Did you get the correct recovery for that device from the website? Seems to me you flashed one of the other recoveries.
odin would be the only solution.

[Q] Stuck with Odin Mode for Recovery

Hi guys,
A few weeks back I was trying to update the modem for my Galaxy S4 i9505, and downloaded odin via the Play Store which reset my recovery mode as well. I had clockwork installed previously but now go into odin mode whenever I try to boot to recovery. I've also tried reflashing clockwork using Odin which supposedly succeeds, but then I'm still stuck booting into odin mode for recovery when I press volume down + power. How can I get back to clockwork? I'm not able to flash roms using odin and I'm having problems with my current installation. Any help would be amazing!
Thanks!

[GT-I9505] How to restore stock ROM and recovery when having TWRP?

Hello everybody,
I got a question from someone who wants to go back to the stock Samsung ROM.
But how do i do this as TWRP replaced the stock recovery a.k.a. Odin Download Mode?
Can you simply flash the tar through Odin while being in TWRP?
Thanks!

Just load up ODIN, install through there the stock rom, it will replace twrp with stock recovery as well.
Recovery and download mode are 2 complete different things. Just boot in download mode and flash stock rom.

I actually know that they are two different modes.
The reason i'm asking this question is because most online articles refer to "Home + Vol Down" to access TWRP recovery, and this happened to be "Download Mode" before TWRP was flashed onto the device.
Unfortunately i don't have this person's device, so i can't check if this is the case (i forgot how i entered TWRP, haven't used it much)

HELP! I think I bricked my phone! Tried CWM Recovery and stuck in Odin mode!

Ok so I updated to the 5.0.1 update on my S4 yesterday and kept my root using that method with the chainfire app. Today I wanted to try flashing CWM on my S4. Upon trying on Odin 3.09, it said failed and now my S4 boots into Odin Mode and says "Firmware upgrade encountrered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Ttry again."
WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST DO?
EDIT:

Safestrap doesn't allow recovery boot for lollipop. This is because safestrap hasn't been updated for lollipop yet. Everyone's moving to lollipop someone will update it or come up with a alternative soon I'm sure.

If you want to fix the stock recovery. find the OC3 Stock Partitions file and ODIN it to your phone. If you find the one that's a zip file, you'll have to ODIN a kitkat kernel to flash that in Safestrap.

I don't understand. I've never used safestrap. I was able to flash back using odin to the nc4. Than flashed to NJ1, rooted that, then upgraded to 5.0.1 while keeping root using that flashfire method.
Now if I use flashfire, do a cache wipe that way I can access flashfire's reboot options, select boot to recovery, it will boot to recovery fine. I just can't get it to boot recovery using the volume up, power, and home buttons. It says recovery boot in blue at the top but then restarts and boots normally

Can't Handle It

Hello Guys, recently i was trying to install CMW recovery on my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 via odin and it is not working so i researched and found that i can use "FLASHIFY" from playstore to flash the recovery. I flashed it successfully but when i rebooted the phone, it only boot to recovery. Nothing else just the recovery. I can't get out there. So i tried to flash firmware from sammobile and still it doesnt work. I really need your help.

Post the Odin log here.
For twrp, flash via Odin.
Before flashing, uncheck everything except f reset time. Flash and, when you see reset in the status window, remove USB cable from the phone, remove battery, replace battery, boot into twrp using buttons.

i tried your method and decided to see if it was working properly and i followed the instruction for rooted devices in https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-boot-to-recovery/
Not only it did'nt work now my phone is just displaying the samsung galaxy s4 logo with words on the top left corner that says
recovery booting. . . .
recovery is not seandroid enforcing
set warranty bit : recovery
i just also checked the twrp manager app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager
it shows "custom recovery not installed or not detected"
How did you flash TWRP? You confirmed that the model # of the phone is sgh-i337m?
I could never get the fastboot instructions in the original post to work since all Samsung phones (non-Google Play versions) I have used did not support fastboot commands.

I downloaded the .tar file from the team win website for the samsung galaxy s4 canada and i opened odin .
switched off my phone , put it in download mode (volume down+power+ home ,pressed volume up again for confirmation)
connected to computer , odin shows added , clicked AP selected the .tar file and clicked start without making any changes in the options tab . Phone restarts
Flashing TWRP with Odin on a phone running a stock ROM will replace the stock recovery; however, if auto reboot is selected in Odin, rebooting the phone after flashing TWRP will cause the stock recovery or overwrite TWRP and this is one reason some people uncheck auto reboot.
I suggest starting over by flashing the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com with Odin 3.07.

I have just flashed my phone with stock rom from sammobile , after that i put into download mode again and did'nt select the autoreboot . when it was completed i tried going into recovery mode without switching on my phone so i removed the battery and placed it again and pressed volume up+power+home and i still got the same things that showed up before .
Did you try flashing different versions of TWRP? I suggest starting with 2.87. You can then use TWRP itself to flash newer zip versions.
