Yeah i am completely at stock

Oh there are various methods to do that, by using titanium or by cwm recovery both require root.
Check out this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931337
But that thread is old now you can flash complete google apps package /gapps from cwm recovery.. (gapps package can be downloaded according to your os)
If u need any help ping me.

More important question:
Are you sure you want to remain on stock?
If you want to upgrade your system with Google Apps, why not do the whole remake from ground up. It will be the same difficulty level as flashing Google Apps.
I was on stock for a year or two and It's no problem once you ROOT and flash Google Apps (I did everything myself), or just use MoDaCo's prebake with everything included.
But this is very very old stuff.
I have currently installed VegaBean Beta 6 and it's miles ahead of stock (don't forget to read installation instructions and partition your SD card correctly).
The only problem I have with this ROM is that it's eating my battery, but stock was also eating it.
You can also try the newest CM10.1 based ROM.
And if that just doesn't work for you, you can always flash stock firmware back (but I highly doubt you will ever do that once you go the custom ROMs way... stock rom... ewww ).

Here is a stock 3.2 ROM for P7310 (WiFi) that I built from a system.img and boot.img from P7310XXKJ4(thanks nirogu325!). This is good for folks that like stock and can't flash with ODIN and for ROM bases\components etc.
CWM Recovery flashable (system and stock kernel included)
Install wipe caches, dalvik cache, and replaces the system partition. It will not touch /data unless you do so in CWM (see install below).
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Rooted + busybox
Removed the plethora of annoying widgets from the home screens that came from the factory.
Removed some DOA 0 byte APKs (AndroidTabletGNA_v1.apk, BoxAndroidApp.apk, WeatherBugTablet.apk, and SamsungHelpCenter_P7310_v001.apk)
Works great with my v2 kernel for HC 3.2 If you had my kernel already, you need to reflash it after flashing this zip since it contains the stock kernel.
Note: This ROM is deodexed. It will boot slow the first time and apps will load slower the first time you use them. It will then get faster, so give it a chance.

StockHC32_P7310XARP7310UEKJ5.zip
Backup:
Backup your existing ROM with CWM first.
Install Fresh:
Wipe data\factory reset from CWM recovery and flash the zip. When it boots, it will start the setup wizard like you just bought it.
Upgrade:
If you have stock 3.2 KJ4, you may be able to get way with just a flash without wiping data. It seems to be working OK for me. If you have any issues, I recommend installing fresh. This worked great for me as well.
As-is...I will provide no support for this stock ROM.
Thanks a lot! Gonna flash this tomorrow (almost 12am here lol). Will let you know how your kernel goes on my tab this time (crossing fingers).

Overcome CWM Recovery - Nandroid Backup procedure: Go to the CWM Recovery > Nandroid menu > Backup or Restore. This ROM is already rooted if that was your last question.
Curious little typo Samsung made in the MTP Application, when you connect it says "MTP initialisation" instead of initialization. This is also present on the previous KJ4.

This firmware was leaked by samfirmware.com (soon to be sammobile.com). It is a stock ROM as the title says, but it is a leak (as in let's say a beta firmware), a stable one as I've had it installed since the 3rd of this month. If you'd rather wait for an OTA then you're welcome, it's all your choice. Be sure to follow instructions and you'll be fine with no bootloops. Don't be afraid to ask if help is needed.
So..XAR = EU and KHA=US I assume?
I think I read on overcome thread, saying there is no hardware difference between regions...just localized apps....which means ROMs are interchangeable?
Thanks for your time, guys!
Hey Motley!
Will there also be a 3G version of this rom? I'd like to install a stock android 3.2 rom to my 7300 but I don't find a version that is flashable with CWM recovery.

Sorry, this is just a stock Wifi-only ROM that is prepped for CWM flashing. nirogu325 pointed you in the right direction for the equivalent stock ROM for the 7300 (3G), but you have to use ODIN to flash.
The 3G folks really need someone to do some CWM conversions for the stock 7300 ROMs so you don't have to use ODIN all the time. ODIN is great for low level recovery when all else fails, but it really sucks for day to day use as well as for avid ROM flashers since you have to re-root and re-install recovery etc. If you do go through all these things, at least make sure you do a CWM backup so you have a quick way to flash back to stock next time.
When you say stock do you mean no TouchWiz or stock as in just a rooted/deodexed version of the standard Samsung ROM? I'm looking for a plain Honeycomb 3.2 ROM. I'm downloading this anyway but if someone responds before it'll save me a bit of time Thanks!

There are no 8.9 ROMs that lack TouchWiz yet. If you want lag out, change launchers. I suggest ADWLauncher EX due to its new hardware acceleration functions in tablets.
Yeah I've been using ADW and its great. It's just a few little things with TouchWiz that I don't like... I want a stock (black) launcher bar on the bottom and black system menu & browser.

NOTE: I only have the 7310 (Wi-Fi) unit so this is not tested for the 7300 KJ5.
I can help you out with the bar and toggle menu, but not the browser and Settings, I'm afraid. Here's a CWM flashable I made with images from the old Overcome 1.2 ROM and a revert just in case.

3.2 ROM issue with IMAP email client
Hey all,
I flashed this ROM and it works great with one exception. I use IMAP email which was working fine in 3.1 and works fine now with a 3rd party email client but with the mail app in this ROM all IMAP folders are empty. Sending emails through smtp okay but syncing IMAP results in only retrieving folders but all empty.
Any help or alternative is welcome, I don't want to go back but my only option is now POP or 3rd party IMAP app (which I don't like - they are all for lower phone resolution).
Thanks

How to install CM9 -- brick proof -- guaranteed :)

Galaxy Note N7000.
Was running stock ICS-ROM Samsung.
Always wanted to install and use a custom ROM but was always afraid of BRICKS..
But yesterday ended up being sucessfully running CM9.
Steps I undertook were as follows:
1. Installed Samsung Kies.
2. Check for update from Samsung Kies and updated Kies.
3. Connected my phone to Kies and checked if Kies detected the phone properly.
After sucess, exit Kies.
4. Downloaded PC Odin from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=815370&stc=1&d=1323799721
password:samfirmware.com
5. Download pre rooted GingerBread ROM
SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip (thx dr.ketan)
http://d-h.st/HJM
6. Run PC odin
7. Reboot Note in download mode
vol. down+home+power buttons
8. Connect Download mode note to PC
9. PC odin ID:COM turns yellow:
(ALL THE BEST NOW)
10. In PC ODIN
Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time ---> Ticked
Others --> Unticked
10. Click PDA and select the SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip you had downloaded.
Click start.
Wait for 10minutes.
Your phone will restart.
11. WOW..!!! now ur on a GB Rom
And its a safe kernel
Now you can play around
Plus already rooted
12. Now to get this GB Rom working
go to recovery mode (vol up + home + power)
clean dalvik cache and wipe data and factory reset
13. Time to install CM9
14. Download
CM9 latest nightly:
http://get.cm/?device=n7000
Googleapps:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
15. Copy these 2 files in the internal SD card anywhere (do not rename)
16. Reboot into recovery mode:
vol up + home + power
17. Flash the 2 files from where you saved them:
"install zip from sd card" option in recovery mode
now flash cm9 file
then flash gapps file
18. DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
19. Reboot
And wow..
Enter the world of custom ROMS
[[[to switch to another ROM, follow steps 1 to 17, and after that flash the ROM of your choice]]]
Steps 6 and 9

Yes, you can follow this guide safely. Actually, this is the best guide I've seen so far, I wish I had this one the moment I wanted to start messing around with my phone because I spent more than 48 hours total reading and reading and getting more confused each time.

And the last one, probably silly question, what CM9 rom is this? Will i have GB or ICS? And if thats GB where can i find safe ICS rom?
Before Galaxy Note, I used to rock HTC Wildfire and didn't wanted to mess around with custom roms because it was just low-end device. Third-party launchers did the job for me when it comes to customization.
When I bought Galaxy Note, I was looking forward to flashing Cyanogenmod or maybe something different (I like Paranoid Android rom and the hybrid mode). I was very disappointed to see that there is a brick bug.
Even though I'm a IT engineer and I have been using computers since Commodore 64, I don't have experience in flashing custom roms so this post is very useful if it's the best way to do it.
Do I have to flash different stock GB before rooting, because I have XXLA6 kernel (baseband: xxla4) and I believe that this version is not directly rootable? Correct me if i'm wrong?
What is the best way to return from custom rom (ie. CM9) to stock GB?
In fact, I've been reading for a good amount of time today but there is just too much information, so sorry for the noobish questions.
I installed rom before 2 days and had similar doubts.
Just want to share what problem I faced :
The mobile should be in ON state when rooting CF I was doing it in OFF download mode

CyanogenMod 9 is based on ICS, CM7 is based on Gingerbread. There wasn't a CM8 because Google never released the source code for Honeycomb.
And what you need is a safe kernel, because the kernel is what sends a erase command to a chip inside the phone and that's when you brick it (I think). That happens when you do a factory reset.
Now, what I always do when I want to change ROMS is to use AbbysNote 4.2 as a safe GB kernel so I can then flash the ROM/Kernel of my choice.
You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362424&highlight=abyssnote
So let's say you want to go from CM9 to LiquidSmooth (or pretty much any other), which is the one I use now:
You go to CWM recovery, from there you flash AbyssNote.
Once the flashing is completed, you DO NOT exit CWM, instead you go to "Advanced" and then "Reboot to Recovery" so the phone will restart but it will go directly to CWM again, but now with AbyssNote installed.
AbyssNote has a TOUCH based recovery, so it is easier to use. Don't use the physical power and volume buttons to navigate.
From there you can safely do a factory reset, format cache, format Dalvik, flash a new ROM and Kernel.
AbyssNote will then disappear because it will be overwritten by the new Kernel of your choice. So every time I want to change to a new ROM, I repeat the steps above I haven't had any problems whatsoever.
I hope I'm right with my technicalities, but the procedures the OP and I describe are safe to try as long you follow the exact instructions, so before you try anything, read and re-read and you will be just fine.

Thanks for this great guide! I haven't gotten my Note yet as I just ordered it yesterday but I have been lurking around the forums already and trying to understand how flashing roms and kernels works around here. Like someone already said before some of the guides / threads are 'a little' confusing for newcomers. I was really confused with the brick bug that people were writing about. This thread clarified things a lot for me and I believe it will help many more Note-newbies!
So, new Note community member reporting to duty here! :highfive: It's gonna be pretty neat upgrade considering from what phone I come from. Well, the Huawei at least was great step stone to android world gotta admit. I just got somewhat bored with the not so great custom scene.

Dont worry about AbyssNote, is safe in both respects. That's the one I always use to do anything that is flashing related.
If, for some reason, you start seeing that dreaded triangle at boot, you can use TriangleAway from Chainfire on Google Play.

I will stay on CM9 (and CM10 when it comes) as long as is stable to use it as a daily driver. I don't like the TW interface and I don't need all that S-Pen stuff and pressure sensitivity. Apps from the Play Store are enough for me (Papyrus for example) so there's no need to stay on stock rom.

I have the brickbug firmware also. So am I correct in assuming that if I follow these directions and flash a different GB rom that I will be okay?
Will flashing this India GB rom change my kernel to a more stable one?
And if I flash this India GB rom will it be able to update to ICS through Kies or OTA?
I'm not new to flashing as I used to rom my EVO a lot... I just haven't done it in about a year and this brickbug mess has me standoff-ish.

If you are on GB already, you just have to root the ROM and flash CWM because the brick bug is present only on ICS kernels. 99% sure.
There are some GB Stock ROMs that you cannot root directly, so it depends.
OTA updates from Samsung to ICS I'm not sure, you should ask someone else. When I got my Note it already had ICS, so I never did an OTA update. I don't use Kies at all.
I was very weary at first too, but with the instructions above you will be fine.

[Q] Help With JB Energy™ Rom

Just recently flashed a friend's phone with Energy Rom. The rom looks amazing and is very well designed. There are just a few issues that he is having and I have not seen anyone else experience these problems in the tread. (Too few posts to post there)
Her camera is not working and I guess her Hotspot gave her a "timed out" message. . . . If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know if you were able to resolve this and how.
Thanks!

Are you on the 4.1.2 update? If so you will need to flash back down to 4.1.1 kernel because the new kernel is not compatible with the 4.1.1 camera

Energy ROM is based off of the the 4.1.1 build, the latest update has the XT907 at 4.1.2. So if her phone was previously on 4.1.2, then flashing this ROM could cause problems as the previous poster mentioned due to the new kernel. Not sure if the developer will update his ROM any time soon (which I loved by the way, and keep checking his thread for any updates),
also, Energy ROM can only be installed via SS right now, and given that the bootloader has been unlocked, I believe that all ROMs will be flashable via TWRP/CWM going forward - thus making SS obsolete for the XT907.
Here's what I suggest though:
unlock bootloader
install TWRP recovery
try out the DeadRage ROM, which is based on the 4.1.2 build: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/17778-romretail-deadrage-v12a-05092013-412-base/
if you really want to stick with Energy ROM with working camera, then you still can:
flash back to stock (4.1.1)
root
install SS
unlock bootloader
install TWRP
install Energy ROM on Slot 1
backup Energy ROM via SS
move Energy ROM to stock slot via SS
backup Energy ROM via TWRP (basically making a nandroid, and this can be installed going forward as a backup)
uninstall SS
Thanks!

no worries - we all were newbies at some point in time.
I have not seen a thread dedicated to the stock 4.1.1 kernel, but I did find this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017200
my advice at this point is to backup your apps/data via TiBu (and then copy that backup folder to your mnt/external1 directory).
so that way, after you pick your ROM, you can re-download your apps from the market (I always recommend doing this as opposed to letting TiBu restore them), then you can use TiBu to restore data ONLY from your apps. I do NOT recommend restore system data though when switching ROMs (however, I do restore WiFi settings and bluetooth pairings).
hope this helps.
All worked out great! I appreciate the help. I ended going with Energy 4.1.1 I have that stupid grateful dead image stuck on first power up due to rage. -Annoying!!

[Q] Noob needing help updating and backing up

Hi all...sorry if this is very noob but hope someone can help me out...
i got my galaxy s4 for att and its been great so far...i did root it and got rid of all the junk stuff on the phone which was nice to do... but a little issue now..there is an OTA update and its trying to apply it by rebooting but it goes to my console screen i guess and i know even if it applies it it would get rid of root.... is there a way to apply this without having to reinstall all my emails (5 emails) and my apps and keep the root ability on it? I would love to get the feature to send apps to my SD thats the only reason i really want it.
again im sorry if this is very noobish to some of u but would like a nice guide if possible how to do it.
Thanks in advance
What device? Thats important, and DO NOT let it do the update. if you are rooted, you could freeze the samsung updater.
I would get off stock and flash a custom rom.

hehe I know you stated galaxy s4, but I needed to make sure, US version right?
Use my rom, mine is totally stock, with a few modifications, and FAST!
or you can go any TW rom.
here is mine..
[ROM] ViSiON-X v1.0|AROMA|4.2.2|MGA|TW|[08-03]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391142
then you will not have to worry about an update, until someone finds a patch for the update...

I use Infamous S4 as well, I love it. It's pretty stock feeling.
When it comes to the backing up part, I suggest Titanium Backup. Get the pro version and you can batch install all of your apps from a backup, otherwise you have to do it one by one. It also saves all app data and system data and accounts, so you can do a full wipe when installing an update or a new ROM (always a good idea,) then just let it completely restore the phone from a backup. You can use it to back-up everything, except for the home-screen layout (android limitation apparently.) Plus you can backup right to the phone if you have space so you don't have to wory about using the computer. I recomment getting a microSD card for 10 bucks at Staples and backing up to that. When you're restoring, make sure that you check what you're restoring. Most of the stuff in red are system apps that don't need to be restored (as newer or the same versions may already be installed from the update.)
For restoring root priviledges, CWM and TWRP custom rrecoveries have a tool for this.

A question before returning to stock

I'm currently on CloudyG2 3.3 and TWRP 2.8.7.1. I've decided that custom ROMs are not for me and that my best bet is return to stock ROM, then de-bloating it later when I root and install TWRP again (I'm assuming that flashing stock ROM will get rid of everything I've made including rooting of course and my custom TWRP recovery). I've a little question though:
When I hooked up my LG G2 (D802) to my Windows 7 x64 machine for the first time, windows immediately identified it and I was able to to transfer files to/from my device. As an extra step, I've installed the drivers from a file called "LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.0.4.exe" and it installed successfully. Now, When I plug my phone in download mode in order to flash it by clicking the button "CSE Flash" in the "LG Flash tool 2014", Windows start installing something as if it discovered something new and after many minutes of waiting for that green small circle revolving around in the taskbar to stop, I got the message "Device driver software was not successfully installed" which doesn't make feel any good about going on with the flashing. Should I be concerned with that message or it's just a stupid windows thing and the drivers are indeed installed perfectly fine and that the flashing of stock ROM should go well?
Why don't you just flash one of the rom zips from the thread that has the stock roms already rooted? You won't have any troubles

I never thought that this is possible from what I've read previously on some thread somewhere about someone asking if he could have his stock rom in kdz format into a format understood by TWRP and as far as I remember, the replies were saying something like this is v. difficult to do and there's no point in using TWRP to flash stock which kinda defeats the purpose of using TWRP in the first place bla.
+ all I've seen here are custom ROMs. I'm not sure which thread you're talking about which has the specific stock file of my phone (D80230c_00.kdz) in a format that is understood by TWRP?!
My cell was bought from the UAE (Emirates) market which I think they've imported from the UK so I'm not sure if this firmware is the one: SRK - D80230a - 20150403-droith.zip

Of course it is possible. Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development-d802/rom-stock-30d-flashable-zip-t3070383
It's for d802

Thanks for the thread and the info though. I'm just a little worried about pre-modified ROMs because e.g. I didn't have vodafone bloatware in the first place in my orignal stock rom as mine is international so I'm not sure what this guy's ROM is all about so I'll stick with the KDZ file which I've already downloaded but just waiting to have a confirm about that driver thing i asked in my OP

Just a suggestion:
Before you flash the KDZ file, try Cloudy Stock 2.7 ROM, one of the most popular ROMs for LG G2. KitKat based, rooted, debloated, better camera app, ART support, NFC / IR support... + Dorimanx 10.9 kernel to fine tune your device for better performance and / or battery life. The result is faster and more stable device compared to stock firmware. And many users report the phone works better on KK than on LP.

I don't think I'll like this idea. It's similar to downgrade from Window 7 to Windows Vista! I won't be able to tolerate using Vista as well as KK

It's just the opposite in this case. This particular device works better on KK (stock firmware). There is even a video showing the difference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42gRpa5qfKo. But you are free to decide what you want to run on your phone, it's yours. Good luck!

Ok, it won't hurt to give it a shot after I settle down with a daily driver ROM. Thanks for the suggestion though .
Since I'm stuck with the KDZ file from LG, I've gone a head and downloaded the ROM file from the previously mentioned thread of the ROMs ready to be used with TWRP as suggested by @migueldbr and it installed OK.
My main concern now: is it possible to flash the debloat file "FullStockG2LPDebloater.zip" (which I got from another thread here) with the nearly stock ROM I've currently installed? or it is meant to work with 100% stock non-modified ROM from LG?
P.S. I've used that particular ROM: SRK-D80230a_20150403_droidth.zip
You don't need to use any special debloater tools. Install "System app remover" from Google Play, run it and remove the apps you don't need / use. The app will tell you which one is safe to remove. It also keeps backup of uninstalled apps in case you change your mind later.

you can use the debloater, no problem. It searches for the apk name and removes it so it works with any stock based rom probably. But to be sure, do a backup in twrp before doing it. Or just use titanium backup or another system app remover and manually delete the apks you dont want
