Galaxy s4 brightness mod? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Is there anyway to get the full brightness as if it was on auto since auto gets much brighter then manual maxed out
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2

In my experience, manual full bright is brighter than anything auto has given me outside in daylight?

It has a sensor that makes it go beyond the max manual brightness
From dosplay mate:
"when Automatic Brightness is turned on, the Peak Brightness becomes significantly brighter in high ambient lighting than is possible with Manual Brightness, up to as high as 475 cd/m2, which is 34 percent higher than is possible with Manual Brightness."

Okay so I edited my build prop and fixed that all up lol

Awesome! Wanna tell me what changes you did to get the manual high brightness? And do you think it will damage it?

Screen brightness

How is the visibility outside on a sunny day compared to the S2 or S3?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
It is slightly brighter than the S3. However, if you are in bright sunlight and if your phone is not on auto brightness and set to the lowest level, you will have trouble seeing the screen to set auto-brightness. The lowest brightness level seems lower than on the S3. I have run into this a few times.
Compared to my s3 its much better. Outside in the sunlight with sunglasses I can actually read my screen

I have my screen brightness at the lowest on my s3 right now and it's good if you are indoor but outdoor is terrible. Will the s4 have a better screen brightness at the lowest setting compared to the s3?
Ok cool thats the only reason I was considering the htc one. I got kinda tired of my s2 in sunlight

Lower brightness settings

Hi
Could someone told me if there is a mod or some settings to do in order to get a brightness lower than the min value, I do use the phone sometimes at night but I found out that the min value is too bright for me, compared to my xperia S, which is very low..

Is this maybe that thing that you're looking for?
Screen Filter
This app makes your colours look washed out, but makes the backlight less intense.
Thank you, screen goes a little grey but it's fine

There is an app called LUX, which can reduce you brightness to "0". It also does a much better job of auto brightness control that Android does in general, so your battery should last longer

[Q] Auto-Brightness Confusion

Can someone please explain how the auto-brightness works on this phone it seems to act a lot weirder than my galaxy nexus did. What does it mean when it talks about setting the baseline brightness and in what context? Do you use it? If so what brightness do you have it set to?
This phone has the worst auto-brightness of any device I've used.
I need to read the manual. I'm assuming the baseline is the minimum brightness, but it never seems to change when expected.
I chose to use a 3rd party app to manage it. Lux auto brightness works really well, and you can calibrate it any way you'd like.

I have mine set to 40% on auto. I found the best way to decide the minimum brightness was to set it at a comfortable level in a dark environment.
To test this, set up your minimum brightness, then point the screen (ambient light sensor) at a light source, keep your eye on the screen and it'll gradually brighten. I've found mine to work pretty well and rarely have to manually override it, but the change is a lot slower than my note 2.

Get lux lite from the play store. It works great

Comfortable in a dark room for me is about 5%, unfortunately even in the brightest of sun it seems like the phone never turns its brightness up at all when on auto like this. Anything less than 50% seems to break auto brightness for my device and that is just sad. Even when it works when set above 50%, it takes 5 seconds or so to adjust which is just terrible and the brightness seems to still act funny about how and when it decides to change. It really is the worst auto brightness ever.
Whoops!

Thanks for the recommendation guys that app seems to work sooooo much better than the stock auto brightness so far. The stock auto-brightness is garbage on this phone. Seems like the stock setting either doesn't get bright enough or doesn't get dark enough.
I don't agree, either I have a working phone or others are broke, but this is the best autobright performing phone I've every used, after the hd2, galaxy nexus, note 1 and note 2. Its perfect according to the ambient light situation and is really fast acting

[Q] Increase max brightness?

Those who had the S3 might remember a hack to increase the max brightness to be the same as the extra added maximum brightness when in Auto Brightness.
Would a similar hack be possible for the note 3?
I looked in /sys/class..... at the brightness options but can't remember the exact hack. I think it was changing auto brightness file to 1?

I am interested for the same , if anyone found a way to have the max brightness that is used in auto under the sun please let me know.
Topped, because I too am interested in this.
I don't like using Auto Brightness. But I need as much brightness as possible sometimes.
I'd like to get it while using my Display Brightness app's slider.

galaxy s5 when use camera, cpu temperature above 60 celsius.

This normal? Sorry my bad english.
This often happens with me too... If I take photos, the phone heats up a lot!!

Set Brightness to LOW, may this'll help you..
Basically when we open Camera app, Brightness increases too high..

Has nothing to do with brightness and everything to do with cpu usage.
