Hi everyone,
I bought an unlock code online today and received the code. I put in another network's sim card and inputted the code, and then it showed "Network code unlock unsuccessful". Thinking I typed the code wrong the first time, I tried it a second time, and still the same message. Not wanting to hard lock my phone, I stopped trying and emailed the website for help.
I did try to use the Note 2 & S3 unlocking method a few days earlier, and got to the part where I turned the PERSO SHA256 flag OFF and I left it off since. Do you think that caused the code to fail because the network lock function was disabled? Also, how many times can I try to put in the code before it will hard lock? Is it 3 or 5?
Thanks for your help!
If persona 256 is off is it number 1 or second one if second it should be unlocked and not need the code just go back into menu and use nv initialization

unlock once will unlock forever?
Yeah, pretty much so

There is no option for NV initialization on the s4.. which is why I stopped at the step to turn off SHA256.

After turning it off, go to the umts screen then choose control then NV rebuild then restore NV backup. You should do this with the unregistered sim card in the s4. Hope this helps

I tried the NV rebuild then both Load default NV and Restore Back-Up but both methods did not work.
Did you insert an unregistered sim card while doing the steps?

Yes I did, but it didn't work. Maybe because my S4 is the Canadian variant and not the international variant?
Anyways, to answer my original question, it was the PERSO SHA256 flag that caused the error message. I turned PERSO SHA256 back to ON and it accepted the network lock code provided by the unlocking website.

I did purchase an unlock code from unlock-code-central.com. Put a different SIM, typed in the code, got the message all went well, however phone says "emergency calls only"
Can anybody please help me with this?
Is my phone unlocked or not?

There was no need to purchase the code as there are several threads here on how to menu unlock it. But since we are beyond that, I'm guessing the other SIM is not provisioned and has no service on it. Try using a friends T-mobile SIM. That's how I was able to check the menu unlock method.

Thank you for your answer.
I used a regular size Vodafone SIM which I just used in Europe last month, on my other phone, so that SIM should be ok.
However I used a SIM cutter to transform in into a microSIM . Visually looks ok too. Could it be that in this process the SIM (now microSIM) got damaged somehow?
When I first insert it, I was prompted for the unlock code, which I typed, got an ok message, but that's about it.
Now says "emergency calls only" and it does NOT prompt me for the unlock code anymore.
Original ATT SIM works just fine.
There's more: I just put that Vodafone microSIM into my wife's phone (which is unlocked) and it works fine.
So bottom line, I used an unlock code which apparently worked (got the message "network unlock successful") but the phone does not appear to be unlocked.
I will definitely try a T-mobile SIM as soon as I find one, but in the meantime which is that "secret code" to check network status for this phone?
*#7465625# does not work and returns "connection problem or invalid MMI code"
Thank you
anybody has the answer to my question ?
"secret" code for Galaxy S4 to check Network lock status
thank you

I know this issue has been spoken of in other posts, but nothing exactly like the issue I am having and all I have read are not with the s4
I am on factory stock Rogers firmware. I337MVLUAMG1 unrooted. "Not registered on network" is keeping me from doing anything. I can access wifi and all my APN settings are correct. Nothing in my phone looks wrong or out of place.
I have tried 2 new sim cards and that certainly isnt the issue.
My imei and serial are reporting a.ok
Phone was unlocked from rogers and previously being used with bell all with no problems.
I did try some custom roms before heading back to this and thinking perhaps something got screwed up. I inserted my sim after installing omega rom v11 and it has not worked. that was the first time I even tried a sim in the phone. So it has never worked since I got it. Which sucks because I don't know if it was something I did or something that was already in place.
I have done a factory reset with data from settings in the phone and also from stock recovery.
I have removed the battery, sim and restarted. Doesn't help.
Phone says "not registered on network" when trying to make calls and says unregistered sim card when dropping down notification bar.
Any ideas? Help? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Edit: Ok, after some heaving reading I think the issue lays with the update to Omega v11. I think it changed the efs file structure to a new format and I need to use a newer modem to access it the new format properly.
Can anyone please let me know an mg4 or acceptable modem that would allow me to test this theory and if I can just flash the modem with the stock firmware.
Once again its an i337m currently running rogers I337MVLUAMG1. IMEI + serial working fine but no network access. Looking for a modem that will work with this setup to see if I can access a modified efs folder.
Information of modified efs was read here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731

Hey Guys,
I have a question i keep getting this error on my phone
Code:
sim card not recognized ,please insert sim card
while the sim card is inside just received it from the US/Verizon about to use it for IAM GSM Morocco , i know verizon use CDMA and also know that the phone is unlocked but i can't seem to get my sim cards recognized i tried 2 micro sim from IAM, and the option to check GSM instead of global or CMDA i cant i get blocked by the same error i rebooted the phone no changes
Ok when I got my Droid M I got the exact same message. I assume you're on the stock rom. Even though I got this message, I still managed to get access to my local Network because the Droid M does not disable GSM if youre outside the U.S.A.
You're in Morocco so you shouldn't have any problems getting GSM network to work. Try another sim. The message you are getting is easily disabled using Titanium Backup. I'll post it up once I find it, I haven't had to do it for a long time.

I did try another sim card that works in another phone i get the same error i cant even select GSM in the setting its always in Global

Hi.
I bought a locked s8+ from Telcel México. I want it to use it on Att, I have the unlock aim code. The problem is when I instert the att sim I got a message "SIM network PIN blocked. Enter Sim network PUK." and a small lock blue icon. But I can't write anything, there is no keyboard option or anything. Any help? Thanks!
Have you tried another SIM card? Maybe read this: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1000485

I just unlocked my phone this weekend. A number pad should have appeared. If you didn't turn off the phone to change the SIM try restarting. If that doesn't work try a different card.

Tried 2 different cards and had the same screen.
Now I flashed a new rom, that screen disappeared but now when I insert a new sim car got a new screen and now I can write the numbers. The problem is that I don't have the PUK code, I think that I need an unfreeze code, anyone knows how can i get that code? Or how can i unlock my phone?
Thank you!
Same **** with mine.

You need the PUK code for the new sim card - most print this on the card that you popped the sim out of. If you don't have the original outer card, then call the carrier for the NEW sim card you are trying to use and they should be able to help you.
