If you're new to titanium backup, it may not be immediately obvious, but you can freeze the apps instead of delete them. It will have the same effect as deleting the apps, but you can defrost them to restore them to full function if you have problems. It's always a good idea to freeze apps first, and only delete them if there are no negative side effects after a period of time.

totally new to this

Hey Guys,
Iam trying to flash my samsung vibrant to a new ROM. But what if I wont like it and want to go back to an original firmware my phone came with? I tried searching answers but there are multiple ones and I cant understand it so figured I ask here. Can I somehow backup my current version or download it so I can go back to just stock firmware that the phone came out the box?
Thanks for your help
You can make a back up with rom manager or you can learn to odin back to stock. Check the stickies or search for more info.

thanks, tried rom manager but cant get it to backup need to look into odin backup
Odin doesn't do backups, you can flash back your stock Froyo rom using it though.
Search in here how to flash back to stock throthroug odin so u can download the proper ROM

In order to make a backup, you need to be rooted, in order to root you need to have an update.zip file on your phone in order for the file to work you need to be on 2.1 firmware, you can probably find the file stickied in the development section, or q/a section.

Odin is the ticket. It doesn't do a backup - it restores your phone to it's fresh out of the box state. There are 2 files you need, but they're easy to find.
But blaqr0d is going to be right - once you start flashing you will only want to go back to stock if you encounter a problem.
Here's a vid I think is very helpful.
OP, please read my stickies in my signature. You will learn a lot and not waste others time.

Continuum stock rom image

Does a stock rom image for the continuum exist that can be flashed with Odin and not CWM? I dont think my phone is bricked cause I can get into the download and recovery screens. I just cant do anything from the recovery screen its stuck.
Im either gonna fix this or smash this phone to pieces. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lol, chill... I'll go on my computer now and share the link with you xP

Ok so I might not smash it but boy is this frustrating.
Thanks for your help lol =)))
Ive done some extensive searching and I havent found a single stock continuum rom for odin anywhere. So if you could create one or point me in the direction of where I could download one I would appreciate that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967165
Check that out.... Flash with Odin.. Then find (in the Continuum Android Development section) the DL17 update zip, and put that on your sdcard (named update.zip)...
Then you should be good to go...
However, i highly suggest you getting CWM working... Recovering is a lot easier with it... If you are having difficulty go log onto the IRC (http://webchat.freenode.net/) with the #Samsung-Continuum and i will help you out
You are my effin hero... All I needed was the kernel and it fired right up. Ill be keeping these files close cause Im sure Ill need them again.
Thank you!!!!
Justin
Lmao, no problem man.. haha.. Thank imnuts too for all of his development
BTW: If you stop by the IRC i will help you get cwm up and working.. Then you can flash themes, make backups, and flash my awesome Softkey Modifications
Any idea why I cant access data? Im on the phone with verizon but still no luck..
Also cant access the sd card from my pc and wifi on the phone will not connect..
Verizon is stumped they told me to take it back to the store for a replacement..
What a long day lol =)
Also voice service works I can make calls and send/receive text messages just no data. No 3g indicator.
Nevermind I got it figured out.. Everything is running normally with the DL17 clean rom.
Thanks again

Lol, with Nandroid backup, it makes a compleeeete backup of everything.... Which means it backs up your email logins, facebook logins, GOOGLE logins, everything... Which means they could buy apps on the market using your account..... Not good, lol..

[Q] DL17 remove superuser to get back to stock

I have flashed back to DL17 and I need to get back to complete stock to send my phone back for warranty, i.e. remove superuser, busybox, etc. I know this can be done easily in the terminal emulators, but here's the catch; I can barely see the screen to verify what I am doing so that method is useless. I need a method to remove those and root access so the warranty is not "voided". Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Dl17 odex stock from database in Dev section will do the trick. Flash via Odin.

worked to get back to stock, however i still had root access and superuser was still showing the app drawer. Found a work around using super1click universal and the psneuter exploit to unroot and remove superuser and busybox(atleast the program says its gone). now can't wait for the replacement to get back to miunia rom so i can ditch this blackberry. Thanks for all y'all have done so far, unbelievable how much it helps this phone out.
PS. i realize this is more a development thread question but i don't have enough posts yet for that section. apologies.
Thank you ciscogee for the quick reply and the stickied dev thread with all the ROMS organized. incredible

Noob here and I got questions

If this is in the wrong part of the forum please move it.
So I just got a s4. Switched over from iPhone 5. I blindedly updated to the MF3 firmware. Ive read the sticky threads and managed to root my phone.
But now I'm completely clueless on what I can do. I'm basically in to android for theming but I'm guessing I need a custom Rom.
I also want to get rid of the AT&T bloat ware. How do I do that?
Thanks guys.
Sorry if it's sounds so dumb but this is my first time using android.

Read the "software update" thread. The "sticky" threads you read also have information or lead to information that can help you. Doing a search of the sub forums should get you a lot of results as well. All of the answers you asked are in those threads.
And yes, this should be in the Q & A section, however, for future reference, please use the search function or look at the related topics that appear while posting to find answers before posting in any section. Good luck.

The new phones should already come with MF9. At the least MDL. If they don't do the update at best buy you can do it yourself. It is very easy. And rooting is a sinch..just use Auto root and there is a video tutorial by QBKing77 that is stickiedm follow directions and you can root within 5 mins.

very easy.
Once you have recovery, you can install rom. This is the one I used:
