Installing kernel with no updater script? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

How would one go about installing a custom kernel that does not have an updater script(non-flashable)?
Thanks!

Oke, i had to install it manualy after flashing the file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190. CF-Auto-Root only works for the MDM rom, all ME ones and newer need the file in the link. You are probably not rooted.

Hey guys, just did 4.3 update through my settings and now my SU binary isn't installed... Can I reroot on my phone or does it require a PC this time? Thanks.

Do a backup and reroot
Have to reroot using PC though? Or is there a way to do it on my phone since it was previously rooted and I have TWRP. Etc.

First after the update you need to install TWRP (with a pc) use the nexus toolkit and download SuperSU v1.51update to you phone and flash it with TWRP

Yeah you see when you update via OTA it will flash the newer version of the recovery.
You can unlock its screen via volume up and power.
As suggested try using a Toolkit to do it but if that fails then go to the bootloader and flash it manually.

[Q] Reverting from CyanogenMOD back to stock touchwiz?

So, not TOO long ago I used the CyanogenMOD installer app to put CyanogenMOD on my Galaxy S4(Sprint).
I've searched all over the place, perhaps I'm just not looking in the right direction.. Now I'm turning to you guys.
While I like CyanogenMOD I really don't feel as if all of the features you give up with stock TouchWIZ is worth it.
I would love to be pointed in the direction on how to revert back to pure stock.
You flash a tw ROM. It really can't get any easier than that.

How do you do that if the phone isn't recognized by ODIN? I installed CM using their auto-installer and now Odin doesn't see it.
My phone wont boot now and I am trying to re-flash stock but I can't find anything but .tar files for ODIN.
Try reinstalling the drivers. There isn't suppose to be anything but tar files for Odin. Like there aren't suppose to be anything but zip files for recoveries.

Would I be able to do this in Clockwork Recovery? Flashing with ODIN always leaves me with a FAILED since I moved over to Cyanogenmod.

On Odin are you trying to use MF9 or MDL or MDC while it is failing. I think you are trying to Odin an4.2 tar when you were on 4.3 previously which is impossible.

Yes, I did OTA the 4.3 update, and yes I was trying to use a 4.2 ROM. If I'm understanding what you're trying to convey correctly.
Right now I'm downloading this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567353
I shouldn't have any issues in this scenario right? I'm on sprint if that matters at all.
Well there your problem lol. You will be fine flashing that ROM, but didnt you say you wanted to go back to complete stock as in no root? You would need to Odin the MK2 tar to archive that.

Yeah, it has the MK2 file in the posting, so I should be all set from there on out, right?
It only has a custom debloated ROM in that thread. To get the full stock unroooted MK2 you need the file from this thread.

Well you would think so but when I installed CM it changed my device number somehow, or how ever it is recognized in download mode and I can no longer use ODIN. Is there a way to get it back to being recognized?

I have tried that already, I managed after some work to get a rom to flash through the recovery but it still isn't recognized through ODIN when in download mode, it is seen when the ROM is active though.

I have tried that as well. I have been trying to find something in the forums but haven't found anything.

[Q] Firmware upgrade encountered a issue.

So I tried it using the root workaround for 4.4 NB1 and it failed and now it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." I downloaded Kies but it is saying unsupported device and it doesn't sense my phone. What do I do?!
The best bet would be to retry the Odin flash

Never mind. I realize he said to retry it not to Odin back to stock. Also I took it to best buy and they fixed it all up. Apparently they train specialists there that can even fix a bricked device (I think).

Maybe you have a bad download of CF Autoroot. Try downloading it again from Chainfires archive.
