Checking 'SIM lock', i see a question mark? - Xperia Play General

Ive done the *#*#7378423#*#*. My readout is:
[? Network
]
[? Network subset
]
[? Service provider
]
[? Corporate
]
[? SIM
]
I have been told there should be some numbers. What do the '?' mean? Can my phone be sim unlocked?

Turns out it was unlocked after all.

Help! Is it unlocked or not?

I bought a HTC Hero on ORANGE UK which is obviously LOCKED. Since I am trying to unlock it so as to move to a different PAYG plan with more data I bought a unlock code. I received the code and this is what I got:
When I turned on the phone with 3 UK SIM card I get a screen that reads:
"SIM network unlock PIN. To make an emergency call, enter the emergency number and tap emergency call"
On the same screen I get a place to put the unlock code and a button that says UNLOCK.
Once I entered the code the phone screen says "Network unlock successful".
It seems to work.
However, after this, on the main screen I get a symbol with a SIM card and a huge Red "X" on it and says NO SERVICE.
I cannot connect to the 3 UK network (I tried both 3 UK and Talkmobile UK), neither worked.
My questions are:
- Everytime I turn on the phone with a SIM card different to Orange UK, I get asked to input the code. Is this OK or should it only have asked it once?
-Is the phone unlocked or not since it says successful with the code I enter?
- How can i get connect to the new SIM card network to if the phone is unlocked?
Thanks!

If you can make calls with another simcard other than Orange its unlocked. BTW how much was the unlock code?
Settings > Security > Setup SIM card lock > Uncheck Lock SIM card and enter the PIN... Qapl'a!
But that only unlocks the PIN lock, not the operator lock.
Thanks for your replies. I bought the code for 15 pounds.
I tried the above method, went to Security but the Lock SIM Card was UNCHECKED already!
Any other ways?
How come it won't work?

Will we be able to reset NCK counter and/or unlock nck with root access?

I bought my x10 from a local shop, it was the only one in stock and the box was not sealed.
I think that they played with it a bit too much...
When I typed in the NCK for the first time I had this answer:
Requesting network unlock...
SIM Card locked. Contact your network operator.
In the service menu under SIM lock I got :
[x] Network 0
[] Network subset 10
[] Service provider 10
[] Corporate 10
[] SIM 0
Does the x and 0 in Network mean too much attempt to enter NCK?
Will we be able to reset NCK counter and/or unlock NCK with root access?
Thanks for your answers,
MobileTux
At least could someone confirm the meaning of :
[x] Network 0
Thanks,
MobileTux
So, nobody on xda can interpret the SIM lock menu info?
What the X and the number means?
Please!
Thanks,
MobileTux
I think that's because you put in a sim card which is not the phone lock for. If you put the right sim card, the phone would be working.
e.g. if the phone is locked to Orange, you should put an orange sim card. then you wouldn't see those [x] and 0 stuff. Try it. I am just guessing here
The phone is network locked to Rogers. With Rogers, T-Mobile, Fido, Bell SIM or even without a SIM the same information is displayed in the SIM lock menu:
[x] Network 0
[] Network subset 10
[] Service provider 10
[] Corporate 10
[] SIM 0
I went to an other store where they have a working demo and that's what I saw in the SIM lock menu :
[] Network 5
[] Network subset 5
[] Service provider 5
[] Corporate 5
[] SIM 0
Thanks,
MobileTux
Judging from your first post, there is a SIM card lock on your phone. Why don't you return it to the store that you bought the phone and ask them to take care of the issue.
Hi,
I bought a SIM locked X10 3 weeks ago and after getting a wrong unlock code and using it for 5 times the phone was totally locked
Today I got it back from the operator and now it's unlocked and I think I'm able to tell you the differences:
before:
[x] Network 0
[ ] Network subset 5
[ ] Service provider 5
[ ] Corporate 5
[ ] SIM 0
afterwards (the same you mentioned in your last post):
[ ] Network 5
[ ] Network subset 5
[ ] Service provider 5
[ ] Corporate 5
[ ] SIM 0
So you're right, someone seems to have entered the wrong unlock code too often. I agree with visitador02, you should bring it back to the store!
Good luck!
I went to the store yesterday night and they changed my x10a for a brand new one in a sealed box.
The information in the SIM lock menu was :
[x] Network 10
[] Network subset 10
[] Service provider 10
[] Corporate 10
[] SIM 0
I received the new unlock code about an hour after I ordered it.
After writing the unlock code for the new IMEI I had this message on the first try :
Network unlock successful.
Yay! And the SIM lock menu now is :
[] Network 10
[] Network subset 10
[] Service provider 10
[] Corporate 10
[] SIM 0
Thanks to every body who helped me in my unlocking quest and especially to my unlocking code provider for his great services and the two nice girls at the store who gladly changed my phone for a new one!
For those who wonder how to get in the SIM lock menu :
In the key lock screen, press : menu - back - back - menu - back - menu - menu - back. Then go in Service info and SIM lock.
I hope this informations will help other peoples who have problem unlocking their x10.
Have fun with your new toy,
MobileTux
i believe these numbers, beside the types of locks, represent the amount of tries you have to unlock the phone.
I also believe that the numbers represent the number of try you have left and the X represent what is locked.

Trying to get my x10 unlocked from orange uk but having trouble finding someone who can unlock the phone.
thx
thanks mobile tux & clemi275 for sharing this info
my x10i gives this;
[x] Network 3
[] Network 5
subset
[] Service 5
provider
[] Coporate 5
[] SIM 0
so i still have 3 times left
many thanks,
So there is no way to reset the counter? That question was not answered at all.
There is no way to reset the counter with root access at the moment.
These phones can be unlocked only with the USB cable provided with the phone.
[X] - Means it is locked and the numbers represent the number of attempts left.
For example if it is
[X] - Network 10 , means network is locked and you have 10 attempts left.

If you have had your phone more than 6 months then Orange will provide you with a network unlock for £15. Quite reasonable IMO.

SIM card it is of unknown origin

Good afternoon to everyone
I have the following situation. I bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V) which, in theory, this is factory unlocked. I have normal network operator, depending on the location have 3G or H + ... the situation is that although I can use the phone normally, in the notification bar always have a notice that says "Could not activate the phone - SIM card it is of unknown origin "
My operator is Orange Dominicana.
Here is a Print screen:

[Q] "Not registered on network" even after a network unlock.

I have a G935T from a while ago and was trying to get it working, but it was network locked. I'm in Brazil and the phone was brought in T-Mobile US... The technician in cellunlockers were fast and precise, asked me to do some testing and after the job was done, he asked for me to type in a code that showed me that it was successfully unlocked. After i got a new SIM from the carrier Tim Brasil, i tried to call a friend with no avail... It identifies that there's some network operators in my region, but i can't place any call cause i got the "Not Registered on Network" warning. What do to in this situation?
