Flashing - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Has anyone flashed over the S4 yet? I'm hoping that it's still as pretty simple as the S III.

Oh boy.....

OMG what a lot of code, I have no idea what that means. However I do know that to root your S4 it's very easy to use djembey method. Please look in this forum for his thread and thoroughly read all instructions in OP. You can't go wrong. It worked very well, first time for me no problems what's so ever.
All the best.

Nexus 4

Hello, I have the Nexus 4 I am running 4.2.2 and I'm rooted I was going to update the other day to 4.3 but it didn't work. Could this be due to a custom recovery? I am on stock android and i was unrooted at the time.
I was also wondering if there are any good root methods out there I have heard a lot of problems with rooting on 4.3?
Just would like some opinions?
Thanks guys

There's not really any problems just gotta make sure you're following instructions properly. All you need to do is obviously just unlock your device, then push recovery to it then flash root. Obviously the are more in the between steps.

I was pretty big into XDA under my Original Note
I now have AT&T S4 and would like to root it.
Is there a way to root the S4 without a PC?
I would like to use TWRP I have goo installed but it wont root my device from Goo so was just curious.
I did browse the forums really didn't find this so I am posting it
Many thanks

You need a PC to format the card, the rest you can do from Terminal Emulator: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387577
If you browsed the forums you would know that you cant install a custom recovery on an S4 running MF3 firmware. Meaning no TWRP or CWR. But you can root with the above method.
I did look so your saying no matter what cdm and twrp cannot be on s4. Thats fkd if so

Do yourself a favor and look harder. There is a lot of information available about this and you WILL brick your phone if you don't take the time to read and learn about it. Good luck.
Look man I looked I will look again. But I have only bricked my phone once back when first Google phone came out not a noob. Just didn't want to spend hours looking if it took someone 30 sec to respond. Admin please close my thread due to lack of assistance will look elsewhere thanks

[Q] How can I flash Cyanogen?

I have an S4 running 4.2.2 and it's currently rooted. But the root does not allow me to have a custom recovery. I want to be able to flash Cyanogen, but I'm not able to at the current time. What is your best idea of what I should do?

Then reread the OP and make sure you do exactly what it states.
Take your time and just make sure to follow each step.
MF3 can be rooted and de bloated but has no real custom recovery.
Safe strap only allows one on 4.3 to flash 4.2 2 roms.

I'm on 4.2.2 and I followed all the instructions very carefully, but whenever I try to load my slot with the Google edition ROM (4.2.2) the phone goes into a continuous boot loop. I have no idea what is wrong and I can't find a solution anywhere.

make sure you partition your slot big enough...try 2 and 1.5 for data...
I did this and it still didn't work. Where is the best guide on how to exactly flash a ROM? I've been following a video guide on it, but it doesn't work.

You are probably using the wrong GE ROM... Only certain ones work. Check the OP of the SS QA thread.

Pick a smaller rom to start...gpe 280 mb...make sure you flash the mf3 module zip after the rom flashes...look in deadly venom 8.2 he has all the links. .his rom is awesome too..its 1.1 gb try that too

I did the same thing. SafeRoot is basically a one click root, no terminal commands, no exfat. So much easier.
