[Q] Can't connect to AllShare Cast Dongle - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've received my new AllShare Cast Dongle from Amazon, and I can't do Screen Mirroring to it using my S4 i9505.
Everytime I try to connect to the dongle, after a minute "connecting" it says Error, can't connect.
My phone is rooted with omega 3.0. However I ran the triangle away apk and my system is in Official Status, so it shouldn't be a problem
Anyone having issues with allshare?
Thanks!

Normally All share cast works only on stock unrooted Rom. Once go back to stock rom & check if its working or not. Else u may have got a defective piece.

Installing a stock rom works... However I'm not sure if it's fully needed to loose root and custom recovery. I'll try to install both step by step checking what is the one that make it doesn't work.

Hope this helps.
Hey I figured this out on the T-mobile variant M919. Install a stock kernel for your device. Completely stock kernel. Not a modified stock kernel. I'm able to run my custom rom and a custom recovery and still have screen mirroring working. If you flash a stock kernel and it still doesn't work install triangle away from the play store to reset your flash counter..Hope this helps

[Q] Root S4 unable to use Screen Mirror or Allshare?

Hi All,
I am new to the andriod camp. I have recently rooted my Snapdragon S4
Root works as i used titanium backup to backup some apps.
I did a search and understand there were problems with allshare on rooted andriod phones in the pass.
There was a solution posted but was quite a while back
I purchased Triangle away 2.90
It seems to run fine on the S4 but shows my counter as 0 and Binary is stated as official.
I am not sure if this is correct although i did read that the latest version does play well with S4
Now onto my issue
I have a Samsung Smart TV (no dongle), both phone and TV connects to same wifi network
I tried the following
1) On S4, screen mirror, unable to detect any device
2) I used the allshare app on my TV, it cant detect my phone either
Sadly i was too excited to root it before trying so i am not sure if its root causing an issue or something else.
Anyone has experience with root and allshare / screen mirror?

before i rooted my S4 the Scren Mirroring worked great using my Samsung Dongle. Then after i rooted my device the Screen Mirroring would no longer work. I tried every single fix i could think of. i flashed every root supported kernel, every different recovery including the stock recovery and nothing helped. I found out that Screen Mirroring will only work for me with the exact, untouched, stock kernel, and stock recovery. Plus custom recoveries dont seem to work with the stock kernel. So because i needed the Screen Mirroring and i wanted the ability to use the hotspot too,if needed. Heres what i did. I completely wiped my phone. Then i odined back my device back to completely stock, did the software update and setup my S4 how i prefer. After going back to stock rom, unrooted, screen mirroring worked great again on my Sprint S4 with my Samsung dongle, but i also still wanted the hotspot use. So i put my "stock" S4 in download mode, then opened Odin and its very important to uncheck the auto-reboot. Then in Odin, uncheck reboot!, flash a custom reovery, then power off or pull battery. Then immediately boot into recovery. I found this way is a surefire way to boot into recovery;with power off, press volume up and then press power button and hold both until u see the blue recovery mode in the upper corner. As soon as u see the blue recovery let go of both buttons immediately and it will boot into whatever custom recovery u just flashed using odin. Then wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache,go to apply/flash zip,its the odex hotspotmodMDL.zip found in xda. Then reboot and the stock kernel will erase the custom recovery, but the hotspot mod still works and so does the screen mirroring. Plus my brothers "totally stock" Sprint S4's screen mirroring works great using my samsung dongle and his friends samsung 60" LED tv. I hope someone finds this useful. I know its not near as good as root access, but until they develope a kernel that will work with both root and screen mirroring i guess ill stick with this for now. Also how come no support in recovery for 64GB C10 sdcard, sandisk brand ? Thanks everyone at xda for teaching me most of what i know.
Verizon Galaxy S4 Rooted Allshare Cast Dongle/ Screen Mirroring,
Since I have been rooted, I have been unable to connect to my Allshare Cast Dongle. I performed the Loki method through Odin and used a stock Odexed Rom. I Tried to connect to Allshare and the end result was Error Message: Connection has ended. When I flashed back to stock, all was normal. Since then, I installed Hyperdrive RLS4 and Allshare works right out of the box. However, you will have a Custom Logo upon boot up. I used Triangle away to remove the logo successfully, but it broke Screen Mirroring. After another flash of the rom all was well, until I flashed Rom Manager; Allshare was broken again. Since avoiding the two issues I had on Hyperdrive's RLS4: Triangle Away and installing Clockwork Touch , I can say that Allshare works really well and is stable. Netflix and HBO GO are working flawlessly!

I would like to know as well as the procedure to do this.
I have rooted stock and the dongle works fine. Sometimes have to reset the dongle and try a couple of times first time out after an update but as long as I keep stock kernel it always works. Had same experience with S3. (mf5 9505)
Same here
I have a Samsung Smart TV and Galaxy S4 as well rooted. My Fiance has an S4 as well and screen mirroring works just fine. Only thing that I can do is use WiFi-Direct to stream video to my TV which is a workaround that works for me.
Samsung Galaxy S4 i337
After reading through the posts, I am getting that the screen mirroring does not work with rooting. I have my i337 rooted and my friend has his i357 not rooted. He can connect to the TV no problem. He can see that I am connected on his phone and can choose to connect to me or the TV; however, my phone does not acknowledge either. When he sends me a picture, his phone says it failed and mine doesn't show anything. I do get the notification that I am connected to him but it does not show up in my list as available. Is this fixable or only through unrooting?
I root my device and install 4.2.2. german update, then install Audism kernel V4, i can't get screen mirroring to work on a Samsung 2013 smart tv. The devices establish connection but a few seconds, on the TV shows charging, and the phone disconnects. then i flash JanJan's and Jamal's 4.2.2 Google Edition roms and after screen mirroring connection is established, i got message "ShareShotService" stopped.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

The same problem... Screen mirroring doesn't work. I'm on a S4 with Wanamlite, root and custom kernel. When I try to connect to my dongle, the connection is stopped after 2 or 3 seconds...
And, I don't want to un—root my phone...

Edit: After getting an AllShare Cast, this doesn't work, SysScope isn't used at all.
As far as I know AllShare Cast checks with SysScope to see if the device is modified.
Here's a possible fix, please tell me if it works as I'm looking for an AllShare Cast dongle and I'm rooted.
Install the Xposed Framework. It doesn't conflict with anything.
Install Xposed SysScope Blaster (not my tweak) from http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/Android/Xposed/XposedSysscopeBlaster.apk
Activate the tweak in Xposed Installer.
Go to Settings > More > Application Manager and find SysScope, tap it and clear its data.
Reboot and see if Settings > More > About device > Status > Device Status says Official.
If it does, try using AllShare Cast again.
If it doesn't you messed up one of the steps above. Try again.

hi,
have you tried to select "Select modified workaroud" (flagged) and "periodic system modified reset" (flagged) and then "reset flash counter" ?
samsung devices sould doesn't recognize custom kernel if super Su start AFTER boot...
:good:
Using Omega V9, works fine with the About status as "Custom".
Just hit the pair button on Allshare Cast Hub, and turned on mirroring... Detected, paired and worked...
Help me i got this thing and it not coneecting
on my sg4 tell me unable to connect cause of hardware issues and on my note 2 after connecting its said connection end
So I just imported an AllShare Cast Hub. No dice.
The reason seems to be HDCP2 failing to initialize, I'm guessing Samsung added some code to make that fail.
I was thinking of doing something about it with Xposed, but that part of mirroring is in native C++ code, libWFD_ENGINE.so to be exact.
Has anyone actually gotten it working on a 9500 after rooting it? I restored stock kernel/recovery and it still doesn't work.

Screen Mirroring on Stock Rooted

Hi all,
Before i start I start just let me say that i did use the search function but couldn't find anything. I am currently on rooted stock mf9 but cannot get screen mirroring to work on my mirracast device. I just get an HDCP error every time. Is there a way to get this working on a stock rooted either MF9 or MJA?

WiFi won't work on rooted 4.4.2 stock rom

As the header states, after rooting 4.3 and installing safestrap recovery, I decided to flash pre rooted 4.4.2, since I didn't want to loose camera features when going with GPE based roms. Well, my WiFi stops working after a few days, and won't start unless I do factory reset.
On top of that bluetooth, when connected to a speaker or a car audio skips transmission a few seconds at a time notoriously. Any thoughts/ideas?

[Q] Advice Please - Mobile Odin - Could not detect device model - USB not recognizing

Hi all, hoping to get some advice in regards to a brick wall I've hit.
So background, my Galaxy S4 (i9505 running 4.2.2) has had ongoing USB recognition issues and thus I haven't been able to upgrade to a custom rom for a while. After following a couple of very detailed and useful guides on here, without success I had decided that it was likely one of two things:
A hardware problem (I have a third party charging port installed after the OEM stopped working)
Or when I was playing around with settings I derped and uninstalled the MTP application or some related core service.
So I left it for a while but today I decided to do something about it and discovered Mobile Odin (4.20), bought it and clean flashed SlimKat 4.4.4 (http%www%slimroms%net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/1182-jflte). Took a while but the rom booted, really liked the look and I tried to install 3rd party apps and set up phone as usual but noticed that Google Play Store was missing. Manually installed V4.9 but it kept opening and closing so I uninstalled and the flashed the normal gapps and the AIO gapps through Mobile Odin (with and without clear cache), both processed OK but upon reboot none of apps ever installed.
So I decided to re-flash the SlimKat, I had to re download as I performed a factory restore in amongst things and had the original rom stored on internal. When I flashed inject root was checked as were all the other default options but upon reboot Mobile Odin is giving me "Could not detect device model" which after looking around basically means I lost root .
So my questions are: Without connecting via USB (because it's still not working) what are my options for flashing another rom or regaining root? Is there a way to get to stock 4.4.4 without USB?
Really appreciate any advice, currently the phone has network service and WiFi so in the mean time, without Google Play store it is just a significant inconvenience, but still operational.
Regards,
Marc

I don't know how but my root has been restored while I was playing around clearing app cache's etc. So now I have SlimKat 4.4.4 but unfortunately still no Google services/Store etc. When I manually install it, it has this issue where it automatically opens and then closes, so still working on fixing that. Again appreciate any input.
Hello, I've been flashing ROMs for a while now and I can't think of a way to regain root from within the ROM itself. How did you get root on your device in the first place to install mobile odin?
I have never used a play store application for any type of flashing, was never sure if it would be reliable or not. That being said, have you installed a custom recovery into your phone whilst you were playing around with it? If you did then you can fix this without fixing your USB connection.
However if you still have stock recovery, you probably need a USB connection to regain root. If that is the case, what have you actually tried to fix the USB problem?

Hey @lichking21st. Mobile Odin is allegedly just odin without the need for USB. I have tried to fix the USB to no avail

Problems solved!
Clean flashed stock rom then clean flashed back to SlimKat. Google play and root carried over.
USB still not working have to put it down to a hardware issue now. Oh well, so happy
@MOD you can close this. Thanks again for the help LichKing

Glad to see your problem is fixed, I would still advise you to get a custom recovery so you have some options if you really get stuck without root for next time. I recommend using TWRP but CWM works too.

Screen Mirroring with Root and Custom ROMs, is it possible?

Hello long time lurker here,
I have recently embarked on a mission to turn my "old" Sprint S5 into the ultimate home media center/Set-Box, I purchased the correct MHL Adapter, hooked it all up, it worked just fine other(than the resolution) and was working through the process when I realized the stock ROM and lack of Root was not going to cut it for this mission, So I upgraded to the MOAR Rom and the latest TWRP Recovery, Couldn't get Screen Mirroring to work on it, the error I got was "Unable to enable Screen Mirroring. Disconnect the HDMI cable and try again." I tried the build.prop modifications fix that are suggested here to no avail, tried cloaking my root, attempted the WFD XML tweak that failed too, still nothing. So I figured it was the Ktoonz kernel I was using, flashed back to the stock kernel repeated process which was again a failure, I moved through several other ROMS trying the same things( MetalRom, Omega, One I forgot) the result's all the same, I currently switched to XtreStoLite v2.2 (Kernel 3.40, Android 5.0) figuring getting it as close to stock would be my best bet, with all screen mirroring addons enabled and I get the same problem, So now that you know my story I am hoping someone can save me from mission-not-so-impossible I want to find a way to get Screen Mirroring working without reverting back to the stock derooted&bloated ROM if possible and if not what is the best stock firmware for my media center plan?
I must have missed some kind of solution, are there any ROMS that screen mirroring actually works on right now? The ones that say they do havent worked for me, it would be awesome if we could conquer this! Also, I have the G900P I believe but since I won't be using any of the sprint network I don't think that will matters if I keep too snapdragon ROMs. The MHL adapter defintley works as it worked when I was stock and it has worked with other devices, I have also tried 4 different TVs of different brands, Sorry for the ramble it is my first post!
