How do I make my touchscreen work with a stylus like in this video?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEdLhRzGi-U
I've enabled the "high touch sensitivity" option, but it only seems to work with objects that are conductive (ie metal).
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Menu> Settings> Display> High touch sensitivity (all the way at the bottom) is the correct setting. And yes, this is a capacitive screen so it will require conductivity. If it was resistive you could use pressure from most objects.
Works for me with ski gloves and any metal object but not empty plastic, ceramic or wood. Basically, I was able to replicate the video exactly. The plastic bottle must have a liquid in it (yogurt, water, milk, soda, juice and even lotion all worked. Super Glue and White Out did not.)

You have crushed my dreams of using the back of my pen as a stylus...
Anyways, thanks for the explanation.

LOL, sorry dude. On a side note, I have one of those hard rubberized stylus things for the Nook and the back side works twice as good as the soft rubber tip. Nice clean lines and you can see clearly as you write.
I'm going to keep trying things and see what sort of free/cheap household items work best.

I am really enjoying my Aria. However, the back doesn't fit just right. It can flex back & forth. It just doesn't feel solid. I've owned HTC phones before & the build quality is usually tight. So, is this an issue w/my phone or is yours a bit 'squishy' too?
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Mine is slightly loose at the top and squeaks when moving it. Probably happened from sticking my nail in there so many times to remove the cover.
Mine too. This is a design flaw. Damn.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
it is a design flaw... I got 2 Arias and both are the same, once you remove the cover more than 1 time.. it will become that way... what I did was to put a little piece of paper on that corner and there is no play what so ever...

ya i've used that trick on every phone i've owned, works like a charm
Aha -- interesting! I never thought of a little paper shim. Thanks for the advice.
I was just wondering about this the other day. I guess I will try the paper trick.
I also have a squeaky back cover, as well as my volume up button being a little hard to press.. Where exactly would I put a little piece of paper?!
Thanks!

I wrapped the yellow edge inside the phone with scotch tape creating a very tight seal that is invisible

Interesting. Did you cover the bumps that hold the back cover on as well?

AHA, the little piece of paper on the corner did the trick, thanks for the tip!
I'm lucky I suppose. I've taken my back cover off dozens of times and there's no play at all.
My screen doesnt sit flush with the edges of the phone and I am wondering if this is a common trait of the phone.
At the top left of the screen it actually does sit flush. If I run my finger across the screen to the left and off the edge, I can't feel any edge.
Anywhere else on the screen, when I slide my finger across the screen and off the edge I can feel the lip of the edge .
Its as if either the top left of my screen is sitting out more than it should, or the rest of my screen is a bit too far in.
Is your screen flush with the edges?
Mine's recessed all the way around.

I have a tiny lip around the whole edge of the phone.
I got a lip on the right hand side of the phone. And no lip going round from the right side edge

the left side of my screen is flush, the right side has a lip. It bothers me sometimes.
I don't think screen is gonna fall out. It seems fitted tightly
I got a little groove on the screen at the bottom so I could pop screen put then pop it back in.
Don't think ill bother tho just in case lol

Mine is the same way. I considered returning it but decided against, since it was pretty minor and didn't affect functionality.
i've a gap on the right but nothing on the left, the "doubled" lip at the top and bottom bothers me a bit more i think

Guys, look at the casing. The screens the same height all around (and this is on purpose for reasons such as setting it face down on a table), but the casing is different. On the sides vs bottom.

That wouldnt explain there being an edge sticking out on the right side of the phone but not on the left side

Anyone have an tips for putting it on as I've had 0 luck with screen protectors in the past.
Cheers

And why is there 2 screen protectors one coloured round the edges and one just clear?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Crisis averted. Did the ole scotch tape trick to remove the dust particles. That should be in all screen protectors instructions as it works a treat.

Good luck
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
My general rules are (1) try to do it in a humid atmosphere, so there's less dust in the air, eg. a bathroom with a shower running, (2) to wash the back of the protector with water just before applying, and (3) try to fix errant dust motes with tape on the front to peel up a corner, and tape underneath to grab the dust, which it sounds like you've done. Personally I'm a big fan of the Brando ultra-clear protectors. Good luck!
I'm really loving the look of the phone with the colour change but the screen seems to have a kind of static look to it. Hopefully I'll get used to it as the phone looks great

I bought some SGP protectors for my S III. Well one of the kinds I bought was the ultra optics or whichever the the one that resists fingerprints is and it has almost like a texture on the screen which is kind of annoying to look at. I feel like it dulls the whole thing. I may take it off eventually and put the remaining ultra crystal I have from my i747
Really loving this screen protector.
The galaxy's s3 seems to me like it is very prone to scratches.
I always keep my phone in a pocket with nothing in it like keys or money yet I've got some pretty deep scratches on it.
I didnt get anywhere near as much with my s1, s2 or galaxy tab p1000.
Basically this screen is giving me protection and I'd even go as far as to say that it is making the scratches that I've acquired less noticeable.
Feels great too. I'm my opinion better that original screen and you have the added bonus of the anti fingerprint.
Defo recommend this

Plastic (white is way better ) but without screen protector I recommend black because it is rubber and wont scratch te screen
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
I don't have a screen protector so I'm using the black one.
I am using the white one with a screen protector.
im not using a screen protector...and i never changed the tip...which is the black one with a white base

Same here.
No screen protector (yet). I'm preferring the rubber (the black one). I like the slight grip effect it has.

I would if I were you.
I don't understand how a smooth rounded tip of plastic can scratch a smooth glass surface. I can easily understand the pen scarring or scratching a soft thin plastic screen protector though. IMO The only advantage of a screen protector is reduce glare and / or it is very cheap to replace if it gets scratched which is easier to scratch than glass.
What is the different on the tips. i didn't understand why there was so many tips with it

As someone nicely told me recently...the white ones are just hard plastic, while the black ones are rubbery.

It looks like there are two types, just multiple of these, incase they break or get dirty or something. I like the white ones for screen protector and the black ones when I don't have a screen protector on.

I think you haven't used a samsung note Before but this is the sad fact that the white tip (when wear happens in it) scratches the screen, but when new it won't

I have an Intuos 3 tablet and it comes with the same tips just a little larger and the different tips have a different feel when drawing. That is the main reson for the different tips. The tablet comes with a plastic sheet over the drawing surface that has some tooth on it to give the feel of paper and the nibs (pen tips) wear down with usage and wear the tooth off the covering sheet with use. On glass I doubt you will be able to wear the nibs (tips) down as they slide very easily across the glass.

I think you forget about dust!! Unless you live in a clean space, anyway search in any forum whatever it was note II or note one and you will find allot of forums that discusses how the pen scratches the screen

No I do not own a flex
Anyway when I put it screen down on a flat surface and touch the corners it starts rocking.
How to describe better.
One finger on left upper, one on the right down corner and touching once up once down. (Or the opposite corners, has to be diagonal)
If you have the same issue, your should feel it.
It does not distort the screen, but not sure it won't get worse in the future.
Anyone else encountered this?

I have this but it's because I manually replaced my screen and did not have something to put in so t wouldn't rock but since I use a case that covers the bezel it's not a problem

In my case it's the glass that's bent. Not like it's lifted, but deformed. Not sure how it really happened. Maybe the original quick window cover... or just having it in my pants

Maybe heat? or probably sat on it that made one side of the screen cave in? lol
Always have it in the front more like the heat... btw I would not even notice it.. just by accident I tapped one corner and it was not touching the table...
