Volume is locked - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I am not sure what I did, but for some reason I can no longer change the volume.
Im not talking about on the lockscreen, but on a homescreen.
If I push down on the volume rocker I get an audible tone and a message in the notification area that the volume is locked. The slider moves about 3mm but returns back to its original position.
Does anyone know what I may have accidentally enabled?

Disabling the volume control screen when in conversation?

Guys, I don't know if this annoys anyone, but it does annoys me.
When in conversation, the screen went blank to prevention hitting any keys accidentally, but when I tried to higher or lower the talking volume, the HTC volume adjusting screen would pop and since my ear would be sticking to the screen, so at the end of the day, I can't adjust the volume without taking the phone off my face and then adjust then tap the power button to turn off the screen and put it back to my face.
does anyone got annoyed by this and could anyone fix this?
thx

Lockscreen volume shortcut customization?

Been looking through my Nexus for some options on this. I would like to have it switch between Vibrate and Loud instead of Silent or Loud. I for one have no use for silent mode. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing? Couldn't find anything on this. Thanks!
There sorta is.
Prese and release the power button to bring up the lock inscreen, then if you hold down volume down + top power buttom for a second or two, it'll go to silent mode. The volume rocker is then active until the screen shuts off. So for those five secs you can adjust the ringer volume. Tape volume up once and it'll take you to vibrate mode.
Same thing to bring back to loudest ringer. Hit the power button to bring up the lock screen then holdVolume up + power for a second or two and it'll go up to highest ringer volume.
Alternatively, just hold down the power buttong to bring up the "Airplane/Silent/Shut down" menu. From there you can hit volume up/down to adjust your ringer. Vibrate is one click up from silent.
Ah. Well that's a shortcut i didnt know. Not exactly what I was hoping for but thanks for the tip!
I hope that this gets changed in an update. I'd like to have the option to switch the phone to vibrate. Kind of like the hardware switch on the Moto Cliq.
Check out the apps from kaa on the market. They work for me to lock the volume keys to my liking.

Volume slider disappeared??!

For some reason when I play music through my HTC the green volume slider doesnt display anymore when I turn the volume up/down using the buttons on the side of the handset...I simply get a black bar that spans the length of the screen.
Anyone else got/had this? Any ideas how to bring the green volume slider back??! Its doing my head in.
Use the search function This has been asked many times before. This goes together with the set of taskbaricons u have installed which is not compatible with your Manila-/Sense-Version. In every Taskbar-Mod there is a HTCVolume.dll which has to match your Manila-Version. Just read what the developer of the taskbar writes about compatibility.
Cheers

In-call volume up-down (volume control responds but volume remains same)

Hello,
I have this problem, which I see was also present on the G1 phone (but with Android 1.6). If I press the up-down buttons to modify in-call volume, the graphic bar indicator moves, but the volume stays the same.
For all other things the volume buttons are working ok.
Does anybody know if there is a fix available for this? Any workarounds? I know about the secret codes, but I want to be able to adjust the volume easily if I am in a noisy area for instance.
I am running stock firmware.
Thank you

Anyone else having issues with thier volume control? Sometimes it doesn't want to work at all, i'll press the button but the volume doesn't change I have to move the bar manually. I also noticed I can't click on the speaker icon and mute the sounds.
