I have looked everywhere for the answer to this but can someone please explain what the ROM naming by Samsung means? I remember the last three digits are something to do with the date it was compiled but what? eg - I9505XXUAMDM = I9505 (model number)+XXU (whats this?)+ MDM (What is this?)

Acronym explosion!!!! Please help me with some terminology please. I would like to know what is:
1. I know JVQ is a modem, but I've also seen a million similar 3 letter acronyms that i only assume are modems also, such as JVP. Are all modems JVx?
2. What about some of the other 2-3 letter terms. KC1...
I am familiar with other basics, its just when these letters/numbers are tossed in out that I'm not sure exactly what they are.

JVQ and JVP and such are not modems, they HAVE modems. those are the identification numbers for the ROM's
JVP came before JVQ fi you notice Q is after P in the alphabet, now JVP has a JVP Modem as well as a JVP PDA and it's CSC, all 3 form 1 ROM.
the part where you get told where are they from is the one BEFORE that, as in I9000XXJVP
that is the full name of the rom. it means it's for the I9000 device or Samsung Galaxy S, and it's a XX country code, this means Europe, and it's designation is JVP.
you can find a list of country codes with a search in this forums.
need some help, im editing my build prop, i have an internation i9505 which is cool i am using the i9505g rom, which works very well but the model id is incorrectly i think it should be showing jfletuexx or something similar, im in the uk using a EE model 4g s4.
can anyone tell me the correct info
ro.product.model GT-19505 ( changed this myself removing the G)
ro.product.name jgedlteue --- This is the part which i think i need to update.
the goal is to have all the correct market apps showing and functiionaly so the phone is a 19505 again, but only to other apps.

ive actually managed to answer this myself by going ot the CM site and looking for the usual download.
its JFLTEXX
Hi, I live in China but am not Chinese and have inherited a 14mth old Note3 SM-N9008 from my wife, who is Chinese. Just wanted to clarify this point as a lot of other posters with an SM-N9008 have been shot down for having one instead of getting a model relative to where they live
OK, with that out of the way, I have no issues with voiding the warranty as it's gone anyway (14 mth old).
My key question is after reading the "how-to-change-csc-in-samsung-galaxy-phones" (sorry cannot include the offsite link being new here) topic, and perhaps my understanding is wrong and so please correct me if I am, if I change the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes to match correctly to another locale NOT China (eg UK), then I am a) basically changing my 9008 to a 9005 in principle & b) my 9008 will accept ROM's for a 9005 and work fine.
Or is this 'trick' of manipulating these codes to give a new locale only for the purpose of if you have a 9005 in Chile which has not uploaded a new Stock ROM but say Spain has, I make my 9005 look like it is now from Spain and will therefore be able to get the new 9005 Stock ROM?
I have only ever rooted and applied another Stock ROM to one other mobile device before, about 2 years or more ago, which was a Chinese model of the Note 10.1 and it's worked perfectly fine in all that time on the Intl Stock ROM - except for updates online which I don't do (I do manual app updates where required) because the updates give me the Chinese version due to the CSC etc not being changed and so thinking I am Chinese.
Has anyone tried this before at all? Changing the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes from one model to anothers so as to have access to other Stock ROM's in your preferred language and without the locale's bloatware, as well as being able to have appz like Intl google play etc (which cannot be included in any 9008 Stock ROM)?
I've looked at detailed specs for both the 9008 and the 9005 models and they seem exactly the same, just the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes make each different.
If anyone has, please can they help tell me the process steps I need to follow (such as do I root 1st and then change the codes, or change the codes 1st and then root?
I do hope someone can give me some positive feedback please. Thanks in anticipation for any help you can offer me.
ok so I have this samsung galaxy s5 g900v
here is the info
model number = SM-G900V
Android version = 5.0
Baseband version = G900VVRU2BOG5
Kernel version = 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Build number LXR21T.G900VVRU2BOG5
I did as rules said. I searched here is a list of words used
"g900v tutorial" "G900v where to start" "G900v how to" " G900v whats next?" G900V Guide to root" all resulting in (Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. )
I was also told to go on youtube and watch videos on how to root..if root is the correct word to use..I found nothing useful most of them are people that speak horrible English and or are just selling something.. or tricking people into destroying their phones. so where are the tutorials? where is the step by step guides?
WHERE DO I START?
WHAT DO I DO?
WHAT DO I NEED?
HOW DO I DO IT?
and please use the Kings English.

Ok.. So what does the last two letters followed by a number mean in a baseband version?
Mine right now is N910PVPU4DPC1. So PC1. What does that mean?
It's unrooted, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Stock Rom.
Anyone can google that, and figure that out.
What does OG5, OG7, PC1 mean? What is the relationship between OG5 & OG7? Besides the fact that seven is two numbers higher than five.
Anyone have knowledge on this, or can point me in the direction, of where I can learn more about the three ending characters in a baseband version?
Anyone care to explain to me why I need to be on a certain baseband version, in order to use a specific ROM?
