Is it technically possible to develop an application which would tether a laptop to the phone using WiFi in ad-hoc mode? This would be extremely useful for when Bluetooth is not an option.
Alright, so I know how to broadcast wifi with my MyTouch 3G already using Android Wifi Tether (http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/)
However, I want to be able to broadcast as an Access Point, not as an Ad-hoc network.
Is there a patch or fix or program that does this? Or some sort of other setting that will enable it.
Basically, I want to broadcast Wifi so another Phone (Or PSP or NDS) can connect to it (Because they do not see the Ad-hoc network).
I cannot find anything that does this specifically.
Thanks for the help!
What do you guys use to WIFI Tether on your none sense ROMS?
Is the Wifi Direct functional on u8800? how to test? What new capabilities does our phone get, if it works?
I have been wondering this too. Someone please respond!!!
Wi-Fi Direct is a standard that allows Wi-Fi devices to connect to each other with no need for a wireless access point.
In simple words you can transfer data(pictures, audio etc) wirelessly with high speeds and there is no need for a router!.
To test it you should have two Wi-Fi direct enabled devices(i haven't found a second one that supports this feature)
Isn't that achieved by a simple ad-hoc wifi network?
wi-fi direct is just ans ad-hoc connection.
You can create a ad-hoc connection between your laptop and phone using this feature, albeit I have never tested it before with this phone.
I really didn't get it. Is it possible to have a working wi-fi direct on u8800 with ICS ?
I am on PA. I want to know how can i connect to Adhoc wifi on my win7 laptop.
