It might, but I wouldn't dare to try as there might be more differences then you think.

Both i9502 and i9500 have the same Samsung apps and features. What is missing are the google apps which are replaced by China Unicom apps.
I followed the Wonted:Samsung S4 Duos I9502 Root+cooked rom thread to root the i9502. Please make sure you go through the whole thread as there are some concerns which were resolved in the later pages.
After rooting, I downloaded and installed Google Apps.
Now I have Samsung + Google + China Unicom apps in my i9502. Talk about bloatware !

hi there, i am awaiting my phone, and am doing some prior research.
Are you saying you manage to root successfully with that thread? I read through and it seems like there are some stability issues.
Is it just using Odin, rooting with cwm-recovery.tar.md5 and csc-root.tar.md5, and its considered root?>
Thereafter using your link to download Google APps (Playstore?) and everything function as per normal?
Thanks

btw, i can't seem to download the google apps. keeps looping back to same page. is there a seperate source?
Thanks!

After odin with i9502-cwm-recovery.tar.md5 and i9502-csc-root.tar.md5, I have problem with root.
Root was finally achieved by installing UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.30.zip in CWM.
The latest GApps for 4.2.2 at this moment is gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip.
Hope that helps.
Bear in mind that some of us are still getting some issue on every reboot...Android is upgrading...optimizing app X of Y...and others.
Hi chchong,
what does the SuperSU do?
How do I install the gapps? Just copy and run it?
Just got mine today, and attempting it

SuperSu is the program that gives you root access.
Please do a backup of nandroid backup (to the external sdcard) before you continue to install GApps.
Use CWM to install GApps.
If you encounter issues like me, try to do a factory reset.

Just search for Google play store apk and install it.
Make sure in security you allow unknown sources.

The google play store apk won't just install like most apps, it will just crash or stop working, this problem has been mention in other threads for other samsung phones from china and since this forum is international and most users are using the US, UK or international version phone, a custom rom may be hard to get by, you will get a better chance by searching through some of the chinese community forum.
good luck.
Hey, I'm thinking about buying the G9006v too. Will I be able to root and install a custom firmware?
I saw another post where someone who had a G900i was able to install g900f firmware. I am unclear as to the G900 versions and their compatabilities with other versions' roms

from what i found there is already a root for g9006v, in the chinese forum my chinese is kinda bad so couldnt much of it. I can give u the links if u want.
To anyone who is curious about checking out a Chinese forum for this phone:
http://bbs.gfan.com/forum-1443-1.html
You're required to register to see pictures and post replies to see links. Most of the ROOT methods look pretty much the same as what is going on here so far, so I guess they all trip knox. (I haven't figured out how important or unimportant that is ...)
I tried the following post:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
and was able to use Odin to flash CWM and then get SuperSU. SuperSu said it disabled Knox, but when I checked (Vol-+Home+Pwr) knox has been tripped. Oh well.
I also got really thrown off by one part of the above instructions, to enter CWM after you flash it with Odin you need to press Vol++Home+Pwr not volume down.

Hello everyone,
I finally rooted my Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 and I'm really enjoying the benefits of a rooted phone.
So far so good. I have just one Problem: I seem to not be able to install .apk files I downloaded from the internet even tough I allowed the installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store in the settings menu. You can see it here.
I didn't change a thing after rooting and I had no problems before the root. I also rebooted a couple of times already.
To root my Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 I used the Auto-Root method from Chainfire (awesome guy! :good: ) that can be found here. My Adroid version ist 4.4.2.
I am really thankful for all your help. I appreciate it!
Sincerely Nero
Didn't do anything but it seems to be working again.

I am looking for custom roms for the SM-N9108v which is similar to the N9109,N9100, N9106 models. All of which are Chinese variants.
Has anyone here enough Chinese language skill to have had much success finding RoMs that might be suitable?
Thanks in advance.

I skim over 52Samsung.com quite often as there's lots of work going on over there. However, you donate to become a member (which gives access to download links) so even if there was something available I'd only be able to link to something you can't get, unless you're in China and have also donated.

I take it you're in China since you're asking about the specific China Mobile carrier locked, single SIM model number.
Most obvious place to go is your local China Mobile store. Or jd.com and Amazon.cn also have them. Should be ¥5,199 more or less.
You don't need a custom ROM with Play Store pre-installed. Just use the root guides on here and flash Gapps yourself - it's pretty simple. And I hope you have a VPN!

1. Kinghu, thank you for the link. I will look into it and donations for it when work slows down a bit. Right now, I'm semi/happily making do with the Apex launcher for the next week, but I am itching to trial a custom RoM. I envy multi lingual users a bit. Must be great feeling to have access to the Chinese sites and to know which you can trust.
2. I know that I'll be staying China Mobile for at least a year - hence I selected N9108v - it is good advice that people make certain to get the right one. I am now using 4G for the first time after not having it on my HK purchased N9005.
3. Any more sites I can investigate - particularly like the MUIU RoM for Note3.
Cheers.
I think it'll be a while before full custom ROMs like MIUI appear just because the phone is so new.
My last Note was the dual SIM Note 2 (7102) and there were only really modded TouchWiz (stock) ROMs. Some were quite left-field!
Might be different though if you've a single SIM phone. I guess we all just wait and see.

Waouh ! The 32go variant
Same specs as N9100 except rom space
No need custom rom.
Option 1
You could try flashing N9100 HK variant via Odin. It has Google play
Please backup before (in case of problem you can roll back to your original rom)
Be aware : it could break your device
Option 2
install custom recovery (cwmr or twpr) then flash latest gapps package (search in xda)
Root is not needed for having play store

Yeah I have tried the gapps several times. I have twpr on it now. I am building a android test bed for working on roms. Good to know about it being the same as the n9100. I will see what I come up with. Another thing that is wierd is it will not update so when they finally release the andriod 5 for it I will have to do something. From what I saw the other day it has already bean leaked.

Hey, just wanted to say, I have the SM-N9108v. I rooted using Chainfire's CF-Auto root, worked great. Installed CWM recovery, worked great. I use X-note rom and it's great but for a few minor glitches. About to redo the entire thing using TWRP recovery and try another rom. The only thing you have to watch out for is the radio. China Mobile 4G LTE is a propietary frequency and if your radio changes you won't be able to use the 4G signal. China Unicomm uses the same regular frequencies as some north american carriers.
Just passing on what I've found out through trial and error.

What firmware version you have, are you root, when did it start it, after installation of an app, when using an app???
you can always do a factory reset or re flash rom

The phone is not rooted and stock. I have already done a factory reset but the problem is not solved
The baseband version is I9505XXUFNC4 android version 4.4.2
This most can happen when the phone must unlock with the lockscreen. Sometimes when she use a app, can be every app she use like facebook, twitter, browsing etc.

Hi ,
i think you can do it without the need of being root
When the christmas days are finished I go try this.
Yesterday we are in the samsung store and the have flash a new firmware. They have format the phone.
This morning the phone freez again. I have at this moment only the samsung launcher with some apps.
I think we go next week again to the store.
Hi everyone,
Today I am posting this thread because of some idiots who are now sharing pre-rooted firmwares for SM-G361F that are full of bloats.
I am sick of that, this is why I upload the archive of the first pre-rooted firmware I got that was at least clean.
You can download it here: https://mega.nz/#!oqpRhZJZ!B18uTiB3TH-QfChoqjgWCNmaPjqInPZbFyI4u9-T8s4
Note: This firmware is ONLY for Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G361F devices with AOG1 build.
Of course I don't own the firmware and I didn't root it, I just keep the right to upload it.

Pre rooted
Hey,can you find SM-G361F pre rooted version for this device?
BaseBand G361FXXU1AQA1
Build number G361FXXU1AQD1
I can't find it anywhere
I love what you're doing. All other pre-rooted ROMS are full of trash. Could you make it for G361FXXU1APA3?
Hum... OK guys thanks for the love but I have to remember you something.
I am not a developer yet and truly not a ROM unbloater: I didn't "disinfect" the firmware, I just reuploaded it (well after a fast check, I found I've already prevented about that, just read the thread please...)
So no dudes I can't do that, sorry. I COULD eventually do that, removing bloats and extract system image to make a flashable shouldn't be as complicated, but I do not have time.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Hey Atronid, you rock! I have the AOL1 but intend to give it a try cause I already rooted it but it's full of bloast. Do you know if I can flash another pre-rooted firmware considering I did this already? could this be harmul? -brickful? )-

I don't think doing this will brick your device, but careful. Ensure the usal requirements are here (OEM unlock, USB debug just in case...) and you made a backup, also in case something goes wrong.
But if you're rooted you got plenty tools that can remove bloats from your device, but I hope you're not easily scared because once removed system may spam that the bloat you just uninstalled has stopped. You can get rid of that by just rebooting your phone.
So you don't need to reflash any firmware if you just want to clean your phone up.
Yes, you're right. The problem was that the apps I tried to remove other apps weren't the right ones, but now that's sorted thankfully On the other hand, as I couldn't find an Android 6 ROM for my phone (not even a sorry recovery.... ) in the end I set my mobile to install new apps on the sd card by default. Actually it works similarly to the app Link to SD, so a part of it is on the SD card and the rest (like the data it generates) in the device storage, despite all the tutorials sell this method as "Installation directly on your SD card". You need a computer and official Android development tools (SDK). In case it's of any interest for anyone I'll include the tutorial I followed, but it turns out I'm not allowed to post links yet, so the title of the article was Cómo instalar aplicaciones DIRECTAMENTE en la tarjeta SD from androidjefe website. In English, How to: Force Android to automatically install apps to SD card from softonic website
I hope it helps

Read first post. I don't think it will work if you have a build other than AOG1.
And you should not use TWRP to flash like this. Use Odin and Download mode instead.
Will this rooted firmware work with my SM-G361F phone? Need advice...
Hi there,
Will this rooted version work with my phone?
I'm new here and need some help and advice re Rooting this Samsung phone SM-G361F - I'M NO TECHIE but have ability to following instructions and make connections etc. My phone details are below.
Baseband G361FXXU1ASC1
Build LMY48B.G361FXXU1AQD1
Patch level is 2017-4-01
Security software version ASKS 1.2_161011
I did once try rooting a Samsung tablet using Odin and it all worked OK, but that was a while ago.
How important is it to get the identical build or baseband? Anything else I need to check?
I was trying initially trying to change the phone's MAC address, as I was experimenting with the phone, however I could not use an App to do this as it stated phone that the phone needs Rooting first for App to work. Also tried Terminal Emulator app but it kept failing to work as I was probably, unable to input the text commands required correctly.
I hope someone can please help and advise me on this.
M
Kind regards
