[Q] noob question: S4 version check? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so I bought the international version unlocked S4 with octa-core 2 weeks ago, the phone came in a box with arabic so i assume it's imported from the middle east. now my question is:
1. is there anyway to tell if the phone is octa-core or quad-core?
2. how can i tell if it's genuine samsung phone and not a chinese replica S4?
sorry if I sound paranoid.

kernel flahsing

hi
I have a simple yet a profound question that affects the note 3 particularly the n9002 note 3 owners
hate the Chinese keyboard on it and google android keyboard is not cutting it for me..
im trying to get the enlgish Samsung keyboard of note 3 on my device
the question is will flashing the kernel from a n9005 (same processor soc 800) on to my device screw up anything particularly the dual sim part or will it not be affected ?
and the biggest question .. will it brick my device or not ?????
if not then I am willing to go ahead and just try flashing a n9005 kernel on the device
thanks and experts plz chime in here !

[Q] Help buying note 3 ! n900 vs n9005

Hello
I will buy the note 3 today hopefully
So im undecided to get between the 2 versions (n900 vs n9005)
both are available in my country with an additional 80$ for n9005
the question is which is better overall
1 Performance ?
2 Stability?
3 Developement and support?
4 Sound ?
btw i dont need 4g
THank you all :good:
..
Same question here, is it worth the extra 100$ to buy the n9005? Will the difference in performance and battery life justify the extra money?
Personally I wouldn't use the 4k recording and we don't have 4G here just as yet.
Same Scenario Here, paid the extra money and will never buy anything exynos again,
The N9005 has more love when it comes to developement.
There has been some reports of the exynos n900 overheating but as I don't own one I'm not inclined to say this is so.
Sorry to resurrect an oldish thread, but just bought a used Note 3 which was advertised as an N9005 however settings>About Phone tells me it's an SM-N900, baseband version N900TUVUCNB4(which research tells me is a T-Mobile N900), the label on phone in the battery compartment identifies it as an SM-N900.
We have challenged the seller saying it's not an N9005 but he is insisting that the N900 is only a series name and that I have the N9005. Is this correct? It doesnt sound right to me - I have a Note 2 LTE which identifies itself as an N7105, versus the3G model which identifies itself as an N7100.
Can anybody confirm what I should see under model number?
Thanks in advance
It's very easy. If in Settings - "About device" - "Model number" you have SM-N900, it's the 3G Exynos version of the Note 3. If it says N9005 is the 4G Snapdragon version of the Note 3. You can't flash a SM-N9005 firmware on a SM-N900 and you can't flash a SM-N900 firmware on a SM-N9005.
The seller just wants to make you keep the phone.

[Q] SM-N900, KitKat, Knox and root

Dear all,
I have recently received a SM-N900 (the Exynos variant of the Galaxy Note 3) for my job. Before, I had the Galaxy S4 i9505 and I was more aware about the Qualcomm advantages and problems. So, I would like to ask you about few points related to my new GN3 :
1) I plan to flash the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware just leaked. There is any issue I can expect with Knox ?
2) Is Know already implemented in my Exynos variant ? Will it be with the KitKat update ?
3) Any counter-friendly or Knox-friendly root for the Exynos variant ?
4) What about Triangle Away ?
Thanks for your answer !

From what I know, you can flash N9005 firmware together with the appropriate PIT file.
You can find the firmware for your device in the convenience way by using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Firmware Browser'.

what is my Galaxy S4 variant? HELP PLEASE!

It is Samsung Galaxy S4. When I go to Settings>>About it says its "i9500" (so it is i9500 right?) but the problem is when I wanted to flash a custom recovery, I turned off this phone and opened the download menu (by pressing vol down+power+home button) and the download menu which opened was in CHINESE LANGUAGE . I press the Vol Up button and then odin menu opened saying this:
"
PRODUCT NAME: SHV-E300L
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1
AP SWREV: A2
"
Now it says that my device is "SHV-E300L"..... wat da ****!!
Now please tell me which one is it. because i searched a lot in google, youtube, xda and everysite that I could and found that I may have korean variant.... !
BUT HERES ANOTHER PROBLEM.
• if I remove case & battery then i can see "GT-i9500" label in back of the phone!
• I have no chinese app in my stock rom. All apps were from samsung (yes knox is there.
• Everything is in English except Samsung Apps Store (because it is in chinese or korean... idk) and Download Mode...!!
• I have installed CWM Recovery of i9500 variant and it worked fine.
• I used tons of apps and every app says that it is i9500. Even IMEI.info says it is S4 i9500!
• CPU Z says that I have everything of GT-i9500 except CPU because my phone cpu is "PowerVR SGX544MP" while S4 i9500 CPU is "PowerVR SGX544MP3". Other specs are totally same (including Chipset: Exynos 5410 Octa,CPU: Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7, 2GB Ram, 32GB internal mem, 1080p display etc. I have even attached pics which might help you!
• Genuine Galaxy App confirms my galaxy s4 is genuine and original (a famous playstore app to check fake and original galaxy phones)!
• Antutu Score was 10,000 first time and 20,133 second time.....
• Even antutu says it is GT-i9500
I am very very embrassed... Its first time I bought samsung mobile and it is so bad experience... I have used LG and China mobiles before... they don't have such problems!
Any help will be appreciated...
So my main question is " is it GT-i9500 or SHV-E300L" !!! :') don't forget to see attachments (pics)!!

The SHV-E300L is a Korean GT-I9505.
Usually the model displayed on download mode (Odin mode) is the true model of your phone.
And a score 10.000-20.000 seems very low to me. My GT-I9505 can get 40.000 with a custom ROM, but even with stock it gets around 35.000.
I highly doubt the Exynos variant is so much weaker compared to the Qualcomm variant.

GT-I9505 doesn't have any local version in Korea. It's a Korean version of GT-I9500.

It's might be a SHV-E300L that faked with I9500 identities.

I saw some stuff about converting SHV-E300L to a GT-I9505 international, so I assumed it was a Korean I9505...
That explains why I9500 stuff worked in his device.

My ROM is not for e300l.
The reason why there are so few ROMs for the device is because it has a different architecture then the rest of the S4 series.
There are some stock-based ROMs such as this or this or this.
I have never tried these ROMs since I have e300k, so yea can't guarantee
And btw thats not chinese thats korean

Technically different. Both of them have different RIL drivers. Insisting to install i9500 ROM inside E300x phone will break RIL functionality and WiFi.

The same problem.
No custom ROMs available for this model.
Although the native system works good, one needs to discover more ROMs, with better features.
Well, let's hope someone will do CM or something for this model.
