[CLOSED] Navbar is invisible on homescreen (can still see buttons) - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just flashed the ROM Buttered AOKP Manta 2013-5-14 both using the aroma installer and normal zip flash, and the Navbar goes invisible when tapping the home button, I can still (barely) see the white buttons, and it looks horrible because the background is made to darken towards the navbar, but now it darkens and then it's just clear wallpaper.
I have even tried a separate kernel (which I am running now) 3.4.45-ktmanta and the problem did not go away (but at least my logitech mouse and keyboard work)
I tried searching the ROM thread and this troubleshooting forum but I have been unable to find anybody mentioning anything like this, but then again I am kinda rubbish with searching...
So what did I do wrong, or how can I fix this?
any help will be highly appreciated. Because it's driving me mad
Thank you.
edit:turns out that going in Transparency and changing it to something other then 100%alpha and back again repairs it, and works after reboot as well

[Q] Just upgraded to CM9 ICS.....

.... and I have some questions that someone can hopefully answer. I've searched thru the Nook Color forums but couldn't find anything relevant.
First: Installation to EMMC on my Nook Color was flawless and all my apps installed and ran without problem.
This CM9 release is AWESOME! Everything looks and works great!!! Its so nice to have all the icons look great without having to screw with LCD density.
Questions: First question really important... other two just annoyances.
1) Full Screen Apps: I have Auto Hide checked under System>Combined Bar. Yet the status bar will not go away when running full screen apps such as Angry Birds, PowerAmp, and Repligo Reader. Is there another setting somewhere for this???? Or is this something that's broken and waiting to be fixed????
2) Soft Buttons in the status bar: There are three buttons showing: Back, Home & Recent Apps. The Home button is redundant as the Nook button does that. The Recent Apps button is totally useless for me and I would like to change it to a Menu button. But I can't find any settings for the Soft Buttons like there was in CM7 under the CyanogenMod settings.
3) Power Control Widget: I was able to turn buttons off and on in settings for the Power Control Widget in CM7. That appears not to be the case in CM9.... I only need and want the WiFi and Brightness buttons. How do I select Power Control Buttons in CM9?????
Running CyanogenMod version 9-20120703-UNOFFICAL-encore
Take a look at the AOKP port for the nook by Krylon360 in the dev thread. All that is possible.

Some things fixed....
I was unable to download Zeam Launcher from Google Play.
Said my device was incompatible.
Bullfeathers......
Found the newest Zeam version v3.1.10, downloaded and installed it, and it works just fine.
Running Zeam fixed problem number 1 above.... with Zeam running, the status bar is moved back to the top and all my full screen applications work perfectly now.
Problem number 2 has changed somewhat.... no soft buttons now in the status bar. This isn't a real problem as I'm used to using Button Savior, which really helps when in a full screen app. It would still be nice to move the status bar back to the bottom and have the Back and Menu soft buttons, but I can live with the way it is now.
Problem number 3 is still valid and I hope someone out there knows something about it.
Thanks j8048188 (wild handle there!)
I'll check it out, but at the moment I'm now totally happy with this version of CM9 as it sits.
Started playing with this upgrade at 4:30 this afternoon and now have everything the way I want it for a while. Time to actually use it instead of hacking it!
About wifi and brightness buttons.
I don't think you really need them, as when you touch the clock a mini menu appears with sliding bars to adjust them both.
Unleashed from my Revolutionized Desire HD
I see what you mean... controls available by tapping the clock.
But that window is still two touches away before actually changing the brightness or turning the wifi on or off. While the power control bar is just one touch.

Can you disable the on screen buttons to use the full screen?

I want to get the Nexus 4 but only if I can disable those buttons as all the videos I see they turn invisible in full screen apps but you're left with a black bar instead of the full screen working. I'm worried that it is at a hardware level and you'll never be able to disable them so you can have the full use of the screen. It's such a big downer seeing the phone compared to other phones and how much space those buttons take.
Thanx.
Edit: I don't want it where I have to go into a menu to switch them on or off. I want them to hide themselves when I haven't got my finger in the area so I can quickly use them, otherwise it would get annoying having to keep manually turning them on and off.

Not built into Android? You'd have thought it would be a feature that would be one of the first to make it in.
In some roms you can make them smaller, but disabling doesn't make sense because you cannot control your phone without them.
Maybe a toggle in the powermenu(longpress power) would be a compromise.
You can use GMD Gesture control from the play store if you dont want to have to flash a ROM to do this. All you do is swipe with three fingers up from the bottom of the screen and BOOM they disappear. You can make your own gesture to do this too!
I use LMT Launcher on my Galaxy Nexus, my navbar is enabled like 95% of the time. Hopefully someone can come up with a mod to hide the navbar.

This is very easy to do. Not sure in JB 4.2, but in JB 4.1.2 all you have to do is remove these lines out of the build.prop:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Make sure to use something like LMT Launcher pie control to replace the on screen buttons. This is by far my favorite setup as I can not stand on-screen buttons taking up screen real estate.
Edit... Someone may want to confirm this on a stock rom as I'm not seeing this in AOKP.
Why does everyone feel the need to create a thread for one question? There is a help threa stickied for a reason, so i'd appreciate if questions were asked there, especially such general questions like this one. Please help us keep this forum cleaner guys.

TabletUI VS PhabletUI Vs PhoneUI

So Actually I was going to write a thread about the two themes present in the samsung's TouchWizUI: White and Blue.
My Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 i.e. tab shows me only white theme while the phones shows the blue one.
But while messing with the LCD density I found that the firmware Actually has both of the themes.
so I started experiments on my tab with different LCD Densities and found that while we have both of the themes but we actually have all the three UIs with us too.
It's been the 4.1.1 update that made me loose my fav tabletUI and make it to the PhabletUI.
By changing Lcd density, we can see the changes in the UI.
Please see the attachments for Screenshots.
Range:
Below 140 is the TabletUI with the white theme.
Between 140 and 160 is the PhabletUI with white theme
Above 160 is the PhoneUI with the BLUE theme
though changing LCD density to other than 160 will make the touchwiz home and keyboard app to crash.
but using alternatives [launcher and keyboard app] can make it cool.
also densities greater then 160 [phoneui] will also cause the camera app to crash and the UI will change the camera Icon with a cute little green android.
Review:
TabletUI:
1) Samsung white theme is seen
2) There is no bar on the top
3) Notification bar opens from bottom
4) Battery percentage Is displayed
5) Even on rotation to the landscape, button bar [The one with the back, home and recent buttons on, sorry don't know the name for it] stayes at the bottom
6) In lockscreen only bottom bar is present
PhabletUI:
1) Samsung white theme is seen
2) Bar on either side of screen i.e. Notification bar on top and the action bar [let us give it a name] at bottom.
3) notification comes from top
4) notification bar doesn't fill the screen
5) no battery percentage indicator
6) On rotation each bar stays at there respective position.
7) lock screen differs from tabletUI as there is only top bar not the bottom one.
PhoneUI:
1) Samsungs's beautiful blue theme is seen.
2) UI almost same as PhabletUI with each bar on either side of the screen
3) Notification fills the home screen like what happen in a phone
4) When orientation changed to landscape, the Bottom action bar shifts to the right
5) Gestures in the bottom bar used to open google ow is not present.
6) Battery indicator is blue in color while it is green on the other two modes
7) When connected to PC via USB, Battery indicator neither shows a cross mark nor it shows charging.
8) Settings menu now don't have the dual panel
9) Camera icon replaced by android icon
100 Camera app is crashed
I also see a little performance boost when in phoneUI made.. may be because of no TouchWiz mode.
[Note:
Remember to install a launcher before changing the LCD density because it will make your TouchwizUI to crash and you will not able to select your apps from the app drawer.
Rather you can also put your build.prop editor in the homescreen shortcuts so than you can use it from there. but make it before the changes, you will not be able to make changes in homescreen shortcuts as it is a part of TouchWiz home and on opening, it will crash.
Your replies are appreciable.

This is why its best not to mess with stuff you dont understand lol... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081640
Easiest way to change modes is to use a custom ROM. AOKP being the better choice. DPI changer built into the ROM If you wish to add a custom theme ( set it to 159, default being 160) and you can switch modes via ROM control and a quick reboot. I'm sure the OP knows what hes doing , just giving some advice to less experienced users.

I know that custom roms have better control on modes but the motive of this post to tell others that we already have the three modes with us along with the two themes ON STOCK ROM.
For those who don't want to shift to a custom rom or argue that we lost our UI after updates. This post is for them.
Less experience lol
I agree with you totally , but the amount of threads in this forum where people have messed with stuff not knowing what they are doing are plenty. Hey I was one of them when I joined the forums :crying: I've had bootloops by the dozen and even totally bricked a device by flashing the wrong thing on to it , an expensive mistake to make.
I actually like the stock ROMs , just that i prefer total control over the ROM i use, a personal choice ....same as yours ! I was just offering advice to new users. Basically make sure you know what you are doing before you do it or use something that's designed for the job if you dont.
Finding out how to recovery from a bootloop and how to restore a device from a nandroid is a must.
I do find it strange why people stay on stock , not even with root access.Surely that's what the spirit of Android is about, what makes our tabs different from the locked down nature of the iPad. Obviously its the users choice as they paid for the device , just an observation.
Have fun with your DPI

we won't learn to stand unless we fall.
okie I was infant about the bootloops. but I've learned from it.
I've previously use many custom roms and flashed my xperia many times. even bricked it a lot. Flashed , bricked and recovered.
I guess thats how u learn.
and regarding staying at stock was because this tab and its TouchWiz is new to my hand and want to learn it before trying something.
Trust me custom roms are not so far from me.
Amen brother ! If you have never had a bootloop you're not an Android fan
I actually got the phone UI by mistake on AOKP M1 > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33898491&postcount=440 ,seems really strange on a tablet. But was fun messing with it. As for stock....Just about to flash the new official-ish JB on to my tab and give it a spin , be rude not to IMO.
Get a custom ROM on your tab you will love it, what you got to lose ? Can always flash back.
If you are concerned about warranty issues > http://www.xda-developers.com/android/triangleaway-reset-flash-counter-tool/ :good:

Can you post some FAQ's and all
HTC One Illusion Rom FAQs
How do I enable HALO?
Go into settings. Under Illusion System Settings, select interface. You will find Halo Options. Here you can turn on halo, and tweak the way Halo works.
Where is my Data toggle in the notification pane quick settings panel?
As of right now, the only way to toggle data is through the Data Usage menu in settings. A fix is being worked on for this. I believe the problem exists in quite a few ROMS for the One.
Why isn't my NFC working?
Don't worry, all you need to do is flash the file at the bottom of this post title NFC Fix. This fix was pointed out by @Pony Express.
How do I enable/Disable CRT animations?
CRT off animation can be toggled under Illusion System Settings>Display
How do I access Google Now?
On the HTC One, the HTC logo is NOT a button. However, in the Illusion ROM (and some other ones), the strip above the logo has been modded to work as a button. Long pressing that stip will give you instant access to Now
Are there any other Bugs I should be aware of?
Not sure if it is mac only, or whether this will occur on PC as well, but if you connect as MTP, mac does not recognize it. ADB and PTP work fine. It is only MTP where this issue occurs. At this point, I feel the issue is with Macs being unable to recognize the MTP protocol. I was able to work it on a PC.

If Anyone has Feature Requests, post them HERE. NOT in the Dev thread. The Dev thread is really only for dev issues.
I have 3 major bugs/issues I would love to see sorted out.
1. Halo bubble stays at the edge of screen - insanely irritating
2. The Camera is... uhhhm. not as good as the Sense Camera. Any way to port Zoe? or even just the lowlight image processing?
3. I actually think this is how Android lockscreen widget was designed, but by default DashClock only displays clock. I have to expand it to show other info. Is there any possibility for permanently expanded lockscreen widget?
Annnd, A feature Request: Would it be, in any way, possible to port Slims hardware button rebinding feature? I would love to have long press back as multitask, long press home for settings, and swipe up on home for Search...
Also, has anybody with At&t tried NFC fix? Does it work? I flashed it, but no way to test until I go back to school in september (all my NFC tags are in my lockers, and I use it for Science lab access)
illusion rom ''theme chooser''
i''ve just instaled the rom, it works great btw, but when i click on theme chooser it says : unfortunately theme chooser has stopped. so i cant choose the key lime pie theme :''( , does anyone now how to fix this?

Custom software "back" button keeps reseting

Hello there everyone!
This is my first time posting, but have been using xda for awhile now as this community is amazing with all the work everyone puts in and the beautiful work they do!
So to get to the point. Ive been working on setting up the NERV Evangelion theme for my nexus 7 being a huge fan of the anime and love the look and functionality of the skin.
Upon setting this up, theres a choice to change the software buttons on the nexus 7 from the normal white 'back, home, and recent' buttons to custom ones that are orange to match the theme and also change the way they look.
I have it rooted and running AOKP with Nova launcher. and within the AOKP settings it allows me to add/change/move the software keys at will as well as change the icons etc. which is great, and works great! however after changing the button icons, as soon as i put it to sleep or the screen turns off, the custom back button icon changes back to the stock one whilst the others stay.
If i go back to change it back to the custom, it does it fine, but then as soon as the screen sleeps, again it changes no matter what. even if i have it in a different position...
So anyone have any ideas on this? no idea whats goin on, and cannot find anything on this subject and would appreciate the help a bunch, thanks!
