Hello friends,
Is it possible that some apps which ran perfect on 4.1.2 now cause problems on 4.2.2 ?
I use a sd benchmarking app called A1 sd bench which doesn't work properly anymore.
First time i ran it my cpu freezed at maximum and my phone rebooted.
the other thing is it gives me a sd read speed of 660 MB/s ??
The other app is a statusbar cpu monitoring tool named cpu stats.
Sometimes it shows a core frozen at maximum and it doesn't show the cpu freq in the drop down bar anymore.
On my s3 4.1.2 these apps ran without any problem.
So are there some issues with apps on 4.2.2???

Hi,
Yes,that may be the case.
There are several apps that have not been updated to work on 4.2.2

just wanted to let everyone know this, as there are still plenty of threads out there that suggest setcpu, and it's a waste of time
Thanks dan, where you been stranger?

so what does it mean? it's doing what setcpu does? what about battery and temperature profiles? what if i want to force the cpu to use a lower clock speed to conserve battery?
I never understood SetCPU myself. The CPU is only used when required, so creating all these settings likely does nothing.
I'd consider it for overclocking, if that was possible.
I was also informed that our phones should do this anyway but I was suspicious of how well it does, being on 1.6 and butchered by SE after all.. it made a good deal of difference before the update.
Trying it without the update now and we'll see how it goes. Completely removed it and power cycled. Will bump in a few days with my results.
I found android got extremely laggy on 1.6 with setcpu. and I use a temp/cpu widget to keep tabs on stock behavior, my cpu sits at 245 most of the time, except when I'm using the phone

What widget do you use?
I took a quick look on the Market and AppBrain, and couldn't find anything to track/plot CPU clock to see what the phone's doing while in standby.
I do use SystemPanel, but it doesn't plot CPU clock over time, only usage.
Try advanced task manager it shows cpu speed...

I'm not looking for a way to see the speed. SystemPanel will do that. I'm looking for a plot that shows the cpu speed over time, so I can see how and when it changes.

Try Usage Timelines Free or seepu++ (not free and dev seems to have abandoned it)
Edit: sorry I see you want clock speed not usage. I have yet to find an app for that as well.

so what is SetCPU doing then? draining the battery? or is it affecting the charging process?
and what about the app CoolS? its almost the same thing as SetCPU but the only thing you can do is slow the CPU down
You can use SetCPU to:
1. Overclock (but not on X10)
2. Underclock (you know you go somewhere for 2 days and forgot the charger at home)
3. Make profiles to lower CPU freq when temp is too high
For day by day use, i'm ok with android's ondemand scaling.
use android hackers apk. thereu can see theCPU over time...

i use setcpu to underclock my X10 to 5xx mhz when the screen is off.
my batt usage is better, from 3-5% per hour to below 2%.
I've been using overclock widget to keep it to 998mhz to see if it would make a difference in quadrant. Recently i uninstalled it and i still get about the same benchmark score.
my phone heats up after running some hour.and it heats up fast when charging i am using Kyrillos ROM 5.0 beta2.somebody help it heats up like it will burn....

Ya man. Mine too overheats when i charge or use wifi. I am using apocalypse 1.3 OC. I think its bcs of the Over Clocking.
i have used non-oc version also but the problem is same i think i should move to the stock rom.
Thats Normal bro..happen wid me too...

I has the same problem. And I used Set Cpu to lower the frequence to 1066, look like it ok now.
Here is the setting:
Default: (conservative) Min 333, max 1066
Screen off: (ondemain) min 222, max 333
i feel pity for all of u ....
Overheating of phone is likely to be due to an overclocked CPU.
dkido gave the right way to solve it, I think.
Man it's normal with Over Clocking
I would recommend non OC as it is more stable
Set in SetCPU Profles add Temp> 38 C, Max 667000, Scaling conservative.
can anyone help me??? i am using apps2sd mad team..n in settings>sd & phone memory it shows 6.49 gb instead of 7.49..that is because i partioned it...but in titanium backup it shows
internal: 201 MB
SD Card: 6.49gb
sd card(a2sd):219mb
why is this happening ..i have tried several times..everything goes right n i partion the sd card even but cant see it in titanium backup..help would be appreciated...n also do i have to convert..?? i am on indroid 4..and i did not flash any kernel..
Something tells me it's not OC, because if you check CPU spy you'll see that the phone doesn't go into Deep Sleep when the screen is off and charging, however it does when you're not charging. One way to fix this is make a profile in set CPU that while the screen is off make it like 83MHz-166MHz that way the phone won't get hot. It works for me atleast.

ive just looked at a phone tester app thing, and found out my A500 is only running at 480mhz, how come? tried couple other apps to check and not moved, it should be an 1ghz?
help lol
Like virtually all modern processors, the CPU in the Acer scales its speed to the current required load; running @ 1GHz full time would generate additional heat (and system wear) as well as reduce the battery life.
My tab tends to spend about 2/3 of its time @ 456MHz and underMHz, and about 11% @ 1GHz, the rest being spent in between (with very few stops in the 760/816/912MHz stages.)
If you have SetCPU (requires Root) you can fire up a reasonably complex game for a couple of minutes and check the Time in State info again.
Now, if this isn't the case, what specific "phone tester" app did you try?
Yeah you would not want your tablet running Max CPU speeds all day.

i understand about not running full all the time, but its a constant 430.39, it hasnt moved, even using a high end game or anything?
What's a high end game for you?
Because my tabled does go to 1GHz while playing Galaxy on Fire 2.
Get systempanel from the market and test.
If you are rooted, you can use the script i wrote to log clock speed and usage % of both cpu cores while you are doing something. I OC to 1.5 GHz and it is easy to crank both cores to to the max while watching a movie or even just browsing the web.

My girlfriend has an I337 S4 running rooted MDL rom. Her phone would get hot and battery life was awful compared to my M919 S4.
I installed Bettery Battery Stats and it shows that the phone is either running at full speed or in deep sleep. I changed the governor of the stock kernel and it didn't make much difference. We then installed Ktoonsez kernel (newest version as of a few days ago) and it made no difference. I even tried to underclock and overclock the cpu and it always stays at the maximum setting. I've tried a few task manager applications and they show what is running but nothing uses a high percentage of CPU. Its as if some hidden system process is pegging the CPU all the time.
Does anyone have advice on how to stop this?
It's probably something hidden in the Rom that's making the cpu clocked out all the time. The Rom probably has a built in wake lock app that keeps the cpu running constantly when the screen is locked. Umm, I guess your best guess it to do a factory reset and if that doesn't work go back to the stock software or try a different Rom.

if anyone is still using the note 4 all you got to do is root your stock rom and under clock the processor to less then 1.9.. iv been using this since morning and my phone does not over heat or loose battery.. it was 100% in the morning and its 85% now. hope this helps you guys. well who ever owns the phone still that is lol
What kernel do u use for underclocking, also which app ?

It seems he's using stock. As for apps, any kernel manager will do

1.7 for me, undervolted to 850 mv for 1728 mhZ. No problems with stuttering, lags or random reboots. 3% battery drop for around 7 hours in deep sleep, all the time on LTE. GPU locked at max 384 mhZ too. Tweaked inteliactive governor, autosmp hotplug. Unfortunately, our 805 SOC is power hungry kekeke. But everything run so smooth.

Give it a try with kernel adiutor or synapse (kernel support)

Better battery stats - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
My phone was over heating to 90°~95° and has random reboot i solved it with just underclocking CPU to 1958Mhz and everything is good
hello guys ..can you explain me what is numbers near process at wakelock detector app ?! for example power_service.display ( x203 ) what is the meaning of these numbers?!
Help
can you tell how to do it?
