[Q] tethering from lg optimus one to nexus 7 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My WiFi doesn't reach my whole house on my nexus 7 but it does on my phone. I was wondering if it would be possible to tether the WiFi through an otg cable from my phone to my n7. I already know it is not possible to tether WiFi and through wifi hotspot because you can't use both at the same time and I don't want to use bluetooth.

No. It's can't be done.

How to stop N7 from disconnecting from WiFi hotspot?

Hey guys. I use my galaxy note as a hotspot for my nexus 7. But after about 10 minutes it disconnect from my note, anyone know why this happens?

What app are you using on the note to tether?

Just going into setting and turning it on then finding it on my nexus 7 then connecting.

Sure it's not a problem with the Note and not with the Nexus 7? If it's a problem with the Nexus 7 you'd notice it dropping on your home WiFi too.
Yeah true that didn't think of that. Don't know where to start on my note either.

My razr was doing this. I used tasker to make a task that enables tethering and disable wifi sleep policy which worked.
Couldn't find wifi sleep settings anywhere else in settings.

Try tethering with Bluetooth instead of through WiFi? Not a fix, but it's a simple workaround.
I stopped using my Xperia S as a WiFi hotspot and just tether with Bluetooth. It's quicker (for me), I'm not broadcasting an SSID, and I don't have to worry about Chrome's preloading sucking up all my data because it's set to WiFi Only.

How do I get internet via Bluetooth ?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
On my Xperia S it's Settings > Wireless & Networks > More... > Tethering & portable hotspot.
Pair the two devices, enable Bluetooth tethering under "Tethering & portable hotspot", then connect from the Nexus 7 to the Note. You'll know you've done it right if the network in the Notifications on the Nexus 7 says "Bluetooth Tethered".

Anybody using Nexus S on AT&T to tether Nexus 7?

I pair my Nexus S to my Nexus 7 via Bluetooth. On Nexus S, in the tethering settings sections, I have ""Bluetooth tethering" checked. On Nexus 7, I have the box checked for using the Nexus S's internet connection.
Although the devices pair just fine, the Nexus 7 does not get an internet connection from the Nexus S.
Both devices are stock/unrooted.
Any advice? Anybody else successfully using a stock unrooted Nexus S on AT&T to bluetooth tether a Nexus 7?
Thanks.
On your Nexus S in settings, go to Tethering and Hotspots, and check Bluetooth Tethering. Then on your Nexus 7, in Bluetooth, go to the Nexus S setting/menu, and recheck Internet Sharing Connection. That works for me.

I am not clear on what your question is but assuming you are asking whether you can connect your N7 to the internet by using your Samsung Galaxy S3. I don't have an S3 but I can tether the N7 to my GS2 by using either wifi portable hotspot or bluetooth.
I have no clue about question #2
The 2nd question is can I charge my phone via the nexus 7 USB while I use my phone as a WiFi hotspot?

Can I use/turn Nexus 7 as wifi hotspot?

Hi guys,
I am thinking to get the 32GB 3G nexus 7 and I have a 5GB mifi, so if I get the 3G nexus 7 will I be able to turn the tablet as a wifi hotspot for the laptop so I don't have to carry the mifi with me, otherwise I will just get the wifi only to save some money.
Also, if I use the nexus as wifi hotspot, how many hours do you think I can get out of it? my mifi about 6 hours.
Cheers,
Dan

What are you trying to accomplish by tethering or making it a WiFi hotspot? There would be no data connection to share.

Nexus 7 connected to WiFi router

I don't believe you can have a WiFi connection and access point on at the same time with android. Windows 7 has the miniport driver that allows this, but I think it requires certain hardware features built in that android devices might not have. I've heard this question asked a lot but no solutions.

There are several apps in the Play Store that do USB tethering. I don't know if they can get data from WiFi though. Search for USB tethering and try some.

EasyTether works with the nexus 7 but I'm using linux on my laptop so can't vouch for windows. However, it should work if you follow their directions.
