How to disable Camera shot sound - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm new at android phone
I want to disable the camera shot sound, I couldn't find way to do this.
Galaxy S4 I9500
Thanks to all helpers,
Roy.

You must root your S4 and rename the file /system/media/audio/ui/Shutter.ogg
and for the auto-focus, the file /system/media/audio/ui/Auto-focus.ogg

Ok, thanks.
There is a root available for GS4 I9500?

i have also renamed camera_click.ogg, camera_focus.ogg and VideoRecord.ogg, thought they sound also like they would trigger while using the camera app.

I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to disable the camera shutter sound when the phone is not on silent
Thanks

I can't seem to find the option to switch off the camera shutter sound too
The camera setting don't seem to be permanently set all the time, for eg. when I switch on auto contrast, it went back to "off" again when I use the camera for the second time.

Shutter sound can't be disabled by default. If you are rooted, you can rename the ogg file and it won't play.
File is in /system/media/audio/ui
It seems the SGS2 has gone backwards as even with SGS1, the camera sound can be turned off in the settings menu.
Don't take this as absolute truth, but I'm pretty sure it's the law in some countries that you're not able to turn off the camera-shutter sound.
"Blade buddy" allows you to turn it off. It's free on the market.

This is true in a number of locations.
I've managed to stop the shutter sound and the video recording start/stop sounds by renaming all the camera-related ogg files in the /system/media/audio/ui folder, but I can't seem to find the ogg file for the camera 'autofocus' sound.
Does anyone know which file this is?

The focus sounds are stored inside the camera app itself and because of that a little harder to get rid of. Because it is app-related you could use another camera app and not have the problem... or you can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074628

Root explorer (or other proper apps) should ask for root permission, allow that. After that you'll need to mount the system partition with write access. Root Explorer has a little button at the top for this, no experience with other apps.

[Q]How to change the camera shutter sound?
no need for me to open a new topic, since i got a similar question, how can we change that horrible camera shutter sound?
the default sound from the sgs1 is what I'm looking for, i found out that this specific sound is played by the system in sgs2 when you take a screenshot (by pressing Home + Power buttons), but i can't figure out where to find it and how can i set it as the default shutter sound for the camera app
so, i don't want to disable the sound, i already found some topics explain that, i just want to replace it
any help is appreciated

OK found it, but how can i replace the files with an silent one.
I cannot cut or rename those original .ogg files, probably because it is situated in the apk file.
what to do?
also the solution for 'maranello69': copy the beloved shutter1.ogg file from the sgs and just replace it in your sgs2.
Just put the phone in vibrating mode and the sound is gone

The 2.3.4 update also does this (its the first one I've bothered updating my SGSII for). I'll just set Tasker to set silent on when the camera is on, and revert when the camera app closes, job done.

What camera effects do you mean? The different shooting modes? All you have to do from you camera is hit the settings symbol to the side then click on settings symbol again then click on the settings symbol scroll down and turn flash on. Now you can leave it on auto or just leave it on.

Happy to help...and yeah hope they fix it
You can take pics with the filters on (though I never noticed much of a difference) and flash. The way I get around the no flash limitation is to manually turn on flash then set filter in the camera app. In your widgets tab, there is a widget marked "Assistive Light", which basically makes your LED flash act as a torch. I do need my torch from time to time so I actually have the widget itself sitting on my homescreen and with a press of a button, I turn on the torch then enter the camera app to do w/e I need to do.

Any way of remove camera sound? (No Root)

It's simply annoying. Would like so much to disable the camera sound without having to set to vibrate ou mute before taking pictures.

Not with out rooting that I have found.
I didn't know turning the volume down would kill it. Cant figure out which fo the 4 it is. Seems like they all have to be completely off to be silent.
BUT you should be able to use something like Llama to set when camera is active turn to silent and when camera is off put back to normal volume.
I tried this real quick and it gets in a loop. Haven't trouble shoot it yet. But it does work in manual test mode. Problem has to do with what the app is called when viewing to take a pic vs actual taking a pic vs showing the pic after.

Actually, both vibration and mote modes are sufficient to silent that annoying camera shooting sound.
That's the workaround I'm using...
Just install this apk, it doesn't require root:

[Q] Turn off camera shutter

Hey guys.
I'm having a slightly annoying issue.. Namely the camera shutter.
I can't turn the shutter noise! And I'm not even using the original camera app. If I do there's not even an option for it. In MX Camera, there is an option to turn off the shutter sound, but it doesn't work. I'm guessing this is LG's fault.
It is not illegal in my area to mute the camera.
Anyone know how I can do this?
This doesn't work?

Right, I have a LG G2 on Wind Mobile.
Hardware: LG-D801
Software Ver.: D801V11b
Tried several 3rd party camera apps such as Camera MX / Line Camera without success.
Setting to Silent/Vibrate and manually toggling the volumes within the stock system was unsuccessful.
Tried Glen's Camera Mute and was unsuccessful even with toggling Enable/Disable and with a tester version with built-in volume adjustment.
I think rooting may be the only solution, but I'm new to this game so I'm still trying to figure out how to root and how I'm supposed to make the camera silent after rooting.

AOSP Means Android Open Source Project. It's the basic Android that is launched on for example Nexus phones, without a new UI from say, Samsung or HTC.
It is not something you are going to install simply to get rid of the shutter noise, however I (And many others) greatly prefer these versions of ROMs over the bloated ones from the phone companies.

WIND Mobile D801 here. Can confirm that the Camera mute app doesn't work, silent mode doesn't work, no option for disabling shutter sound from in the app, and renaming the file with ROOT does nothing.
The audio must be within the camera app somewhere, but I can't figure it out. Please help! So frustrating.

When you put your phone in silent mode it also turns of camera shutter sound. If you are afraid that deleting the sound file might botch up the camera then simply move or rename the file instead of deleting it and reboot.

For some reason I assumed you were on AOSP. Since you're running touch wiz here's the solution: in Q&A or Themes & Apps (shyt or general or android development lol) there's a guide on how to mod your camera app and one of the mods it teaches you to do is enabling the shutter sound menu. So basically browse, search, search and search some more. And then read read read some more
