Do you mean when you receive SMS/emails?
Messaging>menu button
I'm pretty sure there are options to tick so you can be notified on the statusbar for any received messages
And as for the emails and etc.. Go to settings
*i cannot pinpoint you to the right sections now coz I'm running on CM10.1

Hi guys
Just asking why is it that in my message threads why my new unread messages are showing before my last sent message
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Propably so you should quickly see your unread messages?
No but the thread is not in order at all, been happening since i got the phone
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
The thread is set to your phones time, make sure you have the time set right, and havent been changing it.
The timing on it is fine not changed it at all. Hmm its strange

Hi!
Then check the date mate... The only reason for that to happen is that the messages that u send are stored based on ur cell phones time and the messages u receive come with the network time! Just check the date and time properly!
Time and date settings are all fine.

I'm using GO SMS and I've got a problem where I get multiple threads opening for the same person. Basically every time they send me a new message it starts a new thread. So by the time I'm done having a short conversation I have about 20 new threads from the same person. Were both using GO and I'm not sure if there's a problem on his side of things or mine. Has anyone had this problem or can help me out?
I also use go sms and haven't had a problem. Have you tried uninstall/ reinstall?

What do I need to enable to stop the 4.2 update constantly asking me to upgrade now or later? Usually you can just have the option to skip it no?
I know my phone won't ask unless I search under software updates.
This one pops up on the constant and happy with 4.1.2. Not feeling the terrible reviews on 4.2 so just want to skip it for now or till a more stable one comes out.
appreciate any help.

[INFO] Stop OTA update nagging

The suggestions in the reply above are the best but they all require a rooted Nexus. Until you root your tablet try on Google Services Framework in Settings - Apps - All column:
1. Disable Notifications - fewer update reminders.
2. Clear Data - forgets an update is ready but may just re-download one.
3. Disable GSF - stops reminders but breaks Google Play Store and others.
I use number 3 as JB 4.1.2 works perfectly.
I have got similar prob but I am on 4.2. hoping this will work.

You can long press the notification and go to app info and uncheck the show notification box as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. Really don't understand why its setup this way. Wish it was like my S3.
Not really wanting to root this yet, but if the above don't work, may have too.

It's available on the backend, but you've got to actually run apps that support the new features (it's all part of GCM if you want to look it up, replacing C2DM). Even Google's offerings using GCM though (Hangouts, looking at you!) are really...weird about it.
For text messages try Mighty Text. Just install it on both your android phone and the nexus 7

I've found a great app for me. NotiSync. The only negative point is, that this app only uses bluetooth. But its great, that i can configure custom apps
If someone have a similar app but per wifi, pls talk to me

Agree, Mightytext developer's really made my day a lot easier! Getting notified of SMS, MMS & calls that's incoming. Sure lot's of Apps gives the simular functions, but the great thing about MT is that you could have a tab running in your browser and get notified on the computer also, and that you can answer/create msg directly from N7 or webbrowser. Smooth is that it runs on your 3G/4G, so you'll not have to use bluetooth or wifi and flipping it on and off etc. Sure if you wanna use the wifi @ home on your phone, MT will of course use that route. Probably the most beloved product for me, because having long conversation over SMS is just dumb. When you have a keyboard that makes me input data that much faster, but not everyone is thinking like me Glad that's not the case though! hehe..
Best regards,
H.

Tablet Talk app, plus a bluetooth headset and you can make calls from n7 as well as text.

Had anyone had an issue where the N4 just won't give notifications for most apps? The notifications work for SMS and Gmail buy that's about it...
It doesn't matter of I'm on cellular data out Wi-Fi, and am running CM 10.1.0 Stable. Anyone know a solution or a reason for this?
Greatly appreciated

No haven't heard of that or know of a solution.
But as a member of 3 yrs you ought to know that questions go in the Q&A section. Please post your threads there next time.

Have you restored the app data using any apps? If so clear the app data for those apps (like facebook, whatsapp, etc) and relogin.

As soon as I have less than 500MiB storage avaliable, my n4 begins to act funky, like dropping many notifications. Maybe that's what's happening to you?

Don't use TitaniumBackup to restore app data for apps that requires push notifications. I'd bet that if you clear the app data for all the apps that are suppose to give you notifications, your problem will be solved.
Going forward, try to only restore the apps themselves. Go ahead to restore data for stuff like games. But for apps like Facebook or instant messaging apps, just make the effort to enter your login details.
