[Q] Android Lying down with Red Triangle and Exclamation - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I am having issues with my S4 overheating when charging overnight. The lock screen is displayed and there are thin white vertical lines on the right side. I also see a couple of dots, like the ones used to indicate which home screen you are on, flashing along with the padlock. After toggling the screen off and on, they go away. I want to exchange my phone but here is the reason for my post.
I rooted using motochopper and installed TWRP. I have run triangle away (don't know if it works on the sprint version) and installed the stock ROM via Odin to unroot.
When I boot to stock recovery I have the Android on his back with his chest open and the red triangle with the exclamation. I just want to know if I anyone thinks I will have any issues when attempting to exchange this device. Should I/can I do anything else to it to get rid of it?

you're good to go. That's what the stock recovery looks like. Android with the red triangle. Go get your new one

as long as you go into settings, under about device, status, at the bottom it says device status official, then you have nothing to worry about. Even if they did somehow find something, what you described is a hardware issue

Got my new phone. Didn't get any hassle. New phone seems to be working fine. I received it with the older firmware so I was able to root it easily and restore my nandroid backup. Flawless Victory. :victory:
Thanks everyone!

I used to work for Sprint. When someone came in with any issues, we were encouraged to do whatever it took to make the situation right (IE, replacing phones) if you do however go in again for a replacement, they will ship you a insurance replacement, which is still a working phone, but they were often refurbished. Which, in my opinion anyway, is better than a nonworking phone than no phone at all.
just some helpful advice
happy rooting!

Phone - I400 (Continuum)
So I turned my phone on and it got stuck in a boot up, samsung logo then the verizon would come up and the phone would get stuck there. After i went through the typical remove battery, wait a while turn on again, I still couldnt get it to load. On my last attempt at this instead of any logos, I got a completely white screen with a black bar. I had done no flashing prior to this point. All that will load is the android digging screen. It is detected by odin but nothing will work on it. I have a picture that I will load up when I get back home.
If you have any ideas how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have not flashed the phone, I would call Verizon and have them send out a replacement. My very first Continuum did that to me. After I received the replacement, I started flashing it, and haven't had issues with flashing. I have had a total of 4 Continuums. The first one did something like yours. The next two have/had critical memory errors, and this one has a broken camera. I think I am getting lemons... But, when you get refurbished items, one never knows what to expect...

[Q] Yellow Triangle for a while and then boots normally

My kindle fire is working fine. I have rooted it and installed the CWM 5.0.2.7 beta 2. I have frozen a few APKs with TiBU and don't seem to have any problems with that.
After I rooted and put the CWM on, when I reboot I get the yellow triangle for a little while. Eventually it goes away and the OS finishes loading. Root works fine. CWM 5.0.2.7 works fine. I don't understand why it is showing a yellow triangle.
Has anyone else seen this and corrected it? If not or if you need more information, I'll try to pull the logcat. I was hoping this might be a known issue that I should either live with it or should do something specific to fix it. I did search the forums for "yellow triangle" but it looks like most people are bricked when they get that. Mine happens during bootup and goes away.

The yellow triangle is not bad. It is the FIREFIREFIRE bootloader. It just gives you easy access to recovery. No need to worry.

If something go wrong that yellow triangle will be useful.
Thank you both for the replies. I'm glad it doesn't mean something is wrong. Is it possible to display a custom logo or anything?
(I don't want to change the functionality, just would like something a little nicer than a big yellow warning sign ;?)
Yeah, I'm spoiled rotten with my phones, my old tablet, and other devices that all had nice looking boot-ups. No biggie.

GT-i9505 Blank Screen Problem

Hi guys. My almost brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 has just stopped working.
I was doing homework and one of my friends text me I look at the text and lock my phone screen and that was the last time I saw my screen working properly.
I later tried to turn on the screen but I had no luck, the screen wouldn't show anything, it was just blank but surprisingly it recognised my touch and made the sound. I could unlock my phone and even turn on apps by guessing where I kept them. I could turn on music and it would work but the screen would remain completely blank.
My phone was rooted and it had the stock rom but it had a custom kernel which enabled over clocking to 2.3 ghz (Ktweakers kernel I think) but the limit was set to 1.89 so I don't that that was the cause.
When I restart my phone the screen where it says "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505", I think its called the splash screen? I'm not sure, anyways instead of it being black with white writing, its really weird and is bright white with very light white writing. This is the only time the screen actually works, and the other time it works is when you try to put it into download mode but both times the screen is bright white and everything is very light and faded. After the "GT-I9505" screen goes away the screen goes black the blue LED still flashes and you can hear the samsung boot sound and the phone boots up properly without the screen.
What could be the cause of all this? I have literally kept this phone on top of my head. I have done nothing to harm it in any way what so ever. I have never dropped it. From day one I had a thick case incase I bumped it and damaged it. Anyone else having this problem? Or am I the only one? Do you guys think I'll be able to fix this or will I have to take it back to the store?
Thank you!

Thank you for replying! I had cwm recovery installed but I reverted back to stock mod through odin. Now I am trying to wipe cache through stock recovery but the problem is that I can't see anything that I am doing. I am relying on pictures of the stock recovery. I know that my phone goes into recovery mode but it does not show anything on the screen. I am assuming I get stuck on the part where there are lots of no's and one yes.
Would It be possible if you could post a picture of that (The screen with all the no's and the one yes) because maybe then I can wipe the cache.
And I am already downloading the stock firmware, but it is taking forever because if the extremely slow internet. But the thing is that I don't see any logos, it boots fine but it doesn't show anything on the display. But I also know that the display is working because it still shows the "GT-I9505" screen. I'll post my progress here.

Okay so I downloaded the stock rom and flashed it with odin and it basically did nothing. Rather before flashing the stock rom, the splash screen would show (the screen that says "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505") but now it does not show anything. It turns on normally like it should, it makes the boot sound but does not show anything on the screen. If you have the lights turned off, you can see a flicker when it turns on and thats the only time the screen actually lights up. What do you think I should do? I still think it might be a software issue. Also I don't think I have warranty because I have flashed my phone a few times. Its still very upsetting that this has happened because honestly I haven't done anything to this phone.

I don't think it does. Because before flashing stock rom, the splash screen would show and it had no cracks. So no actual damage, I still think it is a software issue but I don't know how to fix it :/ I still can't decide if I should take it to Samsung (which will take like a few months) or I can take it to a local repair shop and they can look at it which shouldn't take more than a week.

Repairing it doesn't take very long, taking it to the repair centre will take time. I bought my phone from Singapore and I have to take it there if I want to get it repaired. I took it to the Samsung repair centre in Bangladesh, they said they can't repair my model because they don't support it here :/

My Samsung galaxy s4 i9505 screen is dead--
I woke up this morning and my phone is still charging... But I cannot see my any data in the screen.. But my phone is still working.. I can receive phone call with my headset.. I cannot see anything in my screen.. It gone black.. Can anybody help me to fix this.. Or is this a firmware issue.. My phone has been rooted and installed official android 4.3 jellybean. Please help!!!
Just today I spend the same, except that the screen starts flashing, and at times the picture and the picture looked twice was very unstable, it restarts, and for the image of the i9505 without problem.
He ruled out a physical problem as it starts each. Device failure begins after displaying the Device Model
.
The touch and other features of the device, work perfectly. Try booting in recovery mode and I could not look very bad image.
In trying to backup my data with titanium to try to do a factory reset, began to regain normalcy. And right there my device works perfectly.
Bring 7 hours working normally my device. But I have fear of failing again. And now looking for information about possible solution. No warranty now.
What do you recommend? It's failure is becoming common. My device is doomed to die without remedy? Thank you very much for your answers in advance. Use translator apologies. Speak Spanish

Hello Guys, this issues is very common when you rooted the device and install Wanam Xposed.
You can try flash a stock Rom and stock Kernel with odin, try to swipe cache and dalvin using ADB.
Good Luck!

Help! Phone is on but have a blank screen

Okay guys I need a little help here. I rooted my phone back in April or so when all of the OTA update stuff was going down. I didn't want to update to Kit Kat and was tired of the constant OTA reminders, so I rooted. I used Kingo and everything went fine and has been fine ever since. Over the past week or so I have been noticing my phone running very hot and draining the battery. Hot to the touch on the top half of the display and on the back near the camera. I've just been running 4.3 that came on the phone and happy with that. My problem is, my phone fell from the arm of the chair onto a concrete floor, about 2 feet and now the display is blank. The phone is on and can be rebooted with a boot chime by pulling the battery. I'd like to take it to Verizon and get it replaced. I'm still within my one year warranty but I don't want to be charged $700 whenever there technicians get it going again and notice the word CUSTOM during boot. KNOX is not tripped. Will I be charged? does that void my warranty? The new phone will probably have KIT KAT but at least it will work.

The phone will be wiped by them during the repair process so it is highly unlikely that they will ever know that it is rooted.

Thanks for the input Airmaxx!
The weirdest thing, it's working again! I tried a few more attempts to boot normally with no success. I tried booting into recovery and bam it came up to the recovery screen just fine. (I thought I had tried that yesterday but actually I has holding volume down instead of volume up) Anyway, she's back up and running! It's still running hot though.... I'm wondering if somethings running in the background I'm not a where of?? I did find Google photo synch turned on, which I know I had it turned off before? I'm thinking on doing a fresh restart but hate having to reload all the apps? I'll just monitor it for a few days!

Try holding Power first then Volume, I can't get recovery to boot up if I press Volume first.

Motorola Droid RAZR/Cyanogen mod problem?

I've had this Motorola Droid RAZR for like two years now and a friend of mine took it and worked on it, adding something called "Cyanogen Mod" and he 'rooted' it I believe? Ever since, phone has worked great. However, today I tapped the home button and the whole screen had a weird visual glitch where the wallpaper was entirely intact but the icons and such were only half appearing, like someone scratched them out with fingernails or something. It would go away and come back so I got frustrated and rebooted my phone. It starts up normally and goes to this screen where you can do different stuff with Cyanogen mod (like changing the rom? or changing boot options) and usually I just continue past that because for 1) I know nothing about it and 2) It always was fine. But when it did the typical boot up, it just skipped back to the first screen you get when you turn the phone on and repeats. It never goes to the second part of the Cyanogen Mod where the words appear and the little thing spins, it simply skips back to the screen you get when you power up and repeats. It keeps doing this and I looked online how to fix it, tried about twelve different things (like restoring different aspects and using different roms or making new roms) and it just didn't work. Eventually it got bugged out where the screen was just black, couldn't get it to do anything but reboot and go back to black. I let it sit until the battery ran dry I believe and now I'm at a brick wall.
Is there a way I can totally just revamp and start fresh? Like remove all of it and reinstall Cyanogen mod/the OS and all that jazz? I don't mind losing everything if I can just keep the phone, I don't pay for a cellphone and I don't want one I just use the droid for texting apps/games/reddit/etc. If anyone could help me save this thing I'd appreciate it.

How would I know if I had it installed? I remember when I booted up the phone something came on with a picture of a little robot that said "Safestrap Enabled" and then when I had this problem it was saying "Safestrap Disabled". I can't get the phone to turn on right now though, is there a way I can check what version I have another way?
Ah. I see. First. try entering Safestrap menu upon rebooting, instead of allowing it to boot normally, and look at ROM slot and see if custom OS' ROM slot is active. If it's there and is not active try reactivate it. If it won't budge, get microSD card and find XT910 (RAZR - spyder) CM 11. If you don't know what to pick, I will look in a bit.

Just tried booting it up, nothing is working I think the phone is dead. I plug it into the charger and only the notification light on the top left goes on a blueish white and stays on as long as it is plugged into the charger. Nothing will turn on at all and the phone doesn't seem to respond to anything. Is my phone just dead..?
Soft bricked. Try pushing both volume down and up button while plugged into either computer or charger, and hold down power button until it boots. I hope you won't need to buy Motorola factory cable at this point.
Let your device charge for a few hours until it boots up. Then boot it into APfastboot and flash the stock firmware with RSDLite.

Edit: Just plugged it in like you said and instantly the boot screen came on rather than simply that silly light so I think my phone is improving but I still would like to entirely revamp it or redo it or whatever you wanna call it so that everything is fresh and new and my phone is okay.
Good. I think it could be because the battery died somehow. Good thing the protection mechanism on the bootloader didn't have the wild idea of disabling the phone.
