Apk not installing? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
does anyone know how can we overcome security limitations in installing apk on galaxy s4? I am trying to install penetrate pro, (which worked fine on galaxy s3 btw) but for some reason although it allows me to start installing it...in the end it say, app not installed.
Any help or hints are appreciated.

Are you using screen filter app? I encountered something like this before, apk's won't install while the screen filter app is enabled.

Unable to click install button from apk file

I am currently running the latest paranoid android Rom on my nexus 4 using Franco's milestone 2 kernel. I am having problems installing apps that I downloaded (e.g., Adobe flash update). What happens is I can see the installation screen with the different permissions, but I cannot click on the install button. It works when I install apps from the play store but not through root browser, astro, es explorer. I have tried other apks to make sure it's not just that one file. As well, I had even removed those dimmer apps like twilight and lux before installing. I also stopped the running applications and then tried installing. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to try next. Maybe there is another uncommon app that I need to uninstall before installing off my card...
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

Disable HALO if you want to install apk`s.
Geez. You know how to flash paranoid android but not how to search? This has been mentioned many times..
Disable screen filter if you by any chance using it
It happened to me yesterday and it was found it was caused by file screen.

Disable Halo, then you can install it.
If you actually looked through the PA thread, you'd see this has been answered over 50 times within the last few pages.

you can not install adobe flash from the play store, flash does not support android 4.2.2. yoy would need to install it from the adobe site list of past flash updates. same with any other app from the play store that doesnt support the nexus 4 or the right android version.
thanks
this was very helpfull

AppWidgetDisplay
Also AppWidgetDisplay for Sony Smartwatch causes such behavior.
There is another way which will always work, If you don't want to waste your time.
Just use adb to install. As shown in the post below.

Moto X Kit [Download] By Droid Scoop

Moto X Kit By DroidScoop.net
This kit is a compilation of .apk files and wallpapers that will make your device function similar to the features found on the Moto X. We do not own the rights to any of these .apk's or wallpapers
Whats included:
Active Notifications .apk
Moto X Camera .apk
Moto X Gallery .apk
Twisty Launcher .apk
Sun Beam Live Wallpaper .apk
Moto X Wallpapers
Your device does not need to be rooted to use the following kit, but running an AOSP ROM provides a more intuitive interface.
Keep in mind the Moto X Camera as well as the gallery will not work on all devices. Most of the newer Motorola devices are compatible as well as many of the Samsung Galaxy phones. If issues arise use titanium backup to freeze the stock camera .apk
Also...
Active Notifications and twisty launcher must be configured to work as desired.
Download found at this Dev Host URL: d-h.st/FD1
Do Not Flash From Recovery
To install unzip the file and manually download the .apk files

Is this meant to be flashed or unzipped an installed individually?

Unzipped and individually installed I apologize for not specifying that. The zip file I initially prepared was going to be an add on that could be flashed through a recovery, but I was getting too many errors and force closes. Also this allows for more devices to become compatible. Rooted or not.
I'm getting a parsing error trying to install the active notifications apk on my gs4. Im running a custom rom on 4.2.2
Edit: I'm pretty sure it's because active notifications only works on 4.3 phones. I remember this app came out not too long ago and you needed to have 4.3

I'm running illusion ROM 4.2.2 on a GS3 and I have yet to have an issue. I also have successfully used active notifications on a Nexus 4 on 4.3 as well as a HTC droid incredible on Gingerbread.
Try downloading the APK directly from the Play Store if the file is not working.
I think the apk in the zip file may be an older version of the active notifications app. I downloaded from the playstote when I learned it now works with 4.0+ and it works fine now. I just wanted some way to have active notifications

The kit is simply a pack of .apk files which should work fine with most devices. We have already tested these on our T-mobile Note II running an AOSP ROM. Please let me know if any issues arise as we will promptly configure a fix.

I got a parsing error for the apk download for Active Notifications. Does this require me to download the app from the Play Store? I did that before hand, but I deleted it and tried to install the apk and said parsing still.

Try downloading the .apk from the Playstore and let me know how that works; Also what type of device are you using and what OS version. I have gotten this to work on a couple of rooted devices on ICS and Gingerbread but I have noticed that many devices not running 4.0+ are running into problems.

Dynamic Notifications works in the same concept, but it shows a stock android style icon for gmail and texts. I am using a Note II with stock 4.1.2 TW.

We just flashed stock TW on our Note II and we're getting the same error. So the only fix I'm seeing for this device is to flash an AOSP based ROM

Yeah, I think I am not really willing to root my device at this time. Thanks for the help though. If you find a fix besides the AOSP ROM of my choice, let me know via private message. Thanks, but outside of the Active Notifications, I enjoyed the wallpapers. I hope the Motorola apps will work on all devices.

My apologies for the delay,
The twisty launcher .apk is the only working method to simulate the Moto X's Quick capture camera. I have yet to find a device that supports this native feature other than the Moto X itself.

KitKat Saving pictures to SD card

I hope I'm not asking a stupid question (first post here).
I'm running CyanogenMod Nightly with Android 4.4.2 and Nova as my launcher. I'm trying to figure out how to have my pictures go to my SD card by default. I was able to do it before upgrading to 4.4.2 in the camera menu's options. Is there something I'm missing? It's going straight to my internal memory.
If there's no way to do it, is there a good camera app that lets me do it? I tried using (and paid for) Perfectly Clear but the app takes too long to load. I live in NYC, and crazy things happen all the time, I need the app to load right away, like the default app.
Thanks for everyone's help!
Mike
Haven't seen any of the 4.4 ROMs with save to SD an option..yet.
Saw a xposed mod for save to SD...haven't tried it yet, but might work for you.
But not an option yet that I've seen on 4.4 roms

Do you know of this would work on the Galaxy S3? I'm still on cm10.2 and save to SD is really the only thing keeping me from jumping to cm11. Would it be an issue if xposed were used only to solve this and when it's added to a nightly would it cause problems?
Dont see why it wouldn't! I never ran xposed on my s3 but I know a bunch of guys that do. And even if it doesn't you can always use an root explorer to move the pics to your SD card manually!

Apps Force Closing No Idea Why

Hey guys,
I am using Ditto Note 3 V3.2 and it has been fine to recently have had a few issues, I will install a app from the play store it will open up and load then just close, I have tried deleting/reinstalling and still have the issue. I also happens when I install apps from the internet (paid apps for free)
Is this a fault with the ROM/APK or the app isn't compatible with the Note 2?
I will appreciate all help

Phoenix Rom ?

Since I can't post in the development section I'll try asking here. I just install the Phoenix ROM on my Verizon Galaxy S5. I've been going through setting everything up and install my apps. When I try to install Trials Frontier it says that "my device is not compatible with this version". I think I have ran into this before I just don't remember what I did to fix it. I am really liking this ROM so far and would hate to have to go back to something else. Thanks for any help.
I've tired clearing data for the play store with no luck. Any help? ??
Usually screen resolution I think. Try changing your DPI maybe?
