Question about stock kernel - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Does it support loop devices? If I were to try and run linux in a chroot environment would it in fact run, or throw and error? If it does not...I take it there is no custom kernel that supports this yet?

EDIT: found the answer on stackexchange, dont have enough posts to copy link sorry folks
yet again...another edit lol, the AT&T SGH-I337 must support loop devices with factory kernel (i dont think installing a custom recovery and rooting touches the kernel...correct?), anyways, ubuntu up and running on SGS4 through Complete Linux Installer !!

Yes...theoretically you can now flash any Rom built for the s4 variants...although you prob gotta change the assert device checks...
But all the Canadian roms should work with the auto Loki recovery

ATT Stock-Like Rom

Hello,
Just got my ATT SG-IV yesterday, and I love it. Now I want to root and install a new ROM. Having used the Embroyo ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2275630) on SG-II, I am looking for a similar stock-like ROM for the SG-4.
Kindly please let me know if there are some around, that would still retain most of the stock fonts, looks, etc.

Nearly every thread in the Android Development section is based on the stock firmwares from AT&T. I would start there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2261
start here also....I have listed the roms that work with your device..

But before all that, start here, right at the top: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81

I'm assuming you're on the MF3 build. If so, there's some good stuff pinned in the general section.
All this is guess work right now, though, since you've given us no information about your device and what methods you've already tried.

TWRP

I have seen the new version of TWRP (3.1.0)
My question is the next.-
To install nougat it is necessary this version, since I have seen and it is somewhat tedious to install the new version of twrp, and it gives me much laziness.
I just want to know if I can Install it with the old version (3.0.0-2) :good:

And to answer your question, no it is not necessary as far as I know.
