[Q]captive buttons with video and txt notification - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Is there a setting to make the lights in the menu and return buttons off while watching videos like Netflix and you tube?
Also is there a txt app that will read out the txt in the notification bar like the face book app does?
My vivid did that and I sure miss it on the one in this phone it just says new message.

The capacitive buttons have a few options in the display settings.
Settings > My Device > Display > Touch Key Light Duration.
The default should be to light up for 6 seconds then turn off. You can change it to 1.5 seconds, always on, or always off.
As far as the text messages, there is a setting in the messaging app. Don't know why they default it to off.
Messaging > Settings > Notification Settings > Preview Message.

Found em thank you sir.

[Q] Notification Issue

Hey I am new to these forums and the CM7 ROM for the shift. I put it on last night and I am having some trouble with the notification settings. On the stock sense ROM I was able to set my notifications to vibrate when I got one, mainly a text message. On the CM7 ROM for notifications I can only put it to "no noise" at all or a ringtone, like a beep. I would like to have a vibrate option but I cannot seem to find one. I appreciate all the help. Let me know if you need any more information, thanks.
try this: go into settings then sound setting, then under general tap on vibrate and set it to always..
or u can open up ur messages then hit menu and then settings the scroll down to notifications make sure notifications are checked then go to notification settings and tap vibrate and set it to always

That worked! Thank you, I didnt even think about going about it that way.
I had this problem too...
Go to Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget
Now check "Notification Power Widget" and then go into widget buttons.
Pick whatever tickles your fancy, but make sure toggle sound is on. You can also change the types of sound in the bottom "Sound Modes" Category and you caan change the order if you hit "Back" then "Widget Button Order".
Now reboot your device and when it turns back on, slide down the notification bar and at the top there should be a toggle which looks like Vibrate/Sound/Silent and that's how you change the sound!
I am also having this issue. i have no vibrate on any text messaging or even gmail .
I have the newest cm7, have tried turning vibrate on where ever i could. Wiped and re flashed but have the same problem .
phone will only vibrate on call and when i change from silent to vibrate.

Where can I see the default settings?

Hello,
Where can I see the default settings of my phone? And where to see the defaults of pull down bar (swipe down from top and the buttons to on/off items will appear)?
I mean I wish to see what are the defaults, is there a list somewhere?
I am using Samsung Galaxy S4.
For example defaults:
My device>Display>Auto-rotate screen is ticked.
My device>LED indicator>Charging is ticked.
Pull down bar (swipe down from top), Sync is selected.
The problem is a kid played with my phone for a few hours, and I did not know what settings he changed. I am not sure what are the defaults too, some settings might have been turn off/on by him.
Thanks

Change the breathing notifications timeout

Hey Guys,
I've been searching the web for the following. I like the breathing notification / Active display option from the Nexus 6p. When I receive a message, the black and white screen comes on, displays the notification, I read the message and most of the time when i want to react (when the phone is flat on the table) i'm too late to activate the display, the message is gone already. The time the message is displayed is about 3 to 4 seconds. I wish this could be changed to 6 to 8 seconds so I have more time to read and then touch the screen to go to Whatsapp / Mail / etc.
It's not a big problem, but it's a nice feature that irritates most of the time because of the short timeout.
There is no setting to change the timeout in settings but there must be a file (such as build.prop, couldn't find it there) where you can change this timeout. Does anyone know if this is possible and how? I am still unrooted, but this would be the reason to root / custom rom
Thanks!

No LED light since upgrade to Oreo

Hi,
I've recently upgraded from N to O (8.1 OPM5, rooted), and ever since then I have no LED notifications at all.
Things done:
1. Enabling "Blink light" in notification settings.
2. Enabling/Disabling the "Ambient display" setting.
3. Checking w/ GravityBox' UNC (I have the pro version).
4. Checking w/ 3rd parties like LightFlow and Light Manager.
None of these worked, and the LED was never on at any color. When using Nougat I had no problem with it.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
This is what I've seen on another website:
"To start...Oreo notifications are very different from Nougat. Not only do you need to turn on the LED as you have already done, but you also need to go into each individual app and make sure you have the same thing turned on.
Here is one example...
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Gmail > Notifications > UNDER Miscellaneous tap on "Miscellaneous Make sound" and a new window will open and in here is where you make the individual app adjustments where you turn on "Always pulse notification light" > then go back one screen and tap on "Attachments Make Sound" and another window will open where you make the same adjustments per app as you just did.
The key here is that not only do some things have a toggle to turn them on or off, but those same toggles will open another windows when you tap on the words themselves which gives you more notification options than you thought were even available. Be patient and you will get it."
Thx for the reply, that's a good lead.
Unfortunately (for me), all settings are "on" for "Blink Light", and still the LED never turns on.
same here :/ everything is on but LED still doesnt work

Problem at Youtube

Does anybody know how I can get rid of this marks on display. They don't disappear automatically as they should. They go away only if I press x. This is very annoying
Go to the accessibility menu in settings, and turn off control phone via large menu and control device with switches.
