It's shame that in gallery you still can't choose which folder to scan or exclude. So I see all my music cover pictures because I can't exclude music folder. So now there is a mess in gallery and is not really usable.
I use other app because of that but that is really shame from Samsung that he don't include that option. Would be a lot more useful that way.

So what's your question?
Is there something I missed, or it really can't be done?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
Create a new folder called '.nomedia' and put It inside the folder with your mp3 (music albums)
Restart your phone and check t gallery again.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
It has to be file. nomedia not folder. Did that before, delete data in gallery but was still there. Now I installed app rescan in everything is ok.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
If you touch and hold the folder until it is selected then you can press the menu button and choose hide folder and it won't show up in the gallery. Is that what you meant?

I have a similar problem as you do however my music app is not showing system files or ringtone files but rather game ogg files. I installed puzzle quest 2 and now all of its ogg audio files are showing up in the music app. They are located in this folder on the internal memory storage at Android/obb/com.NamcoNetworks.PuzzleQuest2Android/files/sounds/music and I was looking for a way to exclude the Android/obb folder all together from being scanned but I didn't see this as an option. I do play this game so I don't want to delete these files to clear them from the music player. I would be grateful if anyone can provide insight. This S4 is my first Android phone coming over from an iPhone so I am anxious to learn!

Seems like a nomedia file may be missing in those system folders, or whatever samsung uses to keep the video player or gallery from seeing system sounds/video.
Thank you Joeybear that did the trick for me! After a quick search on exclusionary files I found that adding an empty .nomedia file to each folder via ES File explorer cleared all unwanted files from the music player.:thumbup:

Created shortcuts on my home pages to folders of apps. If I add apps through the menu to the folder the folders on the home screen don't refresh to reflect this?

Sorry. Thats not how it works. Folders will work independently. If you want to add apps to home screen then tap and hold the app in the app drawer and the release on the home screen folder

Q. How do you get from the bottom of the APP Draw back to the top without having to scroll all the way up?
A. Just double tap the notification bar! that's it.
You only need to tap once
Also works for blinkfeed

You can also use the one i'm using from Playstore Called: Hide pictures - KeepSafe Vault
But isn't it stored in the phone memory? All my videos take up so much space...

Just put an empty file named .nomedia in a folder. No images in that folder will show up in gallery.

Try checking your Google+ album, because normally Google+ saves the pictures you send and receive.
Thats what i had done in the past and has worked for me.
Give it a try.
