[Q] Nexus 7 won't turn on/charge! - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
My Nexus 7 tablet battery drained and when I went to charge my tablet, nothing would come up.
I've tried holding the power button and volume down for 30 seconds and still no luck. My tablet backlight only turns on and then fades away after a few seconds. I've tried all other solutions with the buttons and timing it with my USB charger cable, plugged via wall charger and USB with computer.
Urgent help needed!
Thank you in advance.

Open your n7, unplug battery for a minute, then reconnect battery and charge it.
This may help, if not I am wrong.

Hold down volume up and down and the power button. When you get into the bootloader use the volume up/down key to select power down. Power it down and then plug in and let charge. Should work. It did for me.

[Q] HELP! My DX won't turn on

My DX is not turning on. The battery died and so the phone cut off and when I plug the charger in nothing happens and it won't turn on when the charger is plugged in. I have tried everything I can think of - pulled the battery and put it back in, held the power button down, held the power button and home row keys down, held the power button and camera keys, and I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help?
Take out the battery and hook it up to the wall charger. You should see a battery with a question mark. Then insert the battery and see if it recognizes the battery.
I just took the battery out and left it out for like 15 min and then put in back in and it worked. Thanks for your reply however, I really appreciate it!
phones won't start with a dead battery.. don't forget to charge -_-

Help!! Nexus 10 don´t charge, don´t boot

I´m on Paranoid Android, last version. I was whaching a movie with less than 4% battery, and It powered off. Problem is that It doesn´t boot and It doesn´t charge either.
Please please Help!!!
Sorry for my english
Hopefully your up by now after letting the device charge for a while. If not I'll throw this fix out in case it's a software problem. I have no idea, but: The Nexus 7 has a similar situation of not accepting charge after the battery runs dead. Maybe the same fix will work? With the charger plugged in, hold your power/vol button combo to boot into bootloader/recovery. From there select power off. Then the tablet "should" accept charge. It's the first idea I thought of, but I thought that was an Asus problem.

The problem is that you can´t boot into bootloader/recovery. Tablet doesn´t respond. When charger plugged in, It shows icon of battery when pressing power button but it dissappears in a second....
Hold power button 15-20 seconds until it vibrates & release. If no boot then, unplug and try it. I had this problem once also. Mine finally booted when unplugged for some reason (after being on a wall charger for a couple hours). Someone told me during my ordeal to first plug into a computer for the 1st hour, then go to the wall charger. I think holding until vibrate was the key for me, or so it seemed.

It seems to be charger´s fault. I can confirm it in one hour...
Edit: It was the charger...

[Q] Nexus 7 Will not power on.

My nexus 7 died after a couple days without use, obviously. As usual, I plugged it into my computer, where I got the message "USB Device not recognized." My nexus 7 won't charge hen plugged into the wall either. Could I have done this, or what can I do to fix it?

How long have you left it plugged into the wall charger?
Use the original cable, plug it into the wall. Let it sit for an hour or two then try to boot it up. If it does nothing, take the back cover off, unplug the battery, plug it back in, and try again.
Have you tried holding the power button for a long time?
Plug your N7 into the charger and immediately press power and volume down to get into the bootloader. Once there, use the volume key to scroll to Power Off Device and then press the power button. After it powers off, unplug it and then plug it back in. It should then charge normally.

[Q] Powerup on charger connection

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to turn on the Nexus 7 when a power source (usb cable) is connected from a completely powered off state. When you plug in the nexus and it's powered off, it shows this nice little charge animation without actually starting. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ratkid
Once it has powered up to the point you see the charging animation and it goes out, just press the power button for a few seconds, let go and it will start up.
Press the power button...

LOL. I was gonna say that....your hand would already be in the neighborhood of the power button when you plug it in....give the power button a wee press, and boom....its turning on.

Hi all,
I realize pressing the power button would be the simplest solution. Unfortunately, that won't work for my needs. I'm trying to help someone with a project where the nexus 7 will be enclosed, and the only way to interact with it will be the usb port (or more specifically, applying power to the usb port). I figured this was a losing battle, but also thought that if anyone would know a solution, it would be the wonderful people here. So besides the power button, any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Ratkid
Aside from hoping it never shuts off to begin with, I think you're out of luck.

[Q] nexus 7 completely dead?

Hi,
I have a nexus 7 2012 and it worked fine and runs CM 12. The other day I powered it off by pressing the power button then clicking the power off option in the power menu. When I turned it back on it didn't boot up and I ended up having to hold the power button for ages. Powered if off again the next day (only use it occasionally) and when I went to turn it back on it didn't boot again. This time though no matter how long I hold the button for or leave it on charge nothing happens.
I've tried everything from trying different charging cables, plugs, plugged it into laptop, pressing power + volume down and even pressing all 3 buttons. I've popped the back off and unplugged then plugged back in the battery. Nothing works there's no sign of life at all, no screen flickers no nothing I'm stumped. Think when I powered it off it was at 15% battery if that makes a difference?
Only conclusion I can come too is that the charging port is broke or the circuit. Sadly I don't have anything I can use to try and charge it using the four pin connector at the side to test it. Only thing I haven't tried is to "jump-start" the battery. Just take out battery and strip a usb cable and plug the power wires directly into the battery for half hour but not to sure whether to do that or not and wanna make sure I have exhausted all other options before trying that.
Any ideas?
