[Q] enabling AWS network connectivity with baseband switcher - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to use a baseband utility to access an aws network on a defy not originally meant to use aws?
I'm trying to use a Canadian telus mb525 on Wind mobiles network. All the T-mobile Basebands list the 1700 aws frequency, but when i try to register on the network i get errors such as "your sim can not be registered on this network (even though the phone" recognises " the wind networks when i scan available providers)
What if i used a baseband version directly from a wind or mobilicity phone? Or perhaps there's other aws compatible Basebands that others have successes with?

[Q] Bravo & Tmobile 3G USA

If I understand correctly - the Bravo has access to 850/1900MHz for UMTS but Tmobile uses 1700/2100MHz. Does that mean no 3g on T-Mobile for the Bravo?
If you use the defy baseband tool, the settings for T-Mobile are 850/1700/2100 so 3g shouldn't be an issue. I've always had success with the 1st choice (3.4.2-107-4) with at&t. Assuming you're American, one of the three us T-Mobile settings should work. If not you could try copying the baseband from the defy T-Mobile port. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230251 The rom rip is advanced and not recommended if you don't know how to fix a "mess up". I'll post a tutorial if defy baseband doesn't work for you.

It does not work with T-Mobile's 3G, Bravo frequencies are 850/1900 mhz while T-mobile uses 900/1700/2100 mhz.
Bravo hardware allows only these frequencies.
Baseband switcher cant manage that!
Didn't know that. Never looked up the frequencies. I've only had 2 connection problems, and baseband fixed it. Except for the latest two cm9 nightlies. Haven't tried to fix since it's on multiboot and cm7.2 works great. Saw the thread in Dev and will post back here if I find something since I haven't reached 10 posts yet.
I am in the USA using the T-Mobile network.
I tried the defy basebands on my quarx/cm7 bravo. Out of all of the basebands I tried the radio would not establish a connection. No 1G, 2G nor 3G connections were possible with these defy T-Mobile basebands.
Luckily I backed up the /system/etc/motorola directory and restored over the changes that the defy baseband changer loaded. I have 2G back in action after the restore.

idea tab A1000-T sim question

I have an A1000-T that I purchased in Thailand. It has a sim slot in it so I pulled my TELUS sim card out of my phone and tried it. I could not connect with the TELUS network. TELUS (TD-SCDMA) is listed in the preferred networks list 9 times. All have the same network ID and network mode (td-scdma). The 9 listings all have differing priority of 0 through 8.
Is it possible to connect or is there something inherently Thai about this that is foreign to north american networks? If so would rooting it make it work? I've not seen specifics for rooting an A1000-T, would the rooting instructions for other A1000 models work?

I9505 S4 LTE Int. - Activating TDD LTE bands

I own a i9505 International LTE model. My carrier has soon went for TDD LTE in Romania which is a first here. As everybody knows this far the i9505 only supports FDD LTE.
There seems to be two S4 models i9507 and I9507V that both support TDD LTE bands and are available in HK and Australia.
Tried flashing the LTE modem from those models but my bootloader refuses the file and i get an error in ODIN.
I used QXDM and modified the phone. DFS CDMA tool uppon scan now shows my phone accepts the stock LTE bands + Band38 but when
the phone attempts to connect to the Band38 it goes with no signal no network then falls back into 3G.
I believe i enabled the permision to connect to Band38 but because the modem has no instructions of it , it still can't communicate on Band38
There have been reports of i9507+-V users that flashed i9505 roms and theyre modem got overwriten resulting in no more DATA connection for them. It's clear FDD modem on a TDD network will not work.
Is there any chance of forcing the LTE modem from i9507V onto the i9505 phone ? Would Heimdall overpass the bootloader's check ?
The i9505 latest bootloader and modem is OH2 , on I9507V there is OH3
Also what is the worst case scenario ? I would imagine FDD network loss and/or wifi. Is that impossible to recover from or flashing the correct modem over would fix it ?
Anyone encoutered flashing the wrong modem file and recovered from it ?
I don't care if i loose FDD networks since my carrier only has TDD on 4G.
Also. Would it be possible to combine the i9505 5.0.1 sources against i9507V 5.0.1 sources and come up with a combined/hybrid modem ?
You are from Romania?
Yes.
I read that it can be activated with QXDM on lg g2 and sam. s5. Did you tried it?
I used QXDM and added band38 , when LTE is enabled in network type it works 5%. It tries to connect to the 4g signal then drops dead with no network no signal and goes back to 3g.
QXDM only adds permision to connect to certain bands , the i9505 modem does not have the instructions on how to communicate with a TDD network (band38 is TDD not FDD)
Nobody owning a G2 , G3 or S5 managed to add a functional TDD band. You can add more FDD bands thats for sure but not TDD without a proper modem.
That's why i'm curious about binding the i9507V modem with I9505 somehow so it gives it the instructions on how you can communicate on TDD networks.
That is sad. Because to the and of this year rcs will introduce lte in my city as well.

[Q] Zte Z64 hotspot enable all bands

Hello everybody ,I have an unlocked z64 Tmobile hotspot 4g. I need to use it on 900/2100 frequency. But its originally on 850/1900.
Since its based on MDM8200A Qualcomm chipset.Do you think its possible to enable all bands with DFS or QPST?

How to unlock 4g bands for H910 in UK/Europe?

Hi there. I bought an 'unlocked' AT&T H910 LGV20 from ebay.
I thought would work in the UK as the phone hardware has compatible 4g bands that my provider (EE) uses.
The stock at&t firmware only allowed me to use 2g/Edge.
So I have flashed several other roms / kdz files using LGUP
( h910 Puerto Rico, H915 Canada, US996 unlocked US - variety of android 7 and android 8)
Some roms (particularly Android 7.0 Canada and Puerto Rico) work with 2g and 3g but there isn't even a 4G option in the base menus.
Some roms have global or allow you to select LTE/3Gpp but they don't allow me to get a 4g signal.
One even said 4g at the top but when I checked the connection in phone settings - about - it showed 3g (and this was consistent with the download speed too)
II only got videotron Canada to work. Bell and Rogers should have an overlapping 4g band but I got the CUST error on those roms.
I have tried going through service menu but all that can do is sometimes force a 3g signal from 2g
So what should I do?
1. I s there a rom with overlapping 4g bands that would work? Can I flash a HK rom onto H910?
2. Can I root the phone to unlock 4g bands?
Would this survive unrooting to allow me to access microsoft intune (for work email), banking and sports apps (which sometimes don't like root?)?
3. Would a custom rom work? Which do you recommend to keep as many features as possible eg remote control, camera, DAC?
Do they also work with microsoft intune, banking apps, sports apps etc?
I have followed a few of the posts out there but given the ebay seller I wonder if a few more people in Europe might have been tempted!
Thanks!
Hi
You need Band 20 (800) to use with EE UK and according to GSM Arena list of specs for the H910 that version of the V20 does not have it and I do not know if it can be added.

Thank you!
I was led to believe the H910 (same as H915 in Canada) supported all of EE's 4g bands.
But for sure, the carriers seem to have locked some out. But not having any luck with other roms either...
I cannot post the url but
frequencycheck . com
carrier-compatibility/wwW4hXP/lg-h910-v20-lte-a-h915/ee-everything-everywhere-united-kingdom
Compatibility - 3 out of 3 bands supported
100%
Interface Name Supported by device?
LTE B3 (1800 +) Yes
LTE B7 (2600) Yes
LTE B20 (800 DD) Yes
As I said in previous post the H910 does not support Band 20 (800) check GSM Arena site select LG V20 and then H910 and select LTE bands and you will see that Band 20 is missing. The H915 is not listed.

I have a similar issue, having bought an "unlocked" H910 and having only 2G. Is this the file name of the H915 kdz file you flashed to enable 3G: "H91510e_00_VTR_CA_OP_1205.kdz"?
Thanks.
