First of all, U should buy the original Game
Then flash Project Lard
Overclock your phone to 1.4 GHz, with Ondemand and the ROW I/O Schedular (Proceed with Caution)
Then Open up GTA VC and set the settings to the following:
Draw Distance: 13%
Screen Res: 59%
Visual Effects: Low
Dynamic Shadows: off
Sound: Off (IF UR SUPER DESPERATE for FPS)
This should make the Game Like Butter...

Thank you very much for your advice @Pizza_Dox ..
Although enrealidad I think the bad optimization here is Rockstar!!
As may be that games like (Return Castle Wolfstein - which is also a port) and also, Need For Speed Most Wanteed (which has a luxury graphics) and many other games more .. run smooth as butter on our game .. no need to overclock ..
And a game with so few requirements such as (Vice City for PC) prompted many requirements in android .. and need Overlockear our device to run it at least with graphics to low ..
Very true!

overclock processor to maybe 1.4ghz..
and how do u guys adjust your gpu settings..? i mean different steps..and step thresholds as well as the gpu step counts..
also what governer do u use ?
do share please

What about your games performance? You have @ low framerate?

Change your GPU voltage into 1100 mV
And use 1400 MHz instead of higher ones

lol that is quite extreme..but will give it a try..
Anyway my main concerns are some tiny stutters and lags in normal games
And some massive fps drops in demanding and open world games like gta3, gangstar rio city, backstab etc..

Well I've never had to OVERCLOCK to get more performance from my phone. The GPU is more than enough to handle whats out there and don't see the need to turn up the juice. 9/10 if the game lags its due to the kernel or the rom. 1.4ghz on the cpu and 400mhz on the gpu + are unnecessary IMO.

Yup i know..for most apps and day to day life..it runs everything fine enough..
However i do see some lags and fps drops in demanding games..please i am not talking bout the temple run-angry birds type of games..
Thats why waned to know few settings being used by users to increase some fps and use my device to maximum potential..
Also any one has any idea bout a really stable rom-kernel combo that performs really good with 3d games..? I have heard the roms like CM9/RR etc give bad 3d performance(even though they are quite faster!!)
thanks
Not sure what to tell.. but many people know that Galaxy S II with CM10 (currently using 21. september nightly) uses around 35% in idle of CPU power.. just 5 apps installed.. same with HW composing disabled. and same with force 2D GPU rendering checked
While. samsung one rom does use in idle around 3-12% of CPU usage with force gpu 2D rendering checked
Games are smoother on samsung than on cyanogen (both are running siyah kernel 4.1.5 with oc at 1.6 + GPU 400 + touch boost to 400 (step4)
example games: GTA III, Gangstar Rio
Why?
Not sure what is bottleneck... if fsync (really don't messed with it)
or memory bandwith,I/O,GPU, or cpu
during Gangstar RIO..
cpu runs with both cores around 65% and game lags during driving..
GPU can't tell.. as MaliStats reports bad value (400MHz 1100mV 100,1% ) all the time
Any known fix for these lags and cpu usage?
Gangstar rio is less laggy when HW composing disabled..
Because the HWcomposer isn't working correctly in CM10 so you have lags in games.
CPU takes all the load in 3D games on CM10.
BTW this question should be in CM10 thread.
HW composer still doesn't work? it is much smoother than it was before 3 weeks
now animations are smooth while before.. they were laggy as hell

This don't mean nothing, simply they work to optimize in a better way their rom.

ERROR! You are testing both roms with a "custom kernel"(siyah).
Ask in Siyah thread.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
HWComposer is not working fully, CPU is doing all the graphics works. You see smoothness due to other improvements and the Dual core CPU that's inside.
UC to 200Mhz and try scrolling, you'll see lags which you won't see if HWComposer is working correctly.
Hw composer is an issue, but sensor polling is another one, never resolved in cm builds, coming from cm7 days.
I tried contacting several developers, but none seemed to see or wanted to work on the problem.
While idling, sensors use +- 10% cpu on any CM based rom (at 200mhz), while on Samsung based the usage is +- 2% idling while screen is on, same conditions. Android system process is to blame, and inside the process sensors threads are the ones sucking cpu. Disabling sensors (autororate, light, gps) did not help to reduce the problem in my case. Using different kernels did not help either...
Had to live with the issue at this point...

Yes.. that sensor polling really uses a lot of power.. mainly compass one!

Hello, my name is Felipe ('m brazilian my english can be bad) and I was wondering how to have high performance in games one example is GTA Vice City
in my L3 it is very slow, hangs and reboots my phone yet!
I use the Fusion Xperia rom 1.2 no swap usage, usage 1.0 Ghz overclock
then how could have a performance coming to Xperia Mini Pro?
Make it faster with this(Seeder)
If rooted download Seeder its not free u have to pay for it.(or just crack it "illegal" )
And when u install it ,open it, and select the switch button right to "Seeder lag reducion" text. Grant SuperUser privileges. And it should make less lag. Hit thanks if helps u.

dude, you have single core and old gpu, you won't have a better performance, get a better phone if you want that.
gltools
i suggest u to use gltool!!!
i play pretty smoothly fifa 14 on cyanoid 15(which for me is not very stable and i dont know why )
i also played asphalt 8 but not very playable
i also tried gta san andreas and without gltools when i died it chrashed instead of when i use gltools with which i played it very well
it's compatible with both 4.0.4 and 2.3.6
can u show me how to use gtool, it's diffficult to use. i consider upgrading to cyanoid #15. cyanoid runs game smoothly or not?
it's not difficult

it's not difficult to use it...if you are already rooted you have to install apk and the install the drivers with the app(check the Others 2 options), give him superuser permission and then it will reboot
after that u have to select the game from the menù of the app once u opened it and then you have to select disable on anisotropic, in some games also 16bit trasparency cuold help but it make some games crash, select also optimize glsl and then on the texture section select texture scale and set it to 0.5 or 0.25(it will make some texture of menu of the game bad) and if you want more performance you can downscale it more and more or even go to resolution rendering and select 0.5(0.25 displays the game very bad and even 0.5 doesnt make it good but if you wanna reduce the res on a low res phone the result cant be different)
hope i helped you
After some research, I noticed that the current Governor/Scheduler are more efficient in optimizing battery life when our phone is in idle mode. While playing games, they tend to use the maximum performance available, thus draining the battery quickly.
To fix this, I started testing some games and emulators in order to meet the minimum clock needed to run each application. For example, Bruce Lee, great 3D game that accompanies the Xperia Play, is able to run perfectly with just 400MHz. FIFA 12; 500MHZ. Thus, you can easily multiply your playing time, leveraging much more your Xplay.
Below, gradually, i will provide a list of applications and their requirements for clock, based on the information that is being provided by the community and by me.
Angry birds - 200MHZ - 300MHZ
Need for Speed Most Wanted - 300MHZ
NES.emu(NES EMULATOR) - 300MHZ
Neo.emu(NEOGEO EMULATOR) - 300MHZ
SuperGNes(SNES EMULATOR) - 300MHZ
Bruce Lee - 400MHZ
Sonic Episodes I & II - 400MHZ
FIFA 12 - 500MHZ
GTA VICE CITY - 500MHZ
Modern Combat 4 - 700MHZ
now provide me a clock tool that has automatically switching clock profiles on app-basis.
e.g.
-i'm on the "desktop" then its profile is set -> 400mhz
-i'm running snes emu so its profile is used untill im back on the desktop -> 300mhz
^^
Freq
Heres some:
Modern Combat 4 = 700mhz - No lag for me on my rom, (W/ Wifi)
Angry birds - 200 mhz
Need for Speed most wanted - 300mhz
Some more:
GTA 3:
400mhz
U can try tasker,I use this for 3 years now

You can use SetCPU, it have option for profiles.
There's an app called PerApp on F-Droid, it s for free.
There xyou can set settings on perapp basis, it has also the cpu clock fubction.
can u test heroes of order and chaos? i always use 1.4ghz lol
you sure about 300Mhz for NFSMW ? it makes races slow-motioned and doubles loading time for me , I think 700Mhz is the minimum

Please, after reading my post, don't blame me or suggest things like "mobile devices aren't meant to play or aren't meant to replace pc", I'm not looking for surrender, I'm looking for advices or proposals.
Several times I've noticed Thermal Throttling (from now TT ) effects on our device, because during high-resource-demanding apps, for example Real Racing 3 (but everyone can have his own high-resource-demanding app example), TT decreases cpu frequencies (maybe gpu too?) when it reaches a certain temperature, causing framerate drop. With cool-phone RR3 has superb framerate, but when phone becomes hot (after 6-7 minutes), there's a noticeable framerate drop caused by TT. You can notice this just by watching at asphalt flow under the car or how trees move in the environment.
This is normal, TT is normal and good beacuse it prevents high-temp damage, "but" I think that LG (or qualcomm or android) has implemented this function in a wrong way, not optimal. If this effect is so significant, it means that cpu frequencies cut is too much! I think it cuts in "half" cpu frequency, but it's a very conservative behaviuor, it's too much! If we consider another device, for example 4-cores clocked at 1,2 GHz, this device won't have 50 fps as G2 (in first minutes), maybe it will have 40 fps all the time, but it won't throttle down; G2 instead will throttle down and framerate will drop to 25 fps, which is not optimal, until it will cool (when stop playing, because it won't cool during playing). If these two devices were two cars, slower car would be the fastest because it will be constant and have best lap times.
First of all, there's a "normal" hardware problem that involves cooling and this problem can't be faced. But it's a software problem too, in the way TT is tuned; TT setting is what we shall deal with.
How can we achive this? There are several ideas:
1) Reading through forums I read about two possibile secret menu settings (3845#*802# ... 802 is phone model):
a) Thermal mitigation daemon off: this value should affect screen light dimming to lower temp, but it's not something that can slow down fps;
I tried it but my phone rebooted after 5 minutes playing and went into bootloop...
b) High temperature priority off: this value should affect TT temperature start treshold, for example increasing it from 60°C to 70°C, that is still a safe (internal) temp; I noticed a decreased TT effect, but it doesn't disappear. It simply happens after more time (for example after 10 minutes instead of 5). It's not a ultimate solution;
2a) Lowering max cpu freq to a value that prevents reaching TT treshold; but it depends also on environment temp, we should make too much tries; can someone say what max cpu freq to set? Obviously not to low... if 1.8 GHz it's good, if 1.4 GHz it will be better sell G2 and buy a less hardware performant nexus 4, but in real life better in performance than G2 because N4 can be less affected by TT;
2b) Lowering voltages, same as 2a), it's very difficult and we won't be sure to solve the problem;
3) There are several system files ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472318&page=43 ) that can be involved in TT tuning... Very difficult to achieve...
4) If TT can be tuned by kernel, a custom kernel with better TT tuning... hoping in a dev. (I think this would be the best solution).
What do you think about?

You have to test. But almost all custom kernels are pretty much tweakable to your loving. Anyway depends on which device and Android version you are. Check carefully that you are not with a brick in the end.

I tried 2 kernels:
1) Dorimanx 4.4: too much options to set... with default installation G2 is slower in antutu and in gaming...
2) Simple Kernel V5 (No Oc version): wonderful with default installation, phone becomes a little bit hotter than custom kernel, but no TT! Very Good! Also, I can revert "High Temperature Priority OFF" to its default setting (OFF): phone becomes slightly cooler and TT becomes barely noticeable. TT can be still considered solved, with temperature and battery benefits.
