Error of copying game apk to Android/obb - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, so I have a game Main data, and its apk file for installation. I have successfully copied the apk file to the "Download" folder. But when I try to copy the game data to "Android/obb" folder, it says that "impossible to copy, the peripheral device doesn't answer or is inactivated"
I try to uninstall the driver and reinstall, it doesn't work, Debogging mode via USB is enabled, Allow unknown source is enabled too.
My i9500 is rooted with Wanamlite v1.2 rom.
Do you know where is the problem? Thank you in advance

Did you pirate the game or buy it from the Play Store?

[Q] Installing downloaded apk's

Hi everyone,
I just got my n4 and love it but would like to be able to download apps/games off the net and install them. What do I need to do? I'm very new to this as I've come from iPhone jailbreaking I know it's different.
Thanks
T
You need to go to settings, Security and allow non market apps.

So That means I can download paid versions of apps and install them? What does "rooting" do? Cheers

you cant discuss illegal apk stuff on the forums here. you're on your own.
Understood thanks anyway

You don't need to root. Hypothetically, let's say you didn't have access to the Play Store and wanted to download and install apps. Just find the apk file for it, such as "File Manager APK," transfer to your phone, then click it to install it. It might ask you to go to settings to allow Unknown Downloads, and if it asked, do so. Only use this for free apps =D
Ah okay perfect! What is rooting for then? Also does anyone know a site that specializes in free APS? Not paid necessarily just apks to get

Rooting helps with some apps that require it in particular, such as Titanium Backup. Rooting alone just helps unlock a few features, although it doesn't add anything until you act (unlike Jailbreaking which adds in Cydia and such). Read here
As for the free apps you can't get from Google Play, just searching on Google might bring something up.
I prefer to just install over adb.
Code:
adb install *.apk

Just pay for them. I used to do what you're talking about and its ****, not only was I ripping developers off and stifling their innovation, I was also wasting time looking for new updates and finding fixes
I don't sideload any paid apps now, if I like the app enough to want to look for the apk, I'll buy it ... If I can't afford it, I add it to my wishlist and purchase it when I can

Also, you should remember there is a risk on installing apps from an unknown source.
If you don't want to use the Play Store, you can download some APKs here, on XDA. Those apps are non-commercial versions released by the greatest developers in the world: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1913 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=530 .
Awesome cheers for the heads up I think ill pass on getting the paid stuff for free

Okay, I have a question;
There are some free apps that aren't available in some countries. Also, there are some free apps available on specific websites only which aren't on the Play Store (like free apps on XDA, Swype).
I tried emailing a free app to my friend- he has a Nexus 4- but it won't allow him to download the .apk file on his phone and run it. I've also tried to send .apk files to a Galaxy Nexus via Bluetooth but it says that the file isn't supported and fails to be sent on the phone!
Is there a solution to this or is the answer to simply transfer the file via the USB cable?

How are you sending the APK file? Through email? I know some emails block out files that can be 'dangerous'. For example, gmail doesn't let you transfer exe files.
What is the exact error that he's experiencing?

Or he may upload the file to sites such as mediafire. Or change the "Tail" of the file, from exe to anything else, or zip it.

I have the .apk file stored on my memory card of my Galaxy S3. I simply attached it to Gmail and sent it to his email address through my phone. I know for a fact that Gmail does not block .apk files so there's no need to zip them! He said that the phone would not let him install it. I really hope that he has "Unknown Sources" ticked. That would be embarrassing if he hasn't allowed that (he's new to Android and lives far away so it's hard to get a quick reply from him).
But onto my point of sending the .apk file via Bluetooth; it simply would not allow me to send it to a Galaxy Nexus (yes, I know this is a Nexus 4 forum but I feel that I'd experience the same issue on a Nexus 4). The file was not compatible, apparently (although it ran and installed fine on my Galaxy S3).
I simply don't have a Nexus device to test these things with and my friends keep asking me such questions that's why I'm asking around. It'd be great to know the answer so that I can fully recommend Nexus devices to iPhone users.

Unpack .xap for editing - FAILED

I found solution to rename .xap to .zip and be able to edit .xap but It's not working. Probably new .xap's are encrypted. Any solution? Is there any tool for decompile?
XAPs themselves are still regular ZIP-Files. They get encrypted when they are uploaded to the Marketplace. Therefore you seem to try to crack Software downloaed from the Marketplace. There is currently no known way to make this happen.
If you have a developer-unlocked device, I thought you could sideload unsigned/self-signed xap files? I'm new to this whole Windows Phone thing though. I still need to set up a dev box with Windows 8 on it so I can write apps!

Side-load? Sure. If you have an SD card slot on your device. Be aware, that the device will still contact the store to double check the file, so you won't escape payment like this.
You need a Windows 8 PC to develop apps, and those you will be able to side-load once you get your phone registered. (Check this), but since browsing the file system is currently not possible, you still won't be able to access the side-loaded app.
The process to put Apps on the phone is like this:
1 XAP uploaded by Dev to the Store
2 XAP gets precompiled and encrypted
A3 XAP gets downloaded from the Store on the Device
or
B3 XAP gets downloaded from the Store Homepage and put on SD Card
B4 XAP gets selected for install from SD Card inside the Device
B5 Store is contacted to check the App license
6 device decrypts XAP
7 device installs App
So you can't decrypt Apps that have been downloaded from the Store. The whole key Management is currently only done on the device and to my knowledge not broken.
There is another path for App Installation if you have a developer unlocked device.
1 Write App
2 Package App in XAP file (this XAP is unencrypted and can either be uploaded to the Store where it would get encrypted or)
3 Deploy XAP to the unlocked device
4 Device accepts unsigned XAP due to developer unlock
5 App is installed
There are Tools that allow you to Access the Isolated Storage of Apps you have deployed using the developer unlock (look for Apps like the Windows Phone Power Tools). You can not deploy XAP files that are encrypted using that way though (protection against piracy).
I know all this tricks, and I'm using xap deployer to deploy xap and all of that.
I just want to know is here any way to hack or crack some xaps? Is here any black market to download cracked xaps?
so you said no way to extract XAP from Store. :/
No there isn't. But if you're looking for Warez you're at the wrong address anyway.

I found application that can recompile installed app back to .xap with no encryption.
But I can't install that excavated app.

SCH-i705 & Google Maps

Hello everyone
I am sorry that my first post is a request, but I couldn't find what I need anywhere.
I have a SCH-i705 running Android 4.1.2, it is not mine, but belongs to the company I work for. they have an Admin app installed that blocks google play; they don't want users to install apps that might interfere with their installed app. however, I can install and uninstall apps using adb.
I need to update Google Maps to the latest v7. I searched and downloaded a copy, but it flickers too much, and I read somewhere that I need the version that is specific to this device. I tried with androidvm in virtualbox and downloaded a copy, but the same thing, flickering, maybe I didn't provide the emulator with the correct specifications for this tab. I tried also to modify google play by renaming the package then repackage it using apktools, but I might missed something because the new renamed phonesky package crashes with error Can't find resource for bundle 'org.keyczar.i18n.messages_en_US', key ''
solving this problem for a newbie to android programming might take some time, so for now, I need copy of the Maps app pulled from this device if possible or be pointed to a renamed google play or a replacement for it.
thanks in advance.
Thank you Jxt., I will download it.
on the other hand, someone at another forum told me to use Real APK Leecher which is here at xda. I will give it a try too.

App Problem

*Not sure if in proper section, move if need be*
Noob here so try to dumb things down for me!
Ok, so I followed this tut HERE.
I was able to debug it to my android for testing and it worked. So I exported it as .apk and uploaded it to 4shared.com.
Now my problem is, after downloading to my phone, I went to [Install Package] and it said "Application not installed"
What would be the problem and how would I go about fixing it?
Thanks in advance
~Brine
How are you trying to install the app:
connect your device using USB cable to the comp. and run
Code:
adb install <path_to_apk>
on a terminal
Make sure that the app is not already installed as there could be certificate conflicts it a debug version is installed already. If some version is already installed, just uninstall it and try.
Also try enabling Settings > Security > Unknown sources (turn it off after you are done if you are not sure)

The app not installed errors show up when you try to install an app not ment for your device
Genral cases are
It requires hardware not present in your device
