Is it possible to hook up and xbox or even the DVR to my phone and use it as monitor to play games on? That would be so cool

Lol....I guess that would be cool but no, there are no video inputs on the phone. It's a one way street, output only. For this you'll need an MHL-to-HDMI cable.

G1 Remote?

is it possible to make a app for g1 that allows you to use it as a universal remote for your tv?
The G1 doesnt have IR.
I think you would need ir for it to work

It doesn't have rf eathier does it?

nope, would need one of the two
unless you have your tv hooked to your comp via a network and you play movies from comp to tv and your comp can recive wireless controls from your G1 but that's too much work for me. the HTC 8525 could do it though(but it's an old phone)
remote droid
For controlling your tv there isn't a way without rf or ir, unless someone comes out with some crazy adapter. As for computer control try RemoteDroid. It has come in handy for my lazy ass more than once. I use it to control hulu on my tv through the computer

The A500 is compatible and seems to work fine. I've downloaded it and gave it a try in FPse. I'll try it out with some emulated Mario to see if I notice the same lag I do when using a Wii remote in SNES9x EX, but I have to go to work.
Edit: Now I went through this quickly, but am I correct in thinking that this requires a PC in order to reslave the Sixaxis to a new device?
Only needed if you want to use Bluetooth, as the sixaxis works fine wired using 3.1.

The issue I have when I use it wired is that the Start button always brings up the home screen. That means I can't map anything in games to Start.
This works fine on my phone, a friend recommended it.
However, I cannot get it to work on my iconia a500. I made sure that the controller is using the same bluetooth mapping, and when I turn it on, it definitely syncs with the iconia (the controller goes to port 1, and when i turn bluetooth off on the iconia, the controller turns off), however, the program never shows "Client Connected: 1" like it does on my phone. Ive changed the input type to Sixaxis, bluetooth IS enabled, the phone IS rooted and the controller technically does sync with the tab, but it doesnt load in the program.
Any ideas? Anyone else run into this.

ICONIA have native wired compatibility.. why actuallyy u need this ?
Make sure you're not running the Compatibility Checker app in the background (i.e. be sure to stop the compatibility checker before starting the main app.

Hook your Iconia up to the TV via HDMI, put it down on the TV stand so it's not in danger of being tripped over and game from your couch. Totally worth the cost of a soft drink to me.

Absolutely agree. Using this app on my TF, plugged into AC/HDMI and can play from 15 feet away on my couch. Absolutely worth 2 clams.

I just brought my pad over to my friends house hooked it up to their TV and played some SNES Secret of Mana and NBA Jam. Totally worth it!

love it!
I totally picked this up in an instant... going wireless is so much better, and the keys are remappable, so in that way it's better than what you get using it over USB. Plus this way I can put all of those huge PS1 roms on my new 32GB USB stick and not have to worry about having no port left for the controller. Also enjoyed playing Cordy console-style with the tab hooked up to the TV and using the DS3... the beginning of the future is here, my friends.

In this case we used some Wii remote as well as I've only set up one Sixaxis with the pad. I'll test out 2 Sixaxis eventually.
So I tested connecting to controllers. The app will recognize them and the corresponding lights with light up on them. Unfortunately I couldn't use more than one on SNES9X EX because it can't set two player inputs to be "keyboard."
I also tested it on FPse for PS1 emulation. I was able to map the buttons on both controllers but then I tried to use the second one in Tekken 3 it spazzed out like crazy. I don't know if that was an issue with the Sixaxis app or the emulator.
Edit: I just experienced a random restart of my tablet while using this app in SNES9x EX. I'm not sure if this was an issue with the Sixaxis app, HDMI out, or something else but I lost over an hour of Bahamut Lagoon and have to repeat an entire battle.
hell i went and bought a ps3 controller cause i dont own a ps3. but i love using the ps3 controller over the wiimote any day. lol is it wrong to charge my ps3 controller with my xbox? bahahaha
this app is great and its very easy to set up, just like the wiimote controller app but one more step
So i could use the controller to play sayyyy Dungeon Hunter 2 or N.O.V.A or is it only for Emulators?

[Q] Hdmi gaming

I want to hdmi out from my a500 to 42" and use my Lg o2x phone as the game controller to play gameloft games. Is this possible ? If not is there some controller app that I could pair with tablet and use that to control the games ?

you might be able to use hdmi out but i highly doubt that you could use a phone as a controller for gameloft games. the only thing i can think of is that you can buy Bluetooth controllers, but so far I've only gotten them to work on emulators (but that was with my droid x, now i have the xperia play and no longer need a Bluetooth controller )
Not from direct experience but something I thought was cool
I was experimenting with my new A500. I plugged in my usb mouse. Works great. Then I plugged in my usb floppy. What a contrast between my 32 gb pad with a 32 gb card. I couldn't even store one picture at full rez.
OK, now why I really butted in here. I got the HDMI adaptor in the mail today and found that it made my XPlane look great. Sound and graphics were great. The pad itself was the controller and the image was on both screens.
BUT
I tried a game that is portrait only and it doesn't scale for a widescreen TV. Unless I wanted to play laying down or turn the wall mounted TV on its side, there are issues with playing phone games on the big screen.
Maybe a little off topic, but maybe helpful.
On another note, I have used the google remote control app to control my Logitech Revue but it is a hardwired portrait, so it is not so great in landscape.
Hope this helps someone out there.
Some interesting info here. I was not aware of the portrait only issue.
Search on here or youtube. Somebody has a video using an android phone as a game controller playing shadowgun on a asus transformer
I just watched it. So it is possible, just need to find something with a d-pad that makes sense. The video I watched the on-screen control scheme looks nasty. I'm not sure if its possible to change that layout or not but I will look into it tonight.
Its prob just better getting a real game controller. Ps3 or hardwired xbox 360 remote since our a500s have full usb and honeycomb supports game controllers

there is an app calles droidmote (server and client) and it is supposed to do that. control an android device with another. havent tried it yet, but if someone has money to buy it, please share your experience.

Using The Galaxy Note As A Game Console! [Video]

Just a little video on the HDMI functions of the galaxy note (as a kind of game console and entertainment system)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBsqMV4Pymc
Some small issues that I found:
-Battery can in-fact go down (while on charge)
-The phone seems to slow down a little bit (not unusable, but noticeably)
-HDMI connection sometimes cuts out for a few seconds every half hour or so (might be the TV though)
And finally does anybody know a good android compatible bluetooth game controller? THAT would make this set up complete!
-Cheers
I've used the iControlPad with the BluezIME app on a GalaxyTab 7". Works very well. There are also ways to use a PS3 wireless controller with Galaxy devices, and even wiimotes if you put the CyanogenMod ROM on your device.
ICS should open up the options in this area considerably.
I didn't buy a controller, I just use my PS3 one. One of the best controllers out there for emulator games! Nice video btw.

Thanks for the reply, but how is the range on the iControl Pad like? The Rii mini keyboard that i'm using states 30m but you're lucky if you can get 2m. After this it starts cutting out connections and prolonging key-presses with jerky movements etc.

I use my PS3 controller with the 'SIXAXIS Controller' app for emulators. I use it with SNESOID and it works perfectly.

My PS3 recently died with the YLOD so I now have two spare PS3 pads, may aswel make use of one! The controllers are very well built, the battery on them lasts ages and the range is really good.

Yep, looks like i'll get a PS3 controller! Also, does anybody else have any problems with the HDMI cutting out? It's kind of strange...
Is it full HD output or just scaled to full HD?

What is the cheapest gamepad for android devices?
I thought a PS3 controller would be great, so i bought one from ebay but i realized to late that the "ps3 controller" app only works with the controllers from sony, because otherwise there are pairing problems.
Yes PS3 controller is onlty for PS3... If you want to use an other controller, use the Phonejoy
No, as often said before, you can use a PS3 Controller for your Android devices (at least for the most)...
But in fact it must be a PS3 controller from sony.
Everything you have to do is to buy "sixaxis controller" from the market, pairing your controller once (with the computer and the showed local bluetooth_adress) and connect it to your device.

driver?
hey i've bought that keyboard to for my xperia s and the driver that came with it didnt work so i useb blueinput but i cant see the mouse ,what driver do you use?
Hi guys, can anyone help me with this. I have have bought the gadgets needed to turn the note into a gaming console, but i had to buy a generic Bluetooth keyboard because i couldnt find the one specified.
My problem is that the keyboard is fine and all, its paired and works well in the native environment. I can type, i have access to quick keys such as menu or home button and back. It even has a track pad which also works. My problem is when i use it as a gamepad in emulators. For the moment i'm using the app Super GNES from google play to run the SNES games. altho i have configured it to use specific keys in the Button Mapping, everytime i start a game, the keys ive configured didnt work. its like the bluetooth keyboard isnt even connected but its connected because when i use the trackpad i can see the mouse pointer. I was thinking of getting the sixaxis controller app, but, as it turns out i need to root the phone which i am not willing to do.
So is there soemthing i'm doing wrong?
Is there another app like the sixaxis controller that will work that does not need a rooted phone?
Thanks

[Q] Hdmi INPUT? Possible to use N10 as monitor?

Just wondering if it's possible to use nexus 10 as essentially a portable hdmi monitor. I would like to Sometimes play console in lounge without taking up the TV and just wondered if it's possible to connect console to nexus basically... I already have a HDMI to mini HDMI lead... Wireless would be even better although not essential... Briefly investigated screen cast but seems like this is only designed to wirelessly stream to a TV (which already has hdmi input)
Many Thanks,
Sam.
Ps my N10 is currently not rooted although I would consider rooting if it would enable such a possibility

N10 is designed for OUTPUT only.
That said, it's resolution is high enough that it would be a cool feature, but it's OUTPUT only.
Thanks for the reply I figured that might be the case, any ideas if its possible in a virtual sense? Ie plug a transmitter into console or other hdmi output and have it transmit the signal which can be picked up in an app like YouTube (but source is generated from transmitter rather than the Web)
Thanks again

Only solution I know of right now is Onlive, but then you have to pay for the game AND a subscription.

This might be possible, depending on what you want to play.
If it's a DVD/blu ray, you can stream that on a local wifi network with VLC on a computer, and play it on MX player on your tab, just point MX to the address of the stream.

I'm after doing it without a intermediary computer, that said I'm currently looking into hdmi to composite adapter into a raspberry pi and using that to stream to network and picking it up via this mx player you mentioned...

That could be possible, but yikes! HDMI to composite is like going back light years of technology!
But yeah I've wanted to do the same in the past, to run my GameCube without a TV.
I ended up with a LCD hdtv with hdmi, component, composite and vga, so I just use that (mostly for my PS3 now).
I actually just ordered a pi last week!
I'm going to use it as a file server with a 1.5TB usb drive, and also a Wi-Fi repeater, on top of that, a torrent box (qBittorrent with http remote interface).
Gl though with the video thing!
