I am planning to buy S4
But I'm not sure which is better
Snapdragon 600
1.9 Ghz
Quad Core Krait 300.
or
Exynos5
1.6 Ghz Octal Core
Quad Core Cortex A15 / Quad Core A7
4g and installing roms is not important to me
Which is better in terms of performance? less lag ?
Which is better for gaming?

Hi,
Look HERE
That's a no brainer....the Exy. But does anyone really have a choice? Especially in America.
i have a choice they both are available the same price with local warrenty
The exynos here is cheaper online but for me, no 4G = no go. Since buying an S3 4G last year there is no way I can go back to 3G again.
The speed difference is enormous and 4G here costs no more than 3G. And on the Telstra network it's even better. Have hit over 50mbps on speed tests.

Over simplifying it the Octacore version is slightly faster but has a poorer battery (4G not withstanding). Snapdragon touch slower (but faster than most phones todsy) but it'll last longer. There are lots of debates on whether the Octacore version ca be improved but this is how it stands right now as the biggest differences.
Other option is Stock version......

Well, in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeRcKHF4bDc&feature=youtu.be&a the girl states that she can not tell a difference between the two....except in GPU power. So, if you like to have less GPU power...then yes, the Qualcomm would be what you want.

You have that a little backwards: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40554113
Also, go and ask any cedarview Atom owners what they think of the PowerVR SGX54x and the driver 'support' it gets. After that fiasco I would never buy another product that has a GPU from Imagination Technologies.

That is interesting. But seeing for myself in that video, it is hard not to believe that the Exy GPU is better.

Sure, no problem....It was "Exynos takes the edge, ie camera and GPU". You can also watch the video and see...physical proof is nice.
I see. So for someone who needs 4G and has a preference for CM or AOKP the Exynos is still a 'no brainer' simply because it's performance is slightly better on certain benchmarks?

Why are you saying Exynos GPU is better than S600? I saw benchmarks where the Adreno 320 beat the powerVR SGX544 (though benchmarks are sometimes useless ^^)

Hi I currently have an S3 i9300 and my company requires me to install MobileIron app and encrypt the whole phone; I find this slows down my phone considerably and often times I need to wait almost a minute for my app drawer to display my apps or some 20 seconds for camera to start.
Don't know if my experience with the S3 i9300 is only because of encryption app or also my processor-ram specs combination is not powerful enough to get a smooth experience.
So I'm looking to upgrade to an S4 but I don't know which version should I get based on which should be the faster one?
Should I get the 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor or a 1.6GHz Exynos Octa-core processor?

Octa core variant is marginally faster but does not support 4g
Snapdragon Is little slow compare to Octa core but support 4g
u can choose as per ur need
Both are good device
the i9500 is faster even though it is really a quad core phone and only 4 cores can be activated at the same time. but I've seen somewhere that Samsung said with android 5 update the phone will be a real octa core and all eight cores can be used simultaneously.
The change to a i9500/9505 for you will be very good because the s3 I9300 only has 1gig of ram compared to the i9500/i9505 that have new processors and 2gigs of ram. That extra ram will definitely make a difference.

What are you saying, Android 5 doesn't even exist. Also the Exynos 5410 won't allow all 8 cores only the exynos 5420 can which is only in the Note 3
So based on what you said, I could even consider the Note3 which has 3gigs of ram and expect even better smoother performance? Saying I wouldn't mind the extra real state needs if I could realistically expect a noticeable improvement over currently described S3 conditions...

If u can go for the note 3 and u don't mind it's size ... go for the note 3 and never look back ... but i suggest u wait if you can ofc for about a month to see how the s800 against the 5420 exynos compares ... it not so much about the ram except if you are a really heavy multitasker but the cpu and gpu which we know for sure that in the snapdragon case it's a considerable improvement especially in the gpu department and we ve yet to see how the new exynos chipset will compare to it's older sibling ...

This is what I'm talking about. And for now note 3 is not octa core either.
Why GT-I9505 is faster than GT-I9500 if it's a quad core? Apparently I'm lucky enough that GT-I9505 is even cheaper than GT-I9500 in the Motherland marketplace.
Also, is there anything that I need to check before purchasing? I can open the box, check what's on it, etc etc before buying it. Is there any fault I should check? Like S2 has few faulty models with bad chipset and you can check that easily before purchasing.
afaik the 9505 model has a Qualcomm 600 or 800, both in my opinion are better than Samsung's octa core. And besides only 4 cores are running at a time on the octa core.
It's more like two quad cores than eight concurrent cores. The one in the i9505 is faster.

You guys are forgetting 3 things
1.the octa core s4 has a cortex a-15 quad core as the bigger core which is way faster than the Qualcomm one as the Qualcomm one is a9
2.there might be lags in overall animations but benchmark wise the octa core beats the quad core to the ground
3.if u guys really wanna see which ones better.wait for a stable AOSP ROM for i9500 and then compare
Wait n see how smooth n fast the i9500 actually is without Samsung's crapware

I9500 is one of Samsung biggest failure, they rushed to launch it with their "octa" core, and they released an unfinished product with flaws.
I9505 it is faster after newer updates, and btw i9505 has OpenGL ES 3.0, i9500 doesn't.
So games will run smoother and with better graphics on Android 4.3+ on the i9505.
They're both great devices, but Samsung really fwcked up with i9500

I lost my trust in Samsung Exynos processor due to the Mali issues in I9300 which make the development of I9300 way slower than the USA's S3. It took CM team so long to get a stable build out of it.
Anyway the good thing about the I9505 over the I9500 and for me even the Note 3 is having a Google Edition. At least porting new Android versions from I9505G to I9505 is easier and faster access to updates.

Uhm the Adreno 320 is actually as powerful as the powerVR SGX544 MP3 even if its running at a slightly lower clock speed... Ive hit 21 fps in gfxbench T-Rex and 52 in egypt Offscreen so its definitely not weak... Its also much more power efficient... I can play asphalt 8 using the performance governor for a good 3 hours straight easily...

Imagination have pushed an API Extension which will enable OpenGL ES 3.0 key features.

Nope,GT9305 is even worse for gaming than GT9300. S3 is getting old and it's not smooth in gaming anymore. MC series were always laggy and stuttery,so if you want to be gamer of that game, then you will have some trouble. Other than that,S3 still handles games like Most Wanted,Asphalt 7 and 8 (medium) pretty well. MC5 has some constant FPS drops, maybe that will be fixed in future. But if you have some money,I recommend you to buy a better, newer device.

Nothing that a bit of... overclocking can do [emoji41]
Look, S3 is old, but, with the fact being old there is another fact, it can be tweaked good.
Install a custom rom by your choice and pair it up with a good kernel, play a bit with the clock speeds and governors and you will have a speedy phone.
FYI, MC5 on everything stock for me works on 15-20 fps, wich is good, but stuttery, but with OC beeing buffed it can top on 35 fps, wich is uncomparable to the stock, no freezes and works like a charm.
But, the drawback is, battery will run down preety fast so have a charger by your side.
Cheers
Oke thnx thats a bit more info then the first yea because the money is a problem in these times with kids in Euro zones soo gonna look for it for the rom when the phone arrive

It's not that the Snapdragon 805 doesn't perform as well as the Exynos 5433 SOC. They both are excellent performing SOCs. It's just that the Snapdragon 805 has a bad habit of overheating very easily, which is a common problem among Qualcomm's Snapdragon series of SOCs.

OK thanks guys but is real that adreno is better than mali gpu in gaming? Does the exynos lag with heavy games? And what about rom support? Do u think the exynos will ever get a stable nougat with working fingerprint and irblaster?

I've been happily using the Snapdragon 805 variant since launch week and it runs just fine. Battery is great, I get around 6.5h SOT if I do try push it (usually going to bed by the time it hits 4h).
Both variants are great, and you should have a similar experience on both on Android 6.0.1.

Exynos plays games like iPhone. See YouTube videos of Real Racing 3 & Nova 3 on N4 Exynos, N4 Spapdragon and then iPhone 6s.
That'll show you the difference right there.
My Exynos is super smooth and does not overheat ever + gets 7 hour screen on time
What more can you ask for?

The Mali T-760MP6 is a excellent GPU and will run any game you throw it's way like nothing. While the Adreno maybe slightly better. The Mali T-760 isn't a slouch in the gaming department either. I use my N910C for gaming all the time and I can literally play any game I want on it. Even République, which is quite a heavy 3D intensive game and my N910C runs it like it was nothing!

ROM Support seems good.
Check out the Exynos Development Section
Snapdragon for gaming, media, and vr. Exynos for multitasking and background processing. From what I've read, both are fairly comparable but exynos may have better chance of seeing nougat update since it's more widely used internationally.
Actually, I have used both of them.
The Exynos wins, at least in terms of a battery life (+30 min of SoT compared to the SnapDragon) and earbuds sound quality. Moreover, it heats up less than the Snap.
the n910c seems to be better in every aspect
Guys I had the snapdragon variant and I just got the exynos model now... Huge difference! The exynos hands down wins! By far better...

Lol I have 2 phone right now i i say that exinos in way back after snapdragon. Snap is better in every way. More powerfull cpu, ram., all test win snapdragon
Actually if you care about performance, go with snapdragon, but if you use it as daily phone and you concern about battery life, heating problem then exynos. BTW, exynos on galaxy note 4 has 64 bit processor, which means, it is a newer version of processor!!
