thx for quick reply. .I will try it..

You can also download the su binary and flash it with CWM Recovery as well. Superuser would not let me update before but flashing the zip worked great.

flash with cwm or twrp
I'll recomend you to use a custom recovery which is CWM and you flash that file. In order to be root.

I've never done a backup myself but that's bad practice I know.
If SuperSu does not ask you for root privileges, then there might be some issues with your root. Have you tried to install the latest update? I had the same issue right after root, the default SuperSu app did not work so what I did was flashing the latest SuperSu app via Recovery and it worked.
Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
I just flash 4.4.2 INU, just backup yr msg & call logs, the installation process automatically backup & restore apps
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Always make a backup before doing anything to your system. You never know what might go wrong. You can backup using nandroid or your custom recovery.
Regarding you SuperSU issue, make sure you answer "No" when your custom recovery asks you fix root (unless specified by the rooting procedure - philz touch recovery when rooting Russian firmware i9500 4.4.2).
Moreover, you can download an app to check if you lost your root privileges. If you did lose it, root your system again.

you can use titanium backup but that needs root. uninstall Super SU and install it from the play store. The app will detect if its activity is hindered by KNOX.

First, make sure that your are, indeed, rooted. Uninstall Super SU in Applications Manager in your Settings. Install again from play store.
..
download a root checker app to check if you are rooted. try downloading Super SU from play store anyway. See what happens.

ohhh right. reinstall your recovery and reroot your phone. When I was on 4.3, I used CWM 6.0.4.5.

I read you first post again and you stated that you can grant root privileges to apps (always grant). Install Titanium Backup and backup your apps and flash 4.4.2. What's the problem here?

Yes. Flashed it with ODIN. No problems whatsoever. ALTHOUGH... some users are complaining about sd card permissions.

Okay well, I have a GS4 GT-I 9500 on android 4.2.2 KitKat.
I updated it from 4.3 to this version when I was in Russia.
And lately, I heard of rooting and stuff so I'm a total newbie!
So, I jumped for some tutorials on the web and I learned about Pc Odin, chainfire root, and CWM recovery.
I used first a method wich involved using odin to push the CF auto-root with PDA into the phone while on download mode. I got only 'reset' but no 'pass' would show. And no supersu icon will appear in my app drawer. After lots of tires and multiple Odin version changes I succeeded in having 'pass', but nope, "no proper root access"(via root checker).
So then I used Odin to put CWM recovery in the phone and enter it to "install zip from sd card" and installed the CF auto-root . zip. Lines start to flow and ends with a "Done". Then I go back to reboot and it says something like do you want to fix root located in... before root? I tried "yes - fix root" and "no - just reboot" And both didn't fix it for me.
Finally, I tried motochopper.zip that have some files wich needed developer mode to be enabled and USB debugging. I only had to hit enter in run.bat and it starts the rooting process. But immediately says failure and gives an error like "failure supersu already available"...
I would really appreciate any help. I need my device rooted soon, please. Thanks in advance.
P.S: While on download mode, it shows that my phone status is modified. I won't mind having to force a factory reset if it'll fix something.
Thanks a lot!
I wonder if my post is visible to others, I really need my phone rooted

there is an app called framaroot, available by searching xda or google, usually works for rooting samsung phones.
there is also a pc app called Vroot that works almost like magic, every device i plug in is rooted within 2 minutes, even without drivers!
Nope...

Framaroot doesn't support the GT-i9500 model. I also tried Vroot and it didn't work. I'm really sure it's something from the phone...

If you have Clockwork Mod Recovery on your phone now, find a Superuse.zip install package and flash that in recovery. It will work like a charm.

download & flash touch philz Recovery via Odin
then go to recovery and select re-root system > > yes apply ( Supersu )
Then download supersu from google play and he will ask you how do you want to update binary ,just click normal

for some reason as of now on verizon note 3 there seems to be no fix for the supersu not updating binary on the new kitkat 4.4.2 im rooted using Towelroot i let it update the binary once and i never opened it again to avoid it asking me to update again then failing ... so to avoid uninstall and reinstall i just let it do its magic once and never touch it again... it will update the first run but once you reboot .. youre f you also want to make sure you delete the file su in system/xbin/su then uninstall and install fresh to get this to update you binary .. but you can never open it again or it will ask to update and fail ... however all apps asking to grant permisson will be granted so apon screen pop up and your prompt to allow ....
Is there any update or possible way to obtain update of binary successfully without having to worry about being asked to update again once you reopen SuperSu ..
if you have safe strap installed, you can download the Su zip file and flash in recovery. you can find it in the Android thread, just use the search. I have done it this way and works like a charm.

yes i read about that earlier where you have to use the stock slot to use a rom besides the slot you use for the backup .. so this Su youre talking about fixes those issues .... can you tell me to find it because ive searched Google already and keep coming up empty for that file ... more over looking into roms im seeing ill have to flash a stock rom that will install bootlaoders that i will need before flashing any custom roms ..is this about right ? thanking you in advance @phillymade
for Flashing custom Rom follow this OP, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627 and you can flash a custom Rom in place of the stock rooted. as for the Su, are you looking for the super user zip or the updated safe strap. I'm a bit confused by the post as to what you are asking

when you told me about flashing it ., i said let me check the Su since i had previously installed it before safestrap but some how installing safestrap fixed my issue of Su asking to update binary and failing apon reboot so now i just want to basically update safestrap and install a romm thats stable with almost no flaws
Hi everybody,
I have installed the A3000_A422_011_022_140127_WW_CALL_FUSE, then updated to A422_013_025_140624_WW_CALL_FUSE via OTA.
Before updating, I rooted my tab using Framaroot (Install SuperSU --> Boromir), but now I am unable to root it. I tried all 3 methods in Framaroot (Boromir, Faramir and Barahir), eveytime il said "succes,..." but after rebooting, SU is not installed and Root Checker says "no root access...".
Is there another method for rooting A3000-H?
up
No one already rooted his A3000 under the last firmwaire? :'(
too easy
1) Install CWM via Flash tool
2) Flash supersu.zip via CWM
Profit!
P.S. You can root any firmware on any device this way.
see this thread. I have already installed the above rom and installed root and cwm with this

Yeah. I did with that only. But you strictly follow the tutorial and dont press any other option except as given. Sometimes you may get virus warning for this. so it is better to disable your anti virus for sometime.
sorry if I am asking dumb questions :cyclops:, but do installing a (custom) recovery will have an impact on personal data (apps, data,...)?
