Question about SPB Shell and TSF shell launchers? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I like both but TSF Shell is so much better. My only complaint is crappy widgets. Is there anyway I can rip the widgets from SPB Shell for TSF Shell? Like the Callender for one.

Have you tried using 3rd party widgets such as Pure Calendar, Beautiful Widgets, HD Widgets, etc? If I remember correctly you can also use widgets for ADW and Go Launcher on TSF. Stock TW widgets work as well.

Lol thank you again for helping. Most of the TW widgets got altered big time in TSF which is weird. They are not even close to what they should be. I will check the go widgets for sure I haven't played with the HD Widgets mostly due to idk if I want it.

I have both SPB and TSF but use TSF on my S4 and use HD Widgets for weather/clock and Pure Calendar for the calendar. Have used ADW calendar and other widgets in the past and they seemed to work/look fine on TSF.
The devs are still hard at work on TSF and I think once it comes out of beta (2.0) some more widgets will be released for it. Just a hunch.

I didn't realize it was beta till just now. Thank you for that. For what they got going so far is amazing. I'm really fond of rhee lasso mode and the free placement of the icon. Leaves so much for style it's insane. But I actually have beautiful Widgets pro and use that for my super clock, clock/weather I am really fond of the weather system built in it. I will definitely check out pure Calendar for sure. HD Widgets has a nice set up for sure but I will have to play with it.

I've been wondering this too! I love everything about LauncherPro except the lack of widgets! I never realized how nice HTC's widgets are until they were gone
Nope, and nope!! The HTC widgets are tied into Sense, lose sense, lose the widgets. There are a few in the market that replace the cool ones like the weather and clock. Beautiful Widgets is pretty ill, and very customizable, worth $2 in the app market.

Wrong section, this belongs in Themes & Apps.
There are already too many threads on this, please use search next time.
So far the 2 favorites seem to be ADW and Launcher Pro, each has their pros and cons.
ah ok... sorry those are the ones im debating over...
I prefer Launcher Pro for it's speed and new widget skinning, but ADW is nice for dock customization and theming.
Depends on the person, really.
well i am using launcherpro right now not paid version and the only things that i would think of updating for would be resizing and the launcherpro widgets... but i looked at them right now and i dont think i will ever use any of those widgets
I use LP Sense UI.
Heavily modified LauncherPro Plus mod that looks and acts identical to Sense.

I've been using Zeam Launcher the past few days and am VERY pleased with it.
I just recently started using launcher 7. It's fast, stable and handles live wallpapers like a dream. Widgets even work. It's like a more customizable and functional wp7 ui. Ms should be made this is out lol the devs pooped on they're version.

ADW ex for me. Fast and smooth and I love the dockbar.

Been using GO launcer recently really like it even tho I have launcher pro paid
Used to love Launcher Pro until I tried Go Launcher.
My vote goes for Go Launcher w/ Folder Organizer.
I have paid LP, Adw EX and tried SPB, Regina and Zeam. I really like ADW EX and it seems to use less memory compared to LP. My phone doesnt like Zeam at all, its a memory hog on my Epic. SPB was disappointing, it doesnt do anything better then adw or lp; same thing with Regina. Overall my favorite at the moment is Launcher Pro (paid), it seems slightly smoother animaton wise compared to adw.
GO launcher EX is my new choice because you can customize the home screens on the fly. You can add or delete screens and change the order easily. You cannot do this in Launcher pro. Go also has tabs in the app drawer which includes a task killer. IMHO it combines all the best features from both.
I liked the go launcher until it kept resetting my screens, and always setting them back up pissed me off...
Been on zeam for a while now, liking it a lot, no issues thus far
Edit: that was on my old epic though, perhaps my new one will play nicer
+1 on GO Launcher EX
Smoothest launcher, very customizeable and free.

After using Zeam, Launcher7, LauncherPro, and Adw...I'm going with ADW. Its fast, reliable and smooth. Sexy dockbar with is customizable as is everything else about it. Its my personal favorite.

Either LauncherPro Plus or ADW EX. I paid for both and can't really decide so I use both of them

I had some similar issues with Go Launcher EX, but they updated it several weeks ago and it's been rock solid since.
I've got to give a huge +1 to Go Launcher for one reason - the app drawer customization. Has extra "tabs" for recent apps and running tasks, but most importantly it has the ability to create your own folders for organization. I've got folders for media apps (gallery, movie players, music players, etc), games, finance, and system tools. So much easier to find things and lets me keep my home screens clutter free.
LauncherPro, because their widgets are hard to beat. The facebook widget is better than anything else I could find, and now that they added custom skinning they are even better.

Sense based customizable (adw-launcher pro) launcher

Pretty much I'm asking. Is there a launcher that is like adw and launcher pro but is compatible with sense widgets.
I've been looking but not finding.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There isn't one. Sense, including the widgets, is proprietary to HTC and they are very quick to sue when it comes to their property. There are some skins available that make use of the google apps, calendar and music, that work well with LauncherPro. I've used Pure Music Widget by francois Deslanders and it has a nice transparent 4x4 widget.
Sad face...
Hmm I see the issue. No one would wanna do that work for free. Thx for quick response.

I've seen and tried some of the things you pointed out. But I guess I'm really just trying to make use of my sense rom. I'm using launcher pro and I love it but not being able to you the weather widget has always bugged me.

Beautiful Widgets has almost the exact same weather/clock widget as HTC, plus hundred of others to choose from. Only problem I ever had with it is it gets my location wrong sometimes.
Thx I've looked into beautiful widgets but I'm talking about the full screen weather widget the one with the forcast.
The reason I was asking was mainly because of the resizing of widgets in these launchers.

Yeah it only has a 4x1 weather widget which kind of sucks. Launcher Pro does allow resizing but it just keeps the same 4x1 widget and enlarges it to about 4x2 and it doesn't look good.
Cool so I just got done trying out the go weather app. Its not bad but I only really like it because of the live wallpaper.
But for that same reason It's not what I'm looking for. I do appreciate the idea. Oh well still looking.
I guess what I'm really looking for is that sense 4x4 forcast widget on one of my launcher pro screens. (I know not possible lol)

Launchers Review [12/2011]

Well after a long time trying lots of different browser, I'm back to the good old ADW EX (1.3.3.56 as of now). But I'll state here some experiences I've had during the process, as I believe I've tried some browsers not many have known of:
_ Launcher Pro: once the best launcher out there, for its smooth performance and rich settings. Comes with a set of useful widgets like facebook, twitter, sms,... (gmail is broken as of now). But hasn't been updated for a long time, so it's somehow outdated in comparison to other ones.
_ GO Launcher EX: one of the most popular right now, with almost everything you've ever wanted: the smoothness, support for many cool themes, widgets, even a lockscreen (GO Lockscreen),... But somehow the performance is therefore reduced, I personally find it not as smooth as ADW and Launcher Pro (especially in the app drawer).
_ Zeam Launcher: like Launcher Pro, it's popular from the good old days, mostly for the minimalist feeling. No fancy stuff, just basic functions but the performance is solid. Unlike Launcher Pro, it's still often updated.
_ Tencent Desktop / MIUI Mod: A new feeling with eye-candy graphics, but the smoothness is nowhere near Launcher Pro or ADW EX's level, not even close to GO EX. Nice set of widgets and icons also.
_ Espier Launcher: Another aproach, this time with iPhone-ish feeling. It has the iPhone icon effect, the homescreen is now filled with apps and no more widgets. It's up to users to decide if they like that or not. The performance is pretty solid also.
_ MX Home: pretty much like the other basic ones, but with an innovative app drawer with useful function, categories,... It also has a theme page (think of it as another page on the homescreen, farmost to the left, that can be changed with themes and is nice looking.
_ Hi Launcher: the successor to the Panda Launcher, it introduces a new layout of homescreen: widgets on top and apps in the bottom (swiping up and down maximizes the corresponding area). The smoothness is quite good, and it also has a lockscreen app and theming engine. The icons are a little small for me, and I didn't see any option to change that.
_ Regina and SPB Shell 3D: Both are 3D-oriented launcher, each with its own eye-candy effects, but for me that's too costly for the rather slow performance (on my phone).
And finally, the good old ADW Launcher EX: it's been on the market for about as long as Launcher Pro and GO EX, and also offer a nice set of features (theming, etc). The smoothness, for me, is top notch (with the right settings of course), and overall performance is very good.
Cool but you forget a lots of interesting launchers like QQ Launcher Pro or Claystone IMHO, Launcher Pro is the smoothest launcher ever!

Have you forgotten about CC Launcher, it's like Regina and QQ Launcher, rather sluggish in performance but stylish, also a quite frequent one of mine is Xperia Arc Launcher w/ 4 corners, I wish it had settings, this is not to be confused with the dock back version

Replace the Default Launcher

How many of you have replaced the default launcher on your S4? What launcher are you currently using?
I switched from the TouchWiz launcher to Nova Launcher. It now has the ability to utilize the "Transparent Status Bar." If you are using one of the stock wallpapers, your status bar can be transparent while you are in the launcher, just like TouchWiz.

I've used go launcher for a long time. I'm thinking about switching to nova though. It seems like it has a lot of cool features.
Buzz Launcher ftw.
I've tried both Nova and Go on my S4. I liked both but am staying with Go for now. No big reason why. I just like some of the Go widgets better.
I use to use Nova all the time on my EVOs, but I didn't know if anyone noticed a performance degredation by switching launchers or not. I know until rolled Nova into my ROM on the EVO that it would chew down memory and slow down the device.
I use Nova.

Hey nivron, or anyone using nova. Does that transparent nav bar feature only work on stock wallpaper? Or does user wallpaper show thru too? I'm willing to give Nova a run if so. I hate not having a transparent bar. And just confirming its the top bar with the clock/wif etc.?
Thanks

No offense to you or either of those launchers, but that is just not true. Go has between 50 and 100 million downloads. The other two are between 1 and 5 million downloads. Heck, Go has over 1.2 million reviews! So I'd say Go is, by far, the most popular.
My question to you all that have replaced your default launcher with the launcher of your choice is this:
Do you notice a higher memory consumption or an increase/decrease in lag vs the default / Touchwiz
For me, Nova is as fast, if not faster than TouchWiz. I didn't really think TouchWiz was really laggy though.
