People have had good luck with this company!
I successfully unlocked my device with the hidden options instructions. Popped in my sim that I had in my nexus 4 and it worked as it should. Did you follow the video tutorial?

Tried all that.. no luck. Also to mention.. S4 is updated to the latest update via Kies and has never been activated on AT&T network.
Could that have anything to do with unlocking issue?
Did it for two devices. Make sure you're using the back button in the menu and not the hardware key.

It's not working on some phones no matter how you do it.
I used Cellunlocker.net, it cost me $25 (more than many places) but I got the code in under 5 minutes.

I had to use the hidden menu option then put the unlock code that I received from att for the phone to unlock. Before I entered the code but it was unsuccessful. But after the unlock with hidden menu I was able to unlock with the code provided by att.

Why do you need to use hidden menu with official unlock code? (I am assuming you didn't had the different SIM in order to enter the code?)

The SHA256 setting has to be correct for the phone to take the code. The menu is used to change it to "on". Information about this has already been posted.

This one works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41580940&postcount=18
for 32Gb i337
i have a ROGERS Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M.
couldn't unlock the phone with hidden options. tried all the ways in this forum and in the end went to cellunlocker.net, paid 15$ via paypal, gave them the wrong IMEI number, talked to customer support to correct the IMEI number and eventually received a code that worked. all of that in less than 24H.
if you're not in a hurry to unlock your phone i would wait another week or two, i believe by then the method for generating the code to unlock the device will be shared here.
Won't work for me either, I researched and tried many times
I am on a ATT 32gb GS4 runnig the OTA MDL update, rooted with Motochopper, added the Xposed framework and then Nottach versions 2 thru 4 as they became available. I mention this in case someone knows that it wont work with the Xposed framework.
I went through the original threads about sim unlocking last week and followed them carefully step by step and just assumed it worked. Later that week I also did the AWS modification so the TMO sim would be worth trying.
This morning I got ahold of a TMO sim and popped it in and it asked for a unlock code! WTF, so I reread the threads, check my SHA256 setting to see if its really off and it was.
Rechecked the threads, found there are two different codes to get you to the same exact spot, decided that would make no difference. They all get you to the same spot eventually. There are differing opinions on how to finalize the process also, but both of them end up rebooting your phone for you.
Read through and tried through the last steps several times which included trying the [4] Restore Back-up to restore the "Golden_Backup" and then also another couple of attempts with [1] Load default NV. Still no luck.
I am assuming that the SHA256_off means that it is not going to check for a ATT security code on startup or something and the Golden_Backup is a hard coded setting that is not carrier dependant?
There are also a few other settings in the NV REBUILD section that I wish I knew the functions of. Particularly the [1] load default NV. Does this setting load the ATT NV settings back in again?
Also, do you get more than one shot at the Golden_Backup? Is it hard coded or is it just the original backup that of the NV that was there before the ATT version and once you screw it up its gone and over written by the ATT version?
It has been posted that sometimes it just wont work but I think that since its coded in it has to work, but maybe a setting needs to be changed or done slightly differently. I will keep looking and learning. If anyone has any ideas I would be happy to try them.
I am in the same position as you are. Tried several times with several different options, but no luck. And as I mentioned earlier, I updated the phone from Kies prior to trying to unlock using hidden options. Maybe that could have something to do with the phone not getting unlocked.. Will keep on researching and post updates.

Does anyone know where if there is a free or cheap way to do it?
Thanks in advance.
Can't unlock for free. Someone else can recommend you a place as I haven't bothered.
no free way, unless you call tmobile and get them to unlock it.
the way ive unlocked 2 heros is by using express-codes on ebay.

No, unlock is permanent.
Im currently locked to orange but have also purchased a code from the link above but aside from the being able obviously use different sims are there any other advantages to unlocking ?
Reason I ask is because im pretty sure that when I first rooted and loaded a custom rom I used an orange specific radio.....but more recent threads suggest radios are region rather than network specific....
I dont currently have any issues being locked so want to be sure there will be no adverse effects from the unlock.....
Cheers

No other unlocking advantages AFAIK, although orange uk is known to have issues on some of the radios if locked (to be fair, I think it happened only once or twice).
But I think that is all over. Radios are region/hardware defined, not network defined. Unlocking doesn't cause issues. In fact, unlocking was the way to use the "non orange" radio most recently on an orange phone.

This being a community of highly skilled devs, surely someone can figure out how we can unlock our phones without having to pay for the 'privilege'?
Even the guys we are buying the codes from must have figured something out or are buying the codes from elsewhere?
How exactly does this work? Where do you enter the unlock code?
I thought once you install custom firmware you phone will be unlocked...

They are buying their codes direct from HTC. And a method of unlocking for free is known, but it needs done before every boot, so it's not usable, as it needs a PC and home-made serial terminal cable to send AT commands to the radio chip IIRC.
The radio requires the code to allow access, and the codes are randomly assigned/generated, so there's no algorithm to reverse engineer.
You insert a SIM that your phone won't accept, and then you get asked for the unlock code at boot, just like entering your SIM PIN.
And at £6.75 for an unlock code, I'm not gonna spend hours on looking for a method I'm afraid, since I can't justify the time to myself.

dont see how this place having devs means that you get to unlock your phone for free. this place is for rom development mainly, if you want methods on how to unlock, there are forums like gsmhosting that deal with that.
the guys that sell the codes online havent "figured something out". they are providing a service which they also pay for, they are basically middle men. i suggest you research how unlocking via code works.
to unlock via code, you put in a sim that isnt allowed, eg a tmobile sim into an orange locked phone, then itll tell you "sim restricted" or thereabouts, and ask for the code. thats where you enter it.
custom firmware has nothing to do with unlocking, although in certain cases (eg orange firmware) custom roms or downgrading is required to unlock the phone.
still doesnt mean that custom roms actually unlock the phone.

if you had a look at his negative feedback, most of them had follow up comments by him which were removed by ebay. i managed to see one or two of them before they got removed, and they were basically things like "your wifes using the phone as a replacement for you lol", things like that. nearly all of his neg feedback had follow up comments removed.
was quite funny, but i think that it may be because of those comments that hes no longer registered. only a hunch mind you.

Unfortunately I have to say goodbye to my G2. I haven't had it very long and I couldn't even use it for its full potential but after about 4 hours each day a lot of reading and a lot of trial and error I think my device has an issue.
My G2 was unlocked with an unlock code and I've tried doing everything to get it to work on another network however I've failed. Now its time I move my G2 onto someone else who either lives in the states or well you know the rest.
It was a solid device - except for the annoying hinge.

I don't understand what you are saying at all. First you say you can't get connected to the network. Then you say it works, but not with 4G speed since your carrier doesn't support it. Sounds like a carrier issue, not a device issue.
Just making a call or sending a text (using any non T-Mob SIM) will verify the phone is SIM unlocked (you can just text yourself to test). To get the data to work (if it isn't), you may need to manually enter APN settings into the phone. That's what I had to do to get the data working on the US AT&T network using a Bell Canada branded Desire Z.
There have been a lot of problems with unlocking the Vision, particularly the G2, using unlock codes.
Much better is the "gfree" method which is free and doesn't need any codes entered. It also gives you some other useful stuff, like full radio S-OFF, as well as SIM unlock. Several people had big problems with their phones after using unlock codes, and that was sorted via gfree. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764

Could you give some examples of the problems people were having with their phones after unlocking with a code?
I've unlocked my Desire Z to work on Rogers with an unlock code, and I have some concerns about my phone now. I'm not sure if they're issues related to unlocking, or just functionality limits of the phone itself.
Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Nothing in that thread seems to be related to the issues I have with my phone.
I don't want to hijack this thread so I'll do some more searching and see if I can find anything pertaining to what I'm looking for. If not, I'll start a thread of my own and hopefully somebody can help me understand what's happening with my Desire Z.

Sorry if I confused you. Let me explain the issue I'm having, when I put my carrier SIM card into the device it asks me to put a SIM card in the phone and it will say "Emergency Mode", the part where I said "It works but it doesn't have the "4G" like speeds was a previous response to the thread where someone asked me if it worked on my carrier and thats why I said "It works but it doesn't have 4G like speeds".
I don't think its carrier because I've asked a few people on HowardForums and they did the GFREE method and loaded a custom ROM onto the device and it still didn't work.
I'm going to go and get some service on my account and I will see if it works - maybe it isn't working because I don't have service?

The hole that Gingerbreak v1.2 was using is closed in the US release. I also haven't had much luck using psneuter or rageinthecage via ADB either, however, I may just be doing it wrong (even though it has worked on other earlier phones, those holes may be closed too). Also unlocking the bootloader is going to be... different... due to the fact we don't have correctly reporting IMEI, at least to my understanding upon much reading.
Yeah it is pretty frustrating. Since I was able to mod my last two phones Droid Eris and the Droid Inc. But look at the bright side at least our phones are detected while in fast boot so I'm sure eventually something will come along that allows us to unlock the boot loader. What really burns me is that I'm stuck with this Verizon bloat ware until root is achieved.

Per SE's message before getting the unlock code from
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
"Enter your name, email address and the first 14 digits (remove the last digit) of your phone’s IMEI number. You can view the IMEI number by entering *#06# on your phone. It is currently not possible unlock the boot loader for CDMA phones."
The rest of the unlock process works it just fails when using the unlock code. Although I not sure if I provided the right number for the IMEI. When we do *#06# on our phones it gives us the MEID number instead. I read on another post that running command ADB devices will return the IMEI number and that what I used to get the unlock code I tried.

Gutted Bro,
Yet again 'yanks' get screwed by networks.
Truly gutted, past few years the culture of your mobile networks have been creeping in to the UK networks. hopefully enough users will revolt against them over here! 12 month contracts have been replaced with 18-24. paying for more things that were free! damn them if they start messing with phones! some networks still give you sim free handsets on contract and they best keep doing it!
(although I buy SIM free and just swap SIM )

Nope just the same MEID hex # as always. The only thing I have not tried yet is plugging in a SIM card from another network to see if I can get a IMEI # while its plugged in.

Although, I'm pretty confident I'll manage to unlock i9500, I can't say for sure concerning i9505.

Ah, I think it was your GalaxSimunlock I used for my S2 & S3. I think I bought it from the Play Store possibly?
Little question.
I have got an official unlock code from Three UK just tried it and it won't unlock. It says it's incorrect.
I tried it 3 times.
Could it be because I flashed a stock ROM (MDF)? And if I put the Three ROM back on would that make it work?
Just wondering before I call them up.

Flashing a different rom from stock does not effect the unlock codes to my knowledge in the same way you can't unlock the phone by flashing a rom.

I am not all that familiar with unlocked bootloaders but after skimming some of the posts on the Moto Z Force I am seeing a lot of discussion about, I replied to one thread decided perhaps I should start a new.
The bootloader is able to be unlocked from the settings menu.
First you must go to settings then about phone. Go to build number and tap it 7 times. This will enable developer options.
Again go to the settings menu, go to developer options and there is a toggle for OEM unlocking.
Hope this helps as I am new to xda(new member, long time reader)

Dude you rock! But will this allow root? Using known methods like ping-pong or towel root? I've been with Samsung for 6 years, so this Moto z force thing is still new to me. And I'm just starting to dig through the threads on this.
I just made the switch from Samsung myself so I am not entirely sure. I happened to stumble upon that accidentally and saw a few questions about unlocking a bootloader. Now I am not sure if it makes a difference but my device is not under contract as I paid full price and activated on prepaid.
This will not unlock your bootloader

This will not unlock your bootloader. This will not allow root. There is almost zero chance of this phone ever having its bootloader able to be unlocked and you can call Verizon at (800) 922-0204 to thank them for it. They are tyrants and I will never give them a dollar.
Yeah its the same for me, it will allow you to unlock the bootloader, but it will void the warranty so I haven't done it yet but I will later on. Hopefully it works! It make it really easy to root with Verizon.
Please read everything in this thread. Thank you.

Yeah, it doesn't work that way with Big Red.

Checking this box will NOT unlock the bootloader. Anyone that has had a phone where you CAN in fact unlock the bootloader knows this.
Would quadrooter exploits work on this phone? This phone is running the snapdragon chip set and has the following vulnerabilities:
CVE-2016-2503, CVE-2016-2504 and CVE-2016-5204
Y'all should be able to check your phones as well using the quadrooter scanner app from play s.

It would take an experienced dev to turn those exploits into a root avenue for us. I doubt that person will show up for this device.
They may very well show up. This is a new phone and somewhat a power house. A lot of people leaving Samsung and coming to this device. I just left the gs6. So I am still holding up hope. It's still new and may take a little time.

This will be one of the few Verizon phones which will get the Dev love it needs to be unlocked and rooted.Being now in my thirties and running Arch Linux for years I really don't care anymore,..there isn't a need for me ..I get my Rock's off on my box and keep my phone working .
I can clarify, my Moto Z Force does have those three vulnerabilities.
These vulnerabilities are global for Android MM, so perhaps someone, somewhere can use the exploit to gain root on Android - we'd be able to use that method on our phones. Here's to being hopeful!
