Lockscreen box - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the purpose of the box when you tap on the message on the lockscreen? It doesn't seem to do anything when swiping. I'd imagine it would be for quick replying. (Attached)

when you tap the message swipe in that area (as to unlock the phone) then it'll open the message in the messaging app.

Ah that box is quite an eyesore to be honest. I'd much rather see a quick reply!

It ONLY appers when you CLICK on an unread message, so how can it be an eyesore?

@beaver2233
The box is also visible if you hit the back button on the lock screen. It simply unlocks the phone. :/

When you have a message on the lock screen are you supposed to be able to swipe and open the message automatically. Mine doesn't do this?

much cooler if they made it for quick reply

Lockscreen

This is hard to explain but is there anyway to make my lock screen have the little lock in the bottom instead of the pattern .
You get the little lock when you pull down the clock down. Then when you press the lock the pattern appear to unlock the phone.
I put some picture to explained better

Only way I know is to set the security to swipe instead of pattern.

I done that before and it just does the same. It just has the giant swipe symbol not the small clock

So when you go into the settings/security/screen lock and set it to "slide" you still have a pattern on your unlock screen? Weird. Are you on stock or custom?
I get where you're getting at. No, there is no way to do what you're asking from the stock setup. You'll either have to write some code and mod it yourself or find an aftermarket lock screen app that does what you want.

New message wake

I may be missing it, but does anybody see an option that won't wake the screen when a new message comes in?

Dang, seriously? I guess I'm so used to rooted phones that I didn't realize that wasn't just a general setting. We need root bad.

For SMS/MMS, I installed Textra and turned off the native messaging app. Textra allows you to not wake up the screen in settings. Not exactly a fix, but I'm liking the app so far.

Lock screen notifications

Anyone know of a few good ones out there? I've tried a few but they didn't seem to work. I'm tired of the ugly message box when I get a text etc.

That's one of the ones I tried but it was weird. It would notify me of missed calls but I would still get the stock SMS notification (yellow box) also, the missed calls would only clear from my lock screen if I pulled down my notification bar. I'll give it another shot.

I just tried this one. I added email, missed calls and SMS but I'm still getting the stock text message notification. It is showing me email though.

I was able to get the dash clock one to work but how do I make it my default lock screen? Every time I lock my phone it goes back to the stock lock screen. When I long press the lock screen I can cycle between the 2 lock screens but I can't "trash" the stock one like I can the dash clock one. I also can't change the order of them. I though maybe if I placed the dash clock in front of the stock it would set as default...no dice.

Move the dash clock one all the way to the right.

You can try Knock2+ It's very similar to Active Display.

what rom are you on? if there is an option in the lockscreen settings to use aosp or touchwiz lockscreen choose touchwiz and on your lockscreen touch and hold the clock you want to remove and remove it. click the plus sign symbol and add dashclock. go into your messaging app, go into settings and uncheck the option to "preview message". that should fix your problem
I used lockerpro lock screen it works really good. Also used dynamic notifications its simple and just like the moto x active notifications. I don't use anything anymore just stock light notification.

Why dont you post the full message.
I have a clue of what it might be, but I cant be ceirtan..
It's a shield in my notification bar and a message pops up saying just stopped an app from accessing your information with an option to view apps but it takes you to all your apps and doesn't identify which app..

Is that not knox doing its 'thang'?
Yep, that's Knox.
It's either Knox or if you're on T-Mobile it's Lookout. Is the shield a gold color or is it green?

But you should really be ashamed for not knowing even the inbuilt settings of the phone.
And do press the "Thanks" button for him.
