So I was at my screen color earlier, and my fiance and I have the exact same phone and the same alarm application (Doubletwist alarm) and I noticed on her screen that it looks significantly more black than mine does (mine kind of looks almost dark gray). We are both using the adaptive screen mode (instead of color correcting manually). I also noticed her blues look a little more blue than mine as well. The only real difference between our phones is that I use the clear Ghost Armor screen protector and she does not have one at all. Any ideas?

If its the same phone and same features enabled on both phones its probably your screen protector.
Try taking it off and see if that helps, if it does I can recommend the Spigen GLAS.tR SLIM or the slightly cheaper Spigen GLAS.t SLIM
The strange part is, this protector is the clear version, I've never noticed any color difference since I got it a few days ago.
Let's say it is not the screen protector (for argument's sake). What other things could it be? Just looking at all options since taking the screen protector off means making a 20 mile drive

Im talking about when you pull down the notifications bar there are light lines that come down vertically and soma cases are horizontal.
Please let me know I got 30 days with it. thanks!

my first nexus s had darker whites than the display model at the store. I would recommend comparing yours with the store display or another persons nexus s, I think this is the best way, since we cant physically see how your phone screen looks. good luck
Are you referring to the gray section where your service provider is listed? Or the very dark area where the notifications are listed?
If I stare I can see some lines in the gray area.
I do see a slight grid pattern in the power control widget.
No I'm talking about grey section where your messages show up

I think its screen burn in already

I don't have a Nexus S, but I have a Galaxy S i9000M which has a similar (if not exactly the same) screen. If I bring up a screen that is a solid colour, I do notice some imperfections like you describe. They are hardly noticeable though.
Weird. My nexus doesn't have that and I would know, I modded my nexus 1 to be pretty much like gingerbread 6 months back, massive burn in.

actually no.... mine doesn't have any lines or defects.
the only lines are the horizontal ones separating the notifications.
I think I know what you mean. My N1 on certain backgrounds has very faint grey lines. Not always visible, even on white web pages

Why would that cause burn in more than anything else?
I don't know but I don't want it to get worse over time

Yes, I can see it. I can see it on any AMOLED/SAMOLED phone I've ever come in contact with. It's the nature of AMOLED screens unlike most LCD screens. With AMOLED, each pixel is individually powered, and it's impossible to have each pixel (or subpixel) be identical, which leads to slight differences in output and color reproduction. An LCD screen is backlight by either florescent tubes or recently, LEDs, which produce an even backlight (usually) where the colors are controlled by filtering each pixel, rather than having to illuminate each pixel.
Anyway, I only really notice it when the brightness is at the minimum and it's very dark in the place I'm using my phone. If I crank up the brightness or if I'm in a well lit area, I don't notice it at all really. Although if it's VERY obvious, you might have a screen that's significantly lower quality than average... it happens, bad QC or something, exchange it.
Oh, and if you stare at a plasma TV long enough you'll notice the same thing... similar technology, each pixel illuminated individually.
Hi there,
I was looking at my phone the other day. Whenever the LCD displays black, i can see around 12-13 little colour spots on my screen. I was thinking LCD burn in or something but my screen hasn't been on for long periods of time displaying the same thing. The spots are VERY faint, It's hard getting a picture of them. Any threat? Could it grow and spread to other parts of the screen possibly?
Cheers
Dial *#*#3424#*#* and check the display test. It could be dead (sub)pixels of a certain colour.

Cheers mate. I'll try that now.

Okay, from what it seems in the display test, there is no permanent problem with my screen. On the black slide the screen has no issues. Thanks a lot for the help.

EDIT: Having a closer look it turns out them colour spots are still there. Most likely be a replacement for me. Cheers.
I thought I had a similar issue. After closer inspection it looks like 2 of those 'touch points' (Can I call it that? I'm referring to those dots that make up a matrix that is present on the screen itself, best viewed at certain angles when the screen is black)
Well it looks like 2 of those points are overly glossy, like an over active pixel. Seems most noticeable on a white background. Anyway to sort that out?
Well, I called HTC. They aren't aware of anything like this being 'normal' so I presume its a faulty screen. Mines getting picked up by HTC on the 4th for a repair/replacement. I would rather do without the hassle but I just don't want it to worsen.

I was wondering if anyone else was seeing blank splotches on their screen when u view ur gs3 in a dark room with a black background (used a screen test app)? I read that it was normal for amoled screens to have this
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
YES. What the hell are those? I'm in a dark basement with the brightness all the way down an can see black spots in several parts of the screen when viewing on a dark background. This isn't normal, right?
There are other threads about this... and yes they are normal on amoled screens. I found mine yesterday i have a few small ones and one the size of pencil eraser. Just get use to it. The odds of you getting a replacement without any is very slim.
Yeah I just read other threads about it. It's only visible in specific conditions so 99% of the time I won't even notice them.
So that's an actual part of the screen? I always assumed that was some internal part that was somehow inexplicably noticable when the screen was dark. I have one about 60% down from the top of the screen. Weird, but it's not a big deal really.

It might be an ink blob or glue.
I found a few small ones yesterday. Not a big deal as I wouldn't have noticed it if I weren't looking for then in the dark. I'm definitely not returning it for something I'll most likely never notice again.
I have a relatively new (1w) sgs3 and have notice that in the dark room when screen has a darkish grey too off-black background solid colour (even on the stock notification background) and with tge brightness on lowest setting, then there many blob marks in the screen.
I ran a pixel checker which is fine but this appears like a defect in the glass itself. I'm not using a screen protector yet.
Can anyone else notice these blobs, some of which are as big as 3-4mm diameters?

Its completely normal on Super Amoled screens. I have them but it doesn't bother me since it only occurs on black screens. FYI, there was already a lot of topics about this already...

Haven't seen it on the SIII, but on the SII I have, this would happen with screen filter on lower brightness. I think that it has something to do with the level at which the pixels fire optimally. If they are under fed, essentially, the inherent flaws in the screen matrix (as in any manufactured item) become visible where they otherwise wouldn't.
I know this has been beaten to death, but it varies from phone to phone. My i9300 had a lot of blobs. My second one only really has one noticeable one. My i747 is almost perfect. It has little dots, but they are spread out and pretty much near the border of the screen. I wish it would have been the other way around...
please search before posting this topic has been discussed in great detail in another thread.
common on super amoled hd panels.
Same issue too. Checked with Samsung and they said it's common for the screen. Only occurs in black pictures low back light and dark room and it doesn't bother me

I noticed a strange pattern of squares all over the screen..they are rather Invisible until you look at it under some light already certain angle. I tried my best to take a picture but it's hard to see if you're not looking from human eyes. Either way I don't know if this is part of the design or is it some type of weird defect. I attach some pictures check it out. Look near the light glare and you will see the little square patterns they are all over the screen I tried to capture it as well as I could.

OMG got the same "problem"! Duno if this is normal or not... But now its night and im writing from my n7 and i see this little dots that are in this weird pattern. Got my n7 today.
Its the touch screen digitizer... every nexus 7 has this square pattern.
there's already a thread about it somewhere around here.

I searched pretty well on Google but I guess I wasn't wording it correctly going to grab my buddies Nexus and compare it a little later today but good to know that this isn't a defect

I have that circle to... My colleague has one to, also with that circle... Seems common..
Doesn't bother me anymore after I put on a nice screenprotector.
My new one (after in store exchange) have no screen marks or any other "weird" parts...
