I have a rooted Droid Razr maxx with microphone problems. Phone is still under warranty and I'm told it's probably a microphone issue (I can only speak into the phone using a Bluetooth as the regular mic won't work). VZW wants to make sure it's not an App that's creating the problem so they want me to boot into safemode so they can walk me through things. Problem is that because I'm rooted, pressing the Power and volume up and down buttons doesn't bring me to the safemode status that they want. I get the boot manager because I'm rooted. I want to fix this and have tried unrooting, but although SU and other root apps are gone, I'm still rooted. Help. How can I get into safemode while rooted and on the phone with VZW? I will eventually need to unroot but the method I used (Doomlord) didn't work. Thanks.

You get the boot manager regardless if your rooted or not that has nothing to do with it and this is the razr M thread xt907 not the og razr thread

If I root my new Defy Plus using the one click root, how can I unroot it again, if I needed to send it back for example ?
Would a regular 'factory reset' take it back to unrooted state, or is there something else I'd need to do.
Try the unroot option in soc. If out don't work you can flash an avg anytime to restore the phone to 'just out of box' condition

Hi,
Not sure if Super one click will root the Defy plus. I tried it the first defy plus I got and it would not work.
Droid3 root did work though. I had to send it back due to it continually re booting. Used Pete's Root tools (think that's what it was called to un root it). Must have worked as I was sent a replacement phone with no problems.
Mind you the touch screen was faulty on that one. On my third defy plus and it is working fine after three days, fingers crossed!
Regards

Yes its the droid 3 root that works on the defy plus, I'll have to have a look for Pete's root tools if that's the way to unroot again.
does anyone know how can i be sure if my phone is unrooted or not? is that sure that pete's tools work?
Well, m8be a stupid question..
But what does it do ?
Can i put some other software on the root of this phone like i did on HTC ?
yes you can use new features on your phone like adblocker apps and for example you can delete apps that were installed on the device when you bought it.
Well i rooted my phone and somehow my camera (view from screen) ****ed up.
I tried a different android proggie from the market and did the same error.
So unroot did do the job and gave my camera and gave my view back.
Some1 got the same problem ?
I've never heard about such a problem before. but what program did you use to root and unroot the phone? cus we heard about a a few programs which work but let's make these things clear
DROID 3 easy root script v7
I also rooted my defy plus this afternoon, I used the newest version (2.3.1.0) of Super One Click and it worked. Both rooting and unrooting were finished and I also checked it with a few apps which need a rooted phone. Both rooting and unrooting were succesfull.
Because some apps works only on a rooted handy i tried again
with DROID 3 easy root script v7.
Superuser seems to work now.. also my camera
The only thing i didn't do is to go into boot section after the blue led thing.
So here's the story. Bought a used Droid X from a guy at work. Phone was fine. Never rooted or anything related to root. So I decided to root it. Used ZergRush method I believe. Installed Bootstrap Recovery. Wife used Rom Toolbox to change several notification icons, boot animation and boot logo. Everything was great for awhile, but she got tired of it always booting into recovery. So I was going to un-root and return to stock. Ran the same ZergRush Un-root app. Then removed Bootstrap and all other root apps. Then found out wife accepted an OTA before I un-rooted. Well, at this point the phone still worked, and was un-rooted, but still rebooted into recovery, still had custom boot animation and logo as well. So she then reset phone to factory defaults. After that is when we had problems. Basically it wouldn't load past the boot logo. I just pulled the phone out from its hiding spot after a month or so to try and tackle it again. But now I think the battery is shot because it won't turn on period, whether plugged in or not, and the battery looks like its swollen. Has a huge bulge in the middle.
My question is, do you think the phone is able to work again? Cuz if not, I'm not buying a new battery.
Yeah it sounds like a bad battery now but before would it would just boot to the red m? If so an sbf would probably do the trick
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Ya before it would boot to the M and stay there, until I pulled the battery. So hopefully new battery and sbf and it will work?
Well yeah an sbf should do you just fine
Just be sure once you do the sbf you boot into stock recovery (vol down+home+power then vol up+down together when you see the !) And do a factory reset or you'll just have another headache

Alright cool. Looks like I'll be finding a battery and having a whirl at this. Thanks for the replies
So i sbf'd the shadow 2.3.4 using rsd and it said it was completed and to manually boot the phone. So i did and it still stays at red m logo. Only difference is its now the red m where as before the sbf it was the pink Android my wife installed. So some progress I guess.
Any ideas? Try a different sbf file maybe?

EDIT: Nvm, tried a different sbf and it works fine now.
I know you say it would boot into the M but could you get it to boot into recovery?
Don't remember if i tried actually lol. Its plain now, no root or bootstrap, but it works

Anyone know why ...I have a weird phone as it is...none of the button combos are correct but I have figured out how to work around this. Can't boot phone unless I push the menu, camera, and volume down button. That takes me from the logo screen to the DROID eye and boots n safe mode.
I have sbf'ed so many times in the past week I don't want to open rsd.
I am on.612
I did do the Linux fix but still boots to safe mode and can't push bootstrap to system/app because of safe mode. Can't install anything because of that.
I'm back to os factory wiped and system recovery wiped .612 and safe mode. I let it go from 100% to dead last night...never booted. It only boots of I do the button combo and it goes to safe mode.
Any ideas??

Just asking cuz someone elsebpostedvalmost same time as you asking all kinds of questions.....come to find out the phone was dx2g.(didn't know there was a dx2g)
Are you using windows or Linux to sbf?
Personally I never had issues but some people say Linux is better for this.
And on that note havev you tried adb?

I have used both windows and Linux to do this. I have tried adb but adb isn't able to push the files because safe mode overrides root permissions. I rooted with the Linux CD. It shows its rooted but won't give me permissions. I just need to know a few things...hopefully someone will know the answers
Is there a reason via hardware that would make the phone only boot to safe mode?
Can someone help me flash cwm in safe mode? I cannot figure that out. I can't push the bootstrap files via adb as I mentioned and I can't install any apps that are 3rd party so I can't install it normally.

ok, hopefully someone can look at this logcat and help me...I cannot boot at all past the logo screen unless i do a button combo for the phone to go to safemode. it doesnt go to safemode with the normal process. I have tried to get into the sys via adb however even though im rooted, safemode wont allow permission to copy bootstrap recovery to system/app/.
I would love some help from someone who wont question whether or not I know how to use rsd and all the other noob questions...I am fully aware of how to use rsd and i am positive that my phone is a droid x and yes i am able to use linux. I have been getting questions like that...
I sbfed to the .621 and then used the linux disk to go to milestone and get root. My phone asked for root permission while i was in adb and i allowed it however im assuming that safemode wont allow it to truly work...
if it could be hardware...where would i begin troubleshooting the hardware??
Thanks in advance for your help My main concern is not getting bootstrap onto the phone, it is to get the phone to boot out of safemode. I have let the phone go from 100% to 0% waiting on it to reboot so I am sure that it is not me being impatient. I got it to boot into safemode by accident because I was actually trying to get it to boot into sys recovery to wipe after a sbf but the phone doesn't go to recovery normally either. I have to push and hold menu, camera, and volume down to get the triangle and then i can push the vol buttons together to get the recovery screen and wipe. however it never boots...unless i push the menu, search, and vol down buttons to get it to boot into safemode which...like i said, was discovered by accident. I have been keeping notes because this phone is def not normal.
On a side note, the phone is not activated because of these issues,.i am using my droid 4.
If you SBF and the problem persists, it's probably hardware.

Yeah, that's what we are looking into now. I took it to a diagnostic place but they have no idea what's wrong.

My Razr M is rooted running the leaked 4.1.1
I've tried to unroot using SuperuserSu to no avail. I've tried to uninstall the stock Superuser but all I can do is disable it, not uninstall it (as recommended for unrooting via SuperuserSU).
The reason for unrooting and returning to stock ICE is that now my bluetooth connection to car will not bring up the address book. While this may sound trivial it really isn't. Being able to make a "hands-free" call while driving is a key feature of good bluetooth connection and I seem to have lost that with root.
Any suggestions/help to unroot would be appreciated.
I'm not the best at this stuff, but my opinion is use the ICS fast boot files and start over. We're getting close to the JB release anyways, so it may be more beneficial to return to stock.
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
I went back and restored ICS which wiped out the root.
Thanks!
I used the Superuser app to unroot, and now I have lost root access but some files are still showing up. I can't do a factory wipe because when it reboots I get the little Android guy with a red exclamation point on his stomach. I have to send this phone back to VZW since the microphone died and they are sending me a new phone, but I have to remove all root evidence. What do I do? Root Checker pro states that the Superuser application is not installed. SuperSU application version 1.25 is installed. I've tried rerooting but that fails as well. Any thoughts as to how I can delete all the files associated with root? I am still on stock rom and have titanium backup, but now that won't work either.

Mattlegroff has a "root remover" app on the play store for a buck - just get that and you'll be good to go. Of course, if you've been rooted, its impossible to completely remove the evidence as they can check the root checker in recovery.
The dead android is stock recovery, you should be able to wipe from that (not that it would remove any root evidence, that's all in /system)

Being rooted doesn't void any warranties anyways it's just frowned upon. Unlocking your bootloader however does void your warranty
