This is a nice tweaked version of Aurora
For me it's the kernel and viper4Android that makes it worth trying.
Oh and I installed using TWRP recovery and it installed fine.
I replaced SU with chainfires superSU and replaced apex with action launcher - but that's just personal preferences

so first look - looks smooth, wifi works fine, no random wifi reboots for me yet so this is good boot time is also very good. and so far it's using almost nothing battery pretty good rom
i will be reporting back tomorow or in 2 days, so i'll se how it works in life

So what's so special from this rom than the original?
Can you explain more about V4 sound effect? I mean how to install it, it's just normal apk or it changes some binaries to take effect in sound quality (like dsp).
Can you give me the app separately?
I want to try it only instead of installing the whole Rom, no offense. Cause you didn't write the pros of this rom than the original Aurora. I think I'm gonna keep with Aurora.
But thanks anyway

2 failure of this ROM:
1/ delete Superuser.apk? for real?
2/ Based on u20 - constantly reset when turn on wifi... why not update 21?

I'm using this rom for about 7h and I like it a lot.
1. Superuser.apk is present, shouldn't be on the list.
2. I've turned wifi on and off several times and I didn't get one single reboot.
This rom is an aurora lightweight edition with a superb battery consumption. After 7 hours I still have 89% and I've been playing a bit and restoring all the apps.
Thanks for the effort and keep up the good work mate.

I applaud the effort, but this ROM really should be in the general section.

Just in 1h of using i saw this issues:
- Problem with the SD Card, with Connect and Discard the SD Card
- The phone some times freezes (i was sending SMS) and i need to take out the battery so i can use the phone again

Do you install this ROM properly?
That problems never happen on my phone

Guy, this ROM should be light version or general version?
If you guys want making general version, i can do it
So, please reply me....so i can think about it

the best thing of this rom is the great MIUI Boot animation.
Good effort though :good:

From that list the unique app that I use is youtube, so... Yes, this is an useful rom for me. If you don't agree you don't have to use it.
Still using from my last post and no reboots so far, the battery just dropped another others ridiculous 5%. Loving it.

Hey guy! I updated Aurora apps restore package! You can install it if you want
The Link : http://www.mediafire.com/download/s07or5cv9gy71kc/aurora_app_restore_packages.zip

Its possible to export a new version with the Default Launcher?
Personally I don't like other Launchers.

I imagine you would have to uninstall your lag fix as this update installs it.
Unable to download
I'm unable to download from the media fire link. Anyone having the problem?
Ok, if you have a lag fix installed I would restore to factory then run the update.zip, don't use more then one lag fix, it will not work.
Fixing the one gig lag fix, if you run it after the side loader it will run the side loader again.
Fix coming in about an hour.

SGS2: CheckROM Revo v5 with JKay now works

This post will be obsolete soon, since CheckROM Revo v6 is to be expected. Please do not ask me for an e.t.a., but see the title of the thread. If it reads v6 you'll know its there.
This weekend (january 21st) I flashed CheckROM Revo v5 (see post 11777 at page 1178).
Since it is non-wipe and I came from v4 with Siyah kernel, I didn't lose any of my apps or data.
After flashing CheckROM Revo v5 my theme (Galaxy Blue v34) was gone and JKay Deluxe settings app (v13.2.2) didn't work anymore.
In the developers section members have noted they miss JKay (posts 11817, 11831, 11837, 11845, 11851, 11897, 11900, 11921, 11928, 11931, 11934, 11977, 12070, etc).
As a newbie I cant post in the Developers section, so I hope to give a helping hand by this post.
This worked for me:
1. I used Kitchen Pro to enter Recovery by selecting Menu, Browse/Install and then selecting a zip file.
2. In Recovery no zip file was installed automatically, so I installed the GalaxyBlue v34 zip form the "Install zip from sdcard" menu and rebooted.
3. The Galaxy Blue theme and JKay were then restored.
Now the very quick v5 works with JKay and my favorite theme!
Notes:
- The Galaxy Blue zipfile was already on my sd card.
- Galaxy Blue v34 at the moment is the newest version and is made for XWKK5. Despite this, my phone has been working flawlessly for two days.
- InnAl says in the developer section that TürkBey Rom may also help. I haven't tried this ROM, since I like CheckRomRevo
- Rebooting took a few minutes because of the automatic wipe of the Dalvik cache. My phone was unstable after the first two boots, but after a reboot it performed flawlessly and still is. See the screendump
- Always backup before flashing. All of this is at your own risk. Please read all the instructions for CheckROM Revo v4, Galaxy Blue and JKay
- JKay is now develloping for the Galaxy Note and not for the SGS2. So maybe for now a solution for CheckROM Revo v5 is to flash a theme that includes JKay support (like Galaxy Blue v34) and hope it works as it did in my case, allthough I'm not using all JKay's options
Kind regards,
Skully☺
You have basically replaced the LA2 framework with the KK5 framework, thats fine, it works, and thats what all LA2 roms with Jkays have done. You will lose some of the LA2 features, like the new lockscreen and other things.

Thanks, I thought so already. With JKay now working, the smoother working of the phone outweighs the minor loss of some LA2 features.
Please also note that some APKs are different, you can get Jkay by replacing the framework fine, but for example if you were to flash the ICS theme by Vert you'd need to replace APKs for phone, contacts, and a few others as well otherwise they will get messed up.
So proceed with caution and remember to nandroid if you mess up!

Thanks for the warnings.
Manually replacing apks and finding out witch ones to replace is a quite bit above my level.
The smoothness of CheckROM v5 is a huge improvement over V4, so for now I'll just wait until there's the next version of CheckROM with JKay or some comparable apk.

Hi .hide,
I think you put your question in the wrong thread. Try the CheckROM Revo thread instead.
1. However, from your question I think you did a full wipe install or cleared the user data. All is not lost:
If you re-enter your google account in App drawer -> Settings -> Account & synchronisation settings -> Add account, you'll have your Google account back.
If you then go to App drawer -> Settings -> Privacy and put a checkmark at Back-up my data and at Automatic recover, you should be able to get your data back, as long as you have put a checkmark there when still at v4.
If you did not check the 2 steps in the Privacy settings while in v4, you can use the recovery to go back to a Nandroid backup you made before flashing CheckROM v4. Then check the two settings and sync with Google.
Then flash v6, go to App drawer -> Settings and check at the two options in the Privacy settings. Then add the Google account and sync. This assumes you did a (full) wipe again.
Voila, you should have most of your calender, phone book, notes etc back.
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22688022&postcount=14287 for flashin tips.
If you want some more tips about backing up etc, please post me.
2. About JKay not working I am afraid I don't know whats going on.
However, are you using the stock theme or are using ICS theme from Vertumus? If you are, then please use the install file in Kitchen v2.21 (download from the Market) and not the two files on checkrom.com. Those two gave me problems with JKay just as well and made my phone in a booting over and over again. My advise is to first flash CheckROM Revo v6 again to get rid of Vertumus's ICS theme, reboot, an then flash the theme that's in the Kitchen. Then install other mods, apps, widgets etc from the Kitchen.
Kind regards,
Skully☺
PS: English is not the language of my phone, so some of the directory- and settingnames may be a bit different than written above.
Please hit the Thanks button if this post helped you.

Tips For Stock Rom User

Hi,
Today I'm going to talk about how I make my stock rom fast (Who care about what I'm using? Well, keep reading if you want to know) and tips for using apps, so let's get started.
1. You need to clean up all the junk apps in your phone. (Everyone know that ) Here is the extensive list of junk apps in our stock rom:
There are 73 useless apps!!
data\app\
com/afl.seucom.view-1.apk
come.sonyericsson.ia.uefalauncher-1.apk
com.wsandroid.suite-1.apk
org.microemu.android.se.appello.lp.wisepilotse-1.apk
system\app\
adobereader.apk
AntHalService.apk
antradioservice.apk
antstatenotifer.apk
appenable.apk
chinesetextinput.apk

eventstreamplugingtelephony.apk
eventstreamplugingtwitter.apk

fbcalendarsync.apk
fbiappshare.apk
fbmediadiscovery.apk
fbmusiclike.apk
fbsetupwizard.apk

timescapewidget.apk
trackid.apk
updatecenter.apk
usersupport.apk
visualizationwallpapers.apk
wallpaperspicker.apk
weatherwidget.apk
widgetdigitalclock.apk
youtube.apk
youtubekaraokeplugin.apk
2. download xperia s app v2
3. Remove: system\app\
Calculator.apk
SemcCalendar.apk
SemcDeskClock.apk
4. Don't flash xperia s app! Use only:
Calculator.apk (better UI)
SemcCalender.apk (better UI)
SemcClock.apk (better UI & more function)
SemcNotes.apk
Find SystemUI (notification bar with quick panel) that suite you the best and flash or use mind.
Why not flash all xperia s app?
Phone and contact is fast already (Xperia S phone and contact is slower)
Home (much smoother with stock launcher = laggy with Xperia S or Modified GX)
Messaging (good enough)
Gallery (use stock gallery for Bravia Engine, AOSP gallery for speed)
Music (Walkman use too much space in system and it's not very useful)
5. Best Launcher?
-Stock launcher
-Nova launcher
-Apex launcher
6. Best app?
-AOSP gallery (good look, pretty fast)
-Quickpic (build for speed)
-Google Play Music (free and clean UI)
-Poweramp (best sound quality and nice UI)
-MX player (easily the best)
7. Important
*Flash new Andreno lib
*Flash emoji font enabler if you want to view emoji
*If you use social app, try to move it from data\app to system\app. That way, you will free more space in internel memory.
Why? You're not gonna remove it because you use it everyday. There are alot of free space in system\app\ so why not use it.
*Go to settings - developers otions - window animation scale .5x - transition animation scale .5x. (I'm 100% sure that you will feel that your phone is snappier)
..................................................................................... Backgroud process limit at most 3 app (I'm sure that you always kill apps after you used it, so set it to 3. That way, you don't have to kill all the time) (remember to set it after reboot)
8. Uninstall unused app or once a month!!
9. Don't even use tweak (Personally, I don't see any differences)
10. Press thank if you think it's helpful.
Look at the attachment! I took a screen shot after reboot and kill some process (you will be impress)
Also include my modified systemUI.apk (If you like)
I think a brief description of each apk would be useful for some users in case they remove something they want to keep.
Also, don't the oma*.apk files let you download Internet/MMS settings from your provider? Or have I got that wrong?
Oh and on the arc 587 build Sony fixed the Calendar widget to show all-day events which you will lose if you flash the Xperia S v2 version of Calendar.apk - I've had this happen to me before.

good thread, i personally didnt remove stuff which normally you do not see running on services. theres no harm in keeping them like widgets and others which doesnt really make your phone slow (unless you use them) and you keep your rom as close to stock as possible. ofcourse unless you need some system apps space, which then you can use to transfer market apps to system apps to create more data app space.

Oma is not very useful for me because I only need to fill 3 line in order to get internet work. I forgot about calendar since I rarely use Calender widget.
Hey OP,
May I know how many user apps installed on your device? Helluva lot free ram you got there.. That way the android system can allocate more memory to the most used app imo..
Nice share dude

You should note there, that this is ICS only.
Xperia S apps will not work on GB.
And yes, I use rooted (personally edited and tweaked) 4.0.2.A.0.62, because ICS is fully crap.
how to move aplication from data/app to system/app?? because i got error when move it.

That time maybe 10 because I just flash the stock ROM. It is often 190 - 210 after a fresh reboot. If you kill some app that run in background like some Google services you will get about 210+

If you use PC companion to repair your device, you need to flash .431 kernel, root and flash .5... kernel again. Or unlock the boot loader, put ADV stock kernel and flash root by CWM. Repair your phone with PC Companion will hard reset and reflash your phone firmware. So you need to root again.
Very good tips!
I followed your thread and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470

[UPGRADE(Dirty Flash)]
I have noticed if you dirty flash on first boot you may experience a little lag or possible reboot. After it settles down no issues. Not sure if its art related on upgrades or what. Its hard to pin point as it only happens once and smooth after that. Recommend after an upgrade let it settle in before playing hard.
Thanks

FIrst boot is a little slow but that is due to art. I always recommend a clean install when upgrading but if you feel luck. Backup and try a dirty flash. If you have issues run a clean install and if you still have issues please post with a logcat. You can upload via bugreport in the toolbox under settings. If going from a differnt rom other then evervolv lollipop always clean install. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BACKUP its important if you don't want to loose anything

NOTE: NEED a clean install if moving from a previous version and or another ROM.

TP Toolbox v0.42 Complete Data Reset Guide with Updated Links
NOTICE: THIS THREAD WAS ABANDONED BY THE OP, BUT I WILL KEEP THE LINKS IN THIS POST UPDATED
This guide is for a complete data reset to start from scratch. You should only need to use TP Toolbox to either adjust partition sizes, or start from scratch if any partitions got corrupted or you get errors while adjusting partitions or installing new ROMs.
If you end up having to start from scratch in TP Toolbox v0.42, follow these steps:
- Download a TP Toolbox Compatible ROM
- Download a TP Toolbox Compatible GApps
- Download a TP Toolbox Compatible TWRP
I recommend keeping those files on your PC hard drive so you can always re-use them in the future if needed.
1. In the TP Toolbox v0.42 main menu, do a 'Complete Data Reset' to start from scratch
2. Select the 'Install Android' option from the main menu
3. Copy the 3 above files from your PC to the "tpinstall" folder after the TP is mounted
4. When given the option to adjust partition sizes, increase the System partition to at least 1312mb
5. Finish install, and reboot to TWRP
6. While in TWRP, flash the newer 3/24/17 TWRP 3.1.0.0
7. Reboot into the new TWRP that you just flashed
8. In TWRP advanced wipe menu, wipe the System partition
9. While still in TWRP, flash the Wifi model ROM or the 4G model ROM along with some OpenGapps

Thank you flintman for giving our touchpad a treat of fresh nougat.

Edit: are we required to use the new twrp recovery in the OP? I have twrp 3.0.2 with an older time stamp.

I actually enlarged the System partition to 1500mb just to be safe, and am testing the Nano OpenGApps. So far everything works great! I've installed several different apps, and all seem to work just fine with no FCs. I also get to test out the apps I'm developing on the Nougat OS, so that's really nice. I do miss CM theme support and the Evervolv toolbox, but I promise to be very patient; as I know those are out of your hands. I also flashed AdAway to the system and that is also functioning fine.
EDIT: For those who would like a flashable zip of AdAway to flash it to the System, I attached it to this post.
I dirty flashed over evervolve 6.0.1 and it boots up in about 6 minutes.
It feels much faster than 6.0.1 and the multi window is amazing.
There is no evervolve toolbox tab in setting, so there is no option to change the cpu frequency.
In the OP, it mentioned evervolve toolbox for bug report. Is the toolbox supposed to be absent?
Edit: second question: where do we control root permissions?

Im surprised a dirty flash worked. As stated above not alot of features have been added but the toolbox access at the moment is only though the launcher you should see toolbox just like any other app. Root permission is controlled though the toolbox as well.
How can we promote this thread to the xda news portal? Flintman deserves a spot there.
Edit: there is no thanks button any more on XDA? I can not find that button.
Edit: now the thanks button shows up. Weird.

Ok, it looks like my setup. I find in touchpad toolbox the partition "media". So "media is like "external" right?
And about "cm-cache", i think i set it up in the past from 200 to 1000. Is that better? So normally yes because
of more. But i don't know how android handle it. That's why i ask.

If you've switched to f2fs, then that's the reason. TPTB is unfortunately incompatible with it.
Hi didn't switch to f2fs. I downloaded the files and used pc tptb for the installation.. Currently I am trying to get wifi working better. I installed the job new rom and cm 12 going to the WiFi forum. I have just bought a new one that's 16 gig, it has WiFi access but falters..
But on this issue I will try to get it going on the other TouchPad see if it works..
Amazing stuff
Great job as always. Flintman, you have always been the first ou with the new release of Android since i have had a toucpad for the last few years. Congratulations again and thanks for all your work.
And Multi screen works too!
