I tried to use SuperOneClick to root my phone and it seemed to work. The program came back saying I successfully rooted my phone.
I then went to ClockworkMod to install cyanogen and clicked on the appropriate boxes to begin the download process for cyanogen 6.0 stable mod and ran it.
My phone rebooted and started to run some scripts.
Now, the phone just reboots to the green mytouch screen and continues to loop like that and I have no idea what to do.
I can get into fastboot on the mt3g and when I do, my pc makes the sound that states that the phone is connected but when I try to get into the mytouch, using adb, my pc cant access it but when I plug up my G2, I can see the serial number and such showing that it is connected.
I tried to follow the fastboot driver installation page but it didn't seem to work.
Bottom line is I would really enjoy a functional MT3G in either the regular form or cyanogen (which is why im in this predicament now )
For the the record,
I was running 1.6 but got the OTA update for 2.2 before I ended up blowing up my phone.
Thanks for reading this and any aid would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATED:
I found something called SAPPIMG.NBH that allowed me load Android 1.5 onto my phone. I now am back to a functioning device but still, I am super stuck on trying to get cyanogen onto my device. Any helpful hints? From what you read above, did I miss something?
Thanks again.
... Sadness... I have been bashing my face against this mt3g and haven't been able to get cyanogenmod on this phone for the life of me. I have tried all of the builds from 5.08 up to RC1 of 6.10 and I just get the infinite loop at the cyanogen boot up screen. I even tried to flash 2.23.XXXX radio to see if it gets past the boot loop and it does not. Anybody have any insights into my issue?
Thanks,
You must go into recovery mode(boot up by holding down home + power). That will get you to Clockworkmod recovery(I am assuming since you said you downloaded using Clockwork app). From there you need to wipe cache, and anything else you can wipe. Then try installing Cyanogenmod after that. Without wiping the there is not enough space to install and it causes a bootloop.
I'm in the same boat, I'm stuck in a boot loop and I cannot get any ROM to fully load in. I'm using clockwork recovery Radio 2.22 32B.
I tried wiping everything but that still doesnt seem to work. I noticed when I try wiping Davlik cache I dont see any message on the bottom. I thought it would normally give me some sort of message stating that it is wiping davlik or something so maybe it isnt actually wiping it?
Is there some other way to make sure davlik is wiped? Or something else I can do. I just want the phone to boot up at this point. I can get into recovery but thats it.
I know I shouldve done a backup but dumb me was such in a rush I completely forgot, I know im a idiot...
Het I found that same .img file and also reverted back to 1.5 then just went up to 2.2 not sure what was wrong but Rom I put on just went into a boot loop. Maybe it was clockwork recovery.

the padawan becomes the master... Sort of...
The problem is that you cannot go directly to 2.2 from 1.5. You have to do the incremental upgrades that take you from 1.5 to 1.6 then 1.6 to 2.2
Ok, to all of you that have read my previous thread about my phone. (washinhmachine-accident, batterydrain-issue, recoverymode-problems)
you now what trouble I have had before with this phone.
I went into Rom Manager and choosed install Rom from SD-card (had cynagoenmod there). And wiped everything, then pressed OK...
...The phone started in recoverymode and like all 200+-times before it went all black, couldnt wake up.
"**** this phone" I thought and put it in my pocket for an half-hour, then when I pressed the powermenu, I saw that the phone had Cynagoen mod has been installed properly!!
Amazing as it seems! I did press the trackball sometimes during the blackscreen, nothing seems to happend. I must had the best luck to manage to press it so that it started the installation. (or is this done automaticly when installing from rom manager for you who have tryied this?)
So clearly the recovery is there in my phone! But the screen dont work at the same time!....very very strange! And now I want to try to install the nightlys instead, but dont now if I really are going to do something while pressing the trackballbutton?
If I want to install kernels, googleapps can I install the the same way? Or is it only the ROM-files that can be installed via rom manager from that option??
I think your wildfire doesn't want you to get rid off it, which is why its doing all this magical stuff , I don't think you can instal kernels from rom manager, you can try though.

Haha, yeah it is a very magical device! Like magic muschrooms, I think thats why I am so addicted to it
@ Kevin: I think that the Gapps flashed like it should with the same method, that meens that its ok to flash other things that Roms with that option.
The thing is that I cant see the flashingprocess, I cant see if something happends. Just wait till the phone restarts again, if it does.
I pressed the trackball a few times now aswell, seems that I pressed in right order
Well then nice work, better remember the buttons you need to press , I'm sure you know each item in recovery after using it heaps anyway haha. Just google images of each option in recovery menu if youre stuck lol

haha, yeah I have been thinking of that aswell, but glad I now how it looks without images. Just hope that the buttonpresses are registrated each times, so I dont choose another option instead
The Wildfire is a weird one for sure. I can't for the life of me get it to flash different recovery images or boot images. Just getting NAND write errors. It's rooted with Unrevoked and has Clockwork recovery already installed. Might be because of flashing the new radio image, that it broke something, so gonna try and install original RUU and root again to see if it gets better. Kinda getting to hate the Wildfire a bit, cause there's other issues as well. With the Tattoo I have no issues, so I prefer to use that phone atm.
okay well a couple months ago I permarooted my phone and flashed a custom rom but I can't remember which one I used all I can say is that I cannot do anything no more with my phone in a way because I keep trying to turn s-on but superuser is not letting me because it's basically broken. I try to open up superuser to see whats wrong but it just shows me a white screen. so I find an update for superuser but I don't know how to install it anyway but the clockwork recovery mode way. So I try to reboot into clockwork recovery but my phone just gets stuck in the mytouch 4g screen and never boots into recovery, so I am forced to take out the batttery and put it back in. I need an answer by today hopefully

I think you update superuser in the market. Try flashing clockworkmod recovery from the ROM Manager app, then boot into recovery (if you need to) and see if it works. If not, I have no clue what your problem is. Sorry, hope I helped. Press thanks if I did
Forgot to mention that when I try to flash recovery or anything because super user is not working I can't install clockrecovery or go Into it with bootloader because it just freezes at touch 4g screen

OK. Are you sure you are rooted/S-OFF? Boot into bootloader by holding power + volume down to see if you have S-OFF.
Yup it still is permarooted

Hmmm.....try rooting with ./gfree, it worked for me. I am not sure what your problem is if it doesn't work.
I think the solution is to update super user but I can't update super user unless I'm in the clockwork recovery mode and stuff which I can't get into unless there is another way to update super user because when I open super user it just gives me a blank white screen

Super user is an app. Go to the market.

okay so I was able to get superuser updated but now when I try to update the su binary it keeps saying fail when trying to gain root access
sorry for double post but I need this done by today because I sold it rooted and now I am trying to do s-on, unpermaroot, then unroot
oh btw my superuser binary is not updating it keeps saying gaining root access fail
EDIT:Turns out all I had to do was read a guide that was posted about my by an admin or mod so it's fixed now
So I recently wiped my Atrix so I could install RedPill v4 as I was getting tired of Cyanogenmod. It installed fine, but when I booted I had to log into motoblur. No biggie, as I had an account already made.
For some reason though, I can't log into my account. A progress bar pops up with the title "Logging into Motoblur", but it hangs at about 95%. I tried booting into CWM to install a different rom, but for some reason I can't get past the part where Fastboot appears on the screen.
Is there a way to bypass motoblur, or otherwise fix CWM so I can flash something else?
Thanks!
You can skip the motoblur setup. I think you either press menu then skip, or back out. Can't remember but I skipped it all the time.

Ok, I'm new at this, here's what I've got, hopefully someone can shed some light:
-My RAZR M is fully encrypted
-It is successfully rooted
-I have installed Rom Manager with CWM 6 as the custom recovery
-I want to make a NANDROID backup (to eventually install Carbon), but whenever I try to reboot into the backup/recovery mode, it won't, it goes to what I think is the ADB screen? Not sure tho, this screen says "Connect data USB." Then, when I do, it just changes state and says USB connected, nothing else happens. Then I just reboot the phone normally and everything still works.
So after googling and researching a lot, I'm assuming since my phone is encrypted it won't access the CWM because it never asks me for my password to decrypt the internal storage. Ok cool, but here's my question now tho; if I perform a Factory Reset from the settings menu, will it actually do the reset and reinstall itself since I have CWM installed??
Thanks for any help.
Anyone got any ideas??
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
Hmm. Is this screen where it says "Device is LOCKED" mean that my bootloader is locked? Btw, this is the screen that I referred to in my first post. It comes up whenever I try to select "Recovery"
Your bootloader is locked and on that version it can not be unlocked... So... unfortunately you can not install a custom recovery... Well you can use safestrap but the ROM selection is very limited...
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
So you say I cannot install a custom recovery, do you mean a different ROM that I would "recover" to install it? Or do you mean ClockworkMod (and its various counterparts)? Because in the ROM Manager app, it says I have CWM 6.0.4.4 as my "current recovery" (see attached screenshot)
Please forgive me if this is a dumb question lol but like I said, I'm new at this whole thing
It does say that huh unsure as to why... i do have a locked M around here somewhere ill see if it does the same thing to it...When I say custom recovery I do refer to cmw n twrp... With a locked bootloader you can not install those... we have for safestrap as a recovery for locked bootloaders it's been a year since I used it but I believe you can make backups on it... I would just sit tight and.wait on kit kat it shouldn't be to much longer... till then just freeze all the bloat and use xpossed to your liking... When kk comes out I'm sure development will pick up for locked bootloaders again..anyone else with more experience care to provide more in depth assistance..

So any further advice on what I can or can't do?
I would like to perform a factory reset on my device to get rid of this stupid encryption (it slows everything down), but with CWM installed (supposedly?), can I still do a factory reset? I guess what I'm trying to get at is what does the factory reset option use to re-flash everything from? The recovery partition where CWM is now supposedly installed? Will that affect the factory reset?
I hope this makes sense, I don't want to brick my phone...
Alrighty, for anyone interested:
I never tried the factory reset. What I did do is try the OTA KitKat update just like 2 hours ago. That was a mistake; upon downloading and automatically rebooting to start the upgrade, my phone would not reboot, it got stuck at the AP Fastboot screen with the error code 0x56 (see attached picture).
So, I powered off and powered on my phone, at which point it powered up normally, until after about 2 minutes on the home screen, it automatically rebooted itself (to presumably "continue" trying to install the OTA). Then it got stuck again on the AP Fastboot screen. This continued over and over and I soon realized I soft bricked my phone.
Did some further research, found the House of Moto program (http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/28162-house-of-moto-22/) which saved my life. If anyone is having any issues similar to the situation I was having, or just issues with the KitKat OTA, this House of Moto program will restore your phone to completely stock. Just follow the instructions on that web page exactly. Kudos to the dude who developed that.
