[Q] Google I/O - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So who's watching Google I/O or maybe attending? What are your expectations for the next few days? What are you most interested about?

I'll be listening. I'm interested in the keynote speech that is only about nine hours away. This is when we will figure out if KLP or JB 4.3 will be announced, I'm sure. It may be on some of the threads but the Google I/O 2013 app is available on the play store. It's worth checking out. I learned they have a segment on rooting Glass.

Google I/O

Anyone watching the keynote from Google I/O??
Jelly bean is A LOT more than a few bug fixes, increased speed and fluidity and a ton of features.
Nexus Q looks great!!!
Nexus 7 is fantastic!!!! I must have one! Now!!!!
The google glass demonstration was the best piece of PR I have ever seen, well played Google, well played......
Any thoughts from the community?
Hopefully the S3 sees JB soon as this hardware deserves the best software.
They said they sent out the PDK to oems and hardware partners a few weeks ago so maybe Sammy are already working on it! Fingers crossed!!!!

I wonder about glass though. It's quite terminatoresque for private use. For business and educational use it's great.
At 1500 dollars I wouldn't buy it but if they gave one away free to everyone I'd be jealous!
I reckon its the future though.

Google wants to follow us during travel. Wants us to upload our pictures... I used face recognition today on the s3. Although I am really excited about all the uses I can also imagine things going horribly wrong.
Glass can and will become dirt cheap. 1500 now for a Bluetooth camera? I think not.
The nexus 7 was the real star of the show for me, 1.3ghz quad tegra 3 with 12 core gpu. Wow.
I must have one.
And ya the whole glass thing is very big brother.
They know everything you do....

Let's hope Samsung will push jelly bean ota soon.
Congrats all developers getting nexus devices.

Im not expecting JB on the S3 until the end of the year, any sooner will be a bonus. You dont buy an extensively customised flagship phone and expect a super fast update, SO much needs updating for JB, it will take a while.
As iphone 5 arrives so will jb
google has done some great work especially with project butter and project glass
I really want a pure Google phone.. In don't know why I keep buying these themed phones lol

Ya I'm glad I kept my galaxy nexus so I can get a bit of jelly bean come mid July!
It looks amazing!

It does worry me how Google keep a tab on everything but that's why I purposely disable location/stat services and whatever else I can. Heck I don't even keep my you tube logged in nor do I use it on my mobile.
But I'm paranoid.
On weekends you will find me on my roof smoking whilst wearing a tin foil hat. Dat der Google watching me.

Did you get a $25 playstore credit with your purchase..

like google gave you on the n7?
Unfortunately no. I was hoping they would do that again, but it appears that was just with the Nexus 7.
No credit is given, but you do get the first Ice Age movie from Google Play Movies.

The $25 Credit that came with the Nexus 7 was intended to help promote Google Play and get you started using the service.

Maybe it was only in certain countries (I'm in the US.). I can imagine these types of deals with the movie industry are quite complicated.
I opened the built-in Movies app. It showed up on the top under My Movies.

I'm in the UK and the Ice Age movie is listed under "my movies" could be a regional rights thing as to whether or not you get access to it.
Pity about the $25, I think that's finished for the N7 as well as the N10 now.

Yeah, the Play Store credit was only on the Nexus 7 and ended on 30 September 2012.
I also did get Ice Age free with the N10.

As nice as that would have been, it wasn't just to familiarize new users with the service. It was to get them started on the habit of spending money in the store. Google Play was still only a couple of months old when the N7 came out. Including gift cards with the (then) latest Nexus device just made sense in promoting the service.

Google Edition Android 4.3 Discussion

4.3 leaked for the nexus 4:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/18/...utm_source=Feed_Classic&utm_campaign=Engadget
Google press conference scheduled for July 24th:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/17/...utm_source=Feed_Classic&utm_campaign=Engadget
So it appears 4.3 will be officially released on the 24th.
I would give a big +1 to Google if the Google Edition devices revieced that on the release day.
When do you think we will get the update? Thoughts and opinions.

I thought Google said that updates for the GE devices (S4 and One) would be handled by Samsung and HTC respectively?

Samsung and HTC are in charge of the updates. Hopefully we get 4.3 the same day as the Nexus devices since there have been leaks of the S4 and One running 4.3 :fingers-crossed:
My prediction
7/24 nexus 7 version 2 with 4.3 announced
7/24 4.3 releases for Nexus 4 and OG n7
sometime before 8/15 GE gets it
^^ i dont remember google releasing an OS on the day of its announcement

Doesn't google usually announce a device with a new android version (e.g. Nexus 4 / 4.2) - then roll out the updates when the device ships (a couple weeks later)
I can't exactly recall how exactly it goes down, it's been awhile

Seeing your sig with the HD2 brought tears to my eyes. I do believe the HD2 is the only phone I'll ever miss.

This simply isn't true..if you remember Google announced ICS and it was awhile before that rolled out and source was released. Then with jellybean it was about a week or two before things were updated to that. And then again with 4.2 they waited until they released the nexus 4. So most of the time after Google announces a new OS version they don't release it a couple days after.

Look at the times on shown on the clock in the screenshots on the play store. The nexus 4 and seven showed 4:20 when introduced on the play store. They were 4.2 devices. The GE One and S4 show 4:30, probably meaning they are 4.3 devices.
The nexus 4 now shows 4:23 on the primary product image. There is a shot of google now showing a time of 12:33 and weather for san francisco. It's also notable because it shows an HSPA icon and a nearly empty battery. All other screens do not show a data icon and show a full battery. The photo shown in the banner on the devices page shows a time of 12:45.

Nexus 7 2013 buy it or pass?

The new Nexus 7 is thinner by 1.8mm, and narrower by 2.75mm on each side of the bezel. The New N7 is pack packing a Snapdragon S4 pro processor, 1920x1200(323ppi) display, 2gb ram, and android 4.3 jelly bean. somehow the capacity for the MAH of the battery didn't make the conference this year. i wonder why?. and don't give me non- of that "the average consumer don't know what to do with that information" BS. This is a Google product not an apple product.

I'm passing... Don't get me wrong, I want one, but I don't $230 want one. I have a 32gb first gen and its does everything I want it do and its not overclocked yet so there is more I can squeeze out if I wanted to. I'm happy enough with my n7 I'll skip a generation this time.
