I have been modding sysui for a week. Today I shut my phone off for a while. When I turned it on, NO STATUS BAR, until I connected my usb to my pc, and poof, STATUS BAR IS BACK. Disconnect, and works fine until I reboot or cycle power. I have changed a few xmls and smalis, and I'm totally confused. I know its sysui because I went back to stock. When I cycle power or reboot, no fc's, phone works normal, just statusbar is invisible. When I plug into usb, get "media connected" message and statusbar reappears. Is there any help or ideas???

I forgot to mention I use VTS for dev work.

Here is another update. If I get any sort of notification, the status bar reappears and stays until reboot or power cycle. Hmmmm

sorry i can't offer a solution, but... i see the same behavior using a modded SystemUI; i just toggle Wifi on/off and i'm good to go. a minor annoyance, yes; i'll wait to address once we can flash custom recoveries/ROMs. by the way i also experienced the same behavior on my Note II.

Thanks... good to know I'm not going crazy. I was good until I touched a smali. I too am waiting for recovery. Getting tired of moving entire apk's around. Getting a good handle on the changes to 4.2 which is time never wasted. Thanks again

I just noticed that my GPS icon is visible at the top of my notification bar. I haven't installed any new programs since flashing the firmware, so I am not sure what is making the GPS turn on right now. And I just rebooted my phone this morning. I haven't rebooted again to see if it comes back--I want to see how long it stays there. But it has been there for five minutes or so now. Is there a way to see what app has told the phone to make the GPS active?
By the way, does anyone else think the new firmware requires a longer, more deliberate swipe to wake up the phone after tapping the power button?
um... I have the new firmware, and the GPS icon is not persistent.
I run stock, and the GPS will kick in at times, no idea why. It's not persistent though.

If you have adb enabled, and can run adb logcat when the GPS kicks in and see what running process that might be accessing this?
Even I have the same problem.
Is it the plus sign inside a rhombus with signal strength to the right side of it??
My fascinate got updated 2 days ago and ever since the sign appears on my status bar.
Also, after the update I am not able to connect my phone to my Mac. Its not able to mount the disk.
Please help !!!
Thanks,
DJ
I like ka5 too.. the heptic feedback is still notworking right but ill keep this firmware until the official one comes..
This was happening to me on JL5. Turns out it was ShopSavvy barcode scanner (Big In Japan). I promptly uninstalled. Just a thought...
So I've found a lot of threads about red flashing notification light while trying to boot up... however I am getting the red notification light rapidly flashing while my device is on and idle, and seams to be ok. As soon as I hit the power and wake it up, it stops flashing. Battery is at 78%, wifi and cell signal are registering. As far as I can tell, everything seems ok. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this happen before, or what might be causing it? My Nexus 4 is not rooted and is stock.

I don't think that's it. I only have a few apps on it atm, and none of them have a setting for notification light. Also it happens everytime it goes to sleep now and has been to sleep for awhile. When I wake it up, it stops, and there is no notifications in the notification shade. Really confused by this, heh.

sweet.
its actually surprising just how many issues a reboot can fix
For some reason my screen won't shut off when I press the power button or by itself after any amount of time. I made sure all of the settings were set right that might keep it on. I know it's not hardware damage because I've pretty much never dropped it or handled it hard. The power button still works because it will get the turn off, restart, etc screen to go. Any idea how to fix it? I already did a factory reset.

Dial *#0*# check some test for dimming, sleep etc.

Download wakelock detector and see which app is keeping your screen on.
Dialed that number, the dimming worked, but the sleep button didn't do anything. I'll try that app out and see what it says.
In my understanding *#0*# dialing is for hardware check, if sleep is not working from there means it has nothing to do with any app & better to take to service centre.

It didn't do it until after I tried to change my boot screen. Know if that would do anything? No boot animations go off besides the galaxy note 3 one (no Tmobile or samsung animation, and no shut off animation). I also rooted it so would they still help me even though the knox counter is 0x1?
Any help? Using the wakelock app it says that system manager application is used a lot more than anything else. Not sure what it does.

Try to flash complete stock ROM & clear Data & Catch before & after flashing from recovery may HELP.
That fixed it. I'm not sure why I didn't already try that since it seems kinda obvious. Don't know what made it do that though. Do you happen to know if modifying the boot animations can mess other things up?
Mine its not rooted still stock and all of the sudden started acting up with the screen ....i did the *# test and when i went to sleep it went straight to the lock screen ...any idea what could cause it
help

Mine does this every time I reboot my phone. I have to press and hold the home key, pick the pie chart, pick RAM and pick "Clear Memory". Then it's fine til the next time I reboot.
I had my note 3 with the same problem and solved it recovering the original system/media/bootsamsung*.qmg files.
to solve the problem plug the charger and unplug it immediately and plug it back in again. This is also the reason why the problem is caused. So doing it again will solve the problem.
So for the last couple of days my HTC One M7 would recieve a notification and the screen would just stay on the entire time for no apparent reason. Im on latest OmniROM and its starting to bug me. Like for instance I get new mail on Gmail in the middle of the night. The screen turns on, it show the notification, and it doesnt turn off until I turn it off. If I restart, its fine for a few hours, but as soon as I get a notification, the problem reappears.

Dude, you took less than 24 hours before bumping. Not everyone checks the forums regularly.
Also, per the FAQ, bug reports belong on jira.omnirom.org
However the behavior you describe is a feature in Omni. Let me guess - you turned on Active Display and forgot about it? (Since it's off by default, and the behavior you describe is not something I've ever seen on any device when AD was disabled.)

Nope.
Just to note, I am seeing the same thing on my nexus 5 running the 10/13 nightly. AD is disabled and I have never enabled it. I was wondering why sometimes I would pull my phone out of my pocket and the display would be on. Since reading this I have verified that this happens when I get a notification. I will submit a bug report on jira.omnirom.org.
eta: oops, I just realized you need an account for jira.omnirom.org.

This doesn't occur on any of my devices, including a Nexus 5.
Are you running some sort of notification customization app of some sort?
Define "screen on" - Lockscreen? Blank with backlight on?

I am not running any notification customization apps just straight Omni nightlies. It happens with any notification that I receive. It goes to the lock screen and stays on until I unlock it. I am going to wipe and reinstall the ROM and try and determine if it's an app issue.

Do you have "screen stays on while charging" enabled? Even then, it shouldn't be turning on for a notification in the first place.
None of my devices turn on for a notification in any situation, and the screen always shuts off quickly (faster than the screen timeout setting) when it's at the lock screen unless "screen stays on when charging" is set in Developer Options.
Anyone else notice once the phone has been on for long enough, you can no longer pull down the status bar to see notifications? Reboot fixes it. Software is 100% stock.

How long is "long enough"? When I was on call last week I had the phone on for 7 days straight and never had that problem. Using Nova Launcher...not sure if that makes a difference??

Maybe? I'm using mifavor launcher, but doesn't seem to matter what app I'm in. I'll try Google Now launcher. Not sure what's causing it, but I'll update if/when I figure it out.
Think I figured it out. I had notification shade disabled on lock screen. Enabling that and haven't had the issue since. This makes me think this feature is broken.
