[Q] Google Wallet NFC brick still alive? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Just curious, and I apologize if there is another thread for this topic in the S4 forums (I searched), but does anyone know if it's possible to brick your nfc chip from a factory reset or ROM change (after setting up wallet) like it would with the EVO 4G LTE? Thanks!
PS. I am advising that anyone who wishes to use their NFC feature does not attempt to find out on their own!

I have never used wallet but I have factory reset and installed roms more times than I can remember with wallet installed. And my nfc and wallet are fine.

Currently I am having an issue with Wallet not liking my device because of root. I did a factory reset and wallet was fine, I did a Rom change and wallet was fine. Now I'm back to the stock rom with root and still having a small issue but the NFC works fine.

So in your case, nfc is working fine itself just not gWallet, and that is because of root you think? Have you disabled SEAndroid in TiBu?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app

I did disable SEAndroid with TI (freeze) but I found what I had to do was with the actual Wallet app. I still get the unsupported device on the app. I've been reading around XDA and it appears that I may need to download GWallet from here where some of the people have fixed the unsupported device thing because of root. I've been trying to figure out how they fixed it (without asking too many questions) before I download it just so I hopefully can start contributing instead of leeching.

Note 2 GPS Patch

Hello everyone, I've been looking on this forum for the past week trying to find the GPS patch for the Note 2, 4.3, CM10.2. It just keeps saying "Searching for GPS". I hate to ask a question that's been asked already but i'm unable to find a current fix for my phone. thanks in advance
Have you tried GPS Status - Test & Fix from Google Play?

Thank you for the responses. Unfortunately those methods didn't work. I was outside with the phone for over 30 minutes and the "Searching for GPS" continued to show. The dr. ketan download fix shows Note 2 7100, however mine is the sprint version sph-l900. Would this make a difference? Thank you

I got mine to work by installing a TW ROM first getting a lock and afterward install PA android 4.3. I hope this helps. Make sure you have a lock first while your trying to install PA 4.3.

I'm not familiar with a TW ROM or PA android 4.3. I'm assuming it replaces CM10.2 completely?

N7105 4.3 upgrade UK users

Has anyone updated to 4.3 official using any of the roms from sammobile? I see the nordic countries 4.3 is available, I normally use either this, the German or Swedish version, I've even used a Hong Kong one before now lol, but with the recent changes Sammy have made regarding knox and location lock etc, I'm a bit dubious to upgrade.
They normally just work, just checking this is still the case before I end up with an expensive paperweight.
There is a thread somewhere by chainfire with a fix to sammys region lock. The lion rom is pretty much stock with nox removed, you just have to use devil's kernel for wifi

Cheers mate. I flashed it the other day haven't got around to posting an update yet.
Yes it has knox, but I'm not going to be rooting this device because I use it for sky and a few other apps that require unrooted.
Impressions are good so far. Everything is smooth and all my apps are working as they were before, including the sky sports app which got an update recently to work with 4.3.
One thing to note though, if you use allshare cast dongle. It has a problem working with 4.3 devices that have been updated. So if you run into this issue the fix is to do a factory reset.
There is a workaround for rooted devices on here, it's in the S4 section.
A bit of a pain having to reset I know but seems to be the only solution for unrooted devices that run into it.

Hi mate
I'm also using the sky go app, and on stock 4.1 I've just been using ota rootkeeper to toggle root when needed. I really need root for the viper audio mod.
I'm just wondering which 4.3 ROM you've got it to work on? With 4.1.2 it NEEDS to be stock ROM and kernel for sky go to work. If I upgrade I want to get a ROM without knox, but any custom ROM won't work.
Please let me know as right I'm sticking to 4.1.2.
Thanks

There weren't any custom rom's available for the 7105 that were stock with knox/location lock removed when I last checked (may be different now?). I just used the nordic rom from sammobile.
If there's none available I think you'll need to wait for a dev to rip the rom and remove knox if you don't want it. Unless you have the time and skills to diy I got the skills but not the time, unfortunately
As I said, I'm not bothered about knox at the moment. I was more bothered by location lock, but I've not had any issue so far.

Why not just flash the bootloader from DN3 it works with all the official roms and is knox free?

Yeah I will probably do that at some point.
I'm assuming I can restore my nandroid backup to 4.1.2 if I'm not happy?
The xposed mod unfortunately didn't work... Thanks anyway
Some apps are funny as to what they decide is a security risk. Sky are so far up Apple's arse they tend to look for anything that's NOT as the manufacturer released as a security issue. It's actually bollocks but try telling them that.
My other Note 2 is rooted and running 4.3 without all the bs. But most of the apps I need simply won't install/run due to idiotic requirements of the app provider. Hence why I have a 2nd note 2 which has been rooted but I had to unroot and reset the flash counter to get these apps to work. Guess Sammy aren't too fussed, they did get 2 sales from me lol

[Q] Is it possible to unroot CM11?

I would like to install CM11 but then unroot after I have it... but keep the functionality of CM11. Is this possible? I know someone is going to ask why.... so I will let you know... it is so that I can also attach to work via mobile iron (which prevents access if it detects root).
So... is this possible?
Never really tried that?? In TW you could just use supersu to unroot and (obviously) lose access to apps that require it. In AOSP the Superuser has a spot to disable it.......
that may work if its not active?
no idea just my 2 cents
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Dont think you'll be able to since su is baked in! Even if you disable it I'm pretty sure root will be detected! I tried this with a direct TV app that would DL from my DVR to my phone and no matter what I tried it detected root! And even going to a tw ROM and unrooting it still detected the custom status iny phone! And that's a little direct TV app!

[Q] Isis Wallet no longer works after KitKat 4.4.2

I just upgraded my Verizon Note 3 from Android 4.3 MJE to Android 4.4 NC2 and I am no longer to use ISIS Mobile Payment.
Root Cloak is activated and properly cloaking ISIS and other apps.
When trying to activate ISIS, I get the error message that this device is not supported.
Has anyone else experienced this error? Does any one have a work around?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
You have to do some build prop edits to get it properly working. I have it working on my note 3 with kk

After changing my build.prop file to the Android settings for 4.3, I was able to activate ISIS Wallet successfully. I was then able to restore my build.prop to the KitKat firmware build IDs.
Is there a fix if I went from 4.3 to the leaked 4.4.2 using Odin on my non-rooted Verizon Note 3? I've been using ISIS fine on 4.3, but now ISIS says my phone is not supported.

The only way you could get Isis to work in the scenario is by restoring a backup from Isis that was made on 4.3. Im not syre if you can without root though.

S pen

I recently rooted my note 3 with the towelroot method and installed exposed framework and just a couple of modules. Today I went to use my pen and it made its noise coming out and brought up the menu on the screen but we'll not do anything beyond that. I've checked all the setting and they seem to be correct and none of the modules I've unstapled has anything to do with the pen that I know of. Anybody have any suggestions. Could it have been the root process or just me over looking something. Thanks for any help. Jesse

What do you mean by "modules I've unstapled"? Uninstalled? If the pen worked fine before rooting, then I'd go back to stock and start over again step by step. Stock - check, root - check, module uninstall - check...
uninstalled is what I meant. I ended up factory resetting and going through the root process first before reloading all the apps and it's working as it should now. Not sure what caused it and don't really care now that it's working again. Thanks anyway and I will try to work on my spelling some. Jesse
