more functions... I don't really wanna have to root that thing but will if I have to. They should start selling some Bluetooth NFC enabled remotes that would let u choose apps like Netflix and such

Just want to see folks predictions about this really. How long do you think it will be before Google will leave it behind?
Nexus One: April/May 2010 - October 2011 (No offical update to 4.0+ )
Nexus S: December 2010 - October 2012 (No 4.2)
Really the Galaxy Nexus will be the next to feel google dropping support of OTA but how long does the N7 have? July 2012 - 2014/15?
i think max 2014
Android 5.0 and 5.1(if they will)

No 4.3, 4.4, etc.?
Looking for what year do you think they will stop updating it. Forget Android version numbers as Google might just go from 4.2 to 5.0 to 5.5 or whatever.

Maybe CyanogenMod/AOKP/AOSP/etc uodates , but nothing more, since there will be no newer bases to build upon after N7's support ends

Exactly! Its a very capable device and its a Nexus.. We wont leave it behind!
I think about 2014, we do still have devs also updating some faster then google. This is the first offical google ONLY device made by google, any cellphone has the overlay of the manufacturer. ASUS makes the nexus7/10 and again its only google software no overlay from ASUS. I think it will be suprisingly longer then we expect
I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy it while it's there.

Mid to late 2014, is my guess but who knows maybe it will be for as long the hardware will support it

Looking at android versions, the Galaxy nexus could even be dropped at the next android release; it seems they're speeding up their android releases.
Which means maybe the next version of android might be the N7's last, unless both JB's only counted as one...
I think they might turn the Nexus line into an iPad type thing - with N7 second generation coming out some time around July. All just guessing though...
No idea. Personally I'm not too bothered about big updates to Android coming sooner - it would be better if Google worked more on bug-fixing - I'm sick of the media server bug, the less than advertised battery life etc on 4.2. They should also focus on getting developers to make more tablet optimised apps, unifying the Android experience (it really annoys me when an app has loading circle / progress bar from gingerbread etc).

It will certainly not just be one more version, I expect 5.0 and at least 5.1 updates for our device. And when support stops it will be do to the lack of RAM (really wish they crammed 2GB in this thing)
As for apps, Google publishes Android guidelines. They can't hold a gun to developers heads and make them do things. Vote with your wallet on poorly designed apps, it isn't Google's job.
hello
i've already upgraded to 4.2.1 official and im wondering if there's gonna be any official android 5 for tf 300
How would anybody know?
I don't even know anything about Android 5
Guess nobody can tell you if there will be
I really hope Android 5 has the same or less hardware requirements than 4.xx. They (Google) have gone overboard with android 4 and it now takes a dual core and 1 GB RAM to have a good experience, which is comparable to a desktop OS requirements (windows XP/7/8). This is crazy. There are still low cost low spec single core 512MB RAM touch devices in production. If Android 5 is another step up in system requirements, the fragmentation problem will only get worse.
Having said that, there should be no reason why the TF300 doesn't get an Android 5 update, unless it's ASUS policy to turn the device obsolete in order to sell something new. In that case, the warranty will have expired and we will have good reason to unlock the device and install whatever latest custom ROMs we want.
btw... it's a pity the original TF101 pad is not in the JB 4.1/4.2 game.
im saying this because android 4.1 and 4.2 were not a big step in android os .. so asus must release the android 5 for the device ..
of course there is not any info about android 5 but i thought its better to start a topic like this :-/
Re: will there an official android 5 for tf300 ?
Well, I'd like to think Android "5" is going to be 4.3 last time they announced a new version 4.2 was going to be "5". Pretty sure 4.1 was also supposed to be 5. It won't be that big of an update and we may get it.

I think it's called Key Lime Pie. I really hope we'll get this update, but wouldn't be too surprise if we didn't.

It is to my understanding that Key Lime Pie is suppose to be a large leap for Android, but at the same time, ICS to JB was too, so who knows. Trying to scrape up some info for the Motorola X, a phone that is suppose to be directly designed and set up by Google themselves (after all they own Motorola now) and will be the first Key Lime device is suppose to have some great tech that previous phones couldn't do, however it could be all a bend of truth to make it look like it is Android 5's abilities, when it may just be newer hardware tech itself. August is the "word" but who knows, will have to see. As for our TF300 variants, unlikely, ASUS will want us to buy a new tablet... probably when they get the Tegra 4's going mainstream and not just on NVidia dev.
Let's not forget that our device is very similar with nexus 7 , which will receive it for sure
Just take a look at samsung: there have been so many updates for sgs 1 , from 2.1 to 2.3.6 (not to mention that jb works far better than original firmware )
Be more optimistic guys

our device is NOT that similar to the nexus 7.. seriously man you think just cause they are both tegra 3 they are similar?? they have different hardware and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT versions of android. no we will probably will not get android 5.
Also, most recent rumors suggest that 4.3 (jb) will be released at google I/O NOT android 5. sadly it seems android 5 will be delayed

I think the nexus 4 has quite a bit of life left in it Google would be stupid to cut support now maybe after lollipop they'll cut support like the gnex did with after jellybean but that was a special circumstance that the nexus 4 won't have.
ithink it handles lollipop pretty well
