att update? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

i think it was last week att roll out a update for s4 and i hear it fix the lag and heat issues? than i try to update but it failed...is there another way to update again? because the message won't pop up anymore. FYI my s4 is rooted and i removed all the att bloatware without backing them up ;/

May be you can restore back to factory via Kies, then check software update again. If it say wait for 24hrs or something, just change the date .

That is why the update fails. You will have to restore back to factory with Kies or Odin.

oh but is the update worth it tho? do the new roms come with those updates?

It doesn't fix the 'heat' issues?
It supposedly doesnt even fix the lag according to the changelog.

LG G2 - New Owner

Hello All!
I am going to be receiving my LG G2 (Verizon model) tomorrow. I couldn't be more excited! The phone is coming rooted and will have the hotspot provision in place. I have older phones rooted in the past, but have never "unrooted".
With the KitKat update coming soon - from what I understand... what will I need to do to update to KitKat without bricking my phone?
Factory reset? Unroot? This has me a little worried, being I haven't played with the phone much - yet. Hopefully you guys can help me out on what I've got myself into.
Thanks in advance!
I have the same-rooted and i am running a custom rom. I plan on waiting for a custom rom of the released official kit kat for verizon. I don't want all the extra "fluff" they push with it.

if you rooted, you can just freeze the update with TiBu (its called "software update..")
if u Verizon then I would keep this handy

Assuming TiBu is Titanium Backup?
Also is anyone aware of Verizon unrooting videos?
Does the phone brick just when it receives the OTA notification or only when trying to install it (in all variants of the G2)?

[Q] SGH-I337 Galaxy S4 no wifi error during 5.0.1 upgrade HELP!

Ok so I received the OTA update for lollipop for my s4 from at&t and after downloading it numerous times it would only fail during install. Eventually it went beyond 25% and went to a black screen for 15 minutes. I pulled the battery as it was unresponsive and after rebooting my wifi wont even turn on anymore. I have the ucugoc3 baseband which is for 5.0.1 I believe but it says that I'm still on 4.4.4 android version. I am somewhat savy when it comes to smartphones as I have experience with rooting htc and galaxy phones but I as well as my local att store could not get the new update to flash. It always gives an error at 25% during install. Phone was rooted before ota came along and I unrooted using SuperSU before attempting the OTA installation. What can I do? My phone is useless to me without wifi. Thanks!
Try updating again via this method here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3075548
You may have to odin restore to NB1.
That didn't work either.

Official Verizon update???

Hey there, everybody. I'm currently running a manually odexed version of the stock N900VVRUEOF1 firmware, with bootloader unlock, TWRP 2.8.7.0, and am both rooted and running Xposed framework...
Out of nowhere, I see a long-forgotten icon, in my notification tray. It's saying there's a software update available! I wanted to make sure this wasn't some fluke (or to make sure I wasn't dreaming), so I checked out Verizon's update list.
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/software-updates/
Lo, and behold! There's an actual, honest-to-goddess update! (Listed as: LRX21V.N900VVRSEPL1)
However, there is little to no information on what it is or does, apart from the ever-vague "latest security updates"...
Fearing a potential planned obsolescence (like the Note 7) or it wrecking my custom root/recovery/bootloader status, I haven't installed it.
I could try to unpack it all and go digging through it, but that takes way more time or energy than I can currently devote to this sort of thing...
Does anybody know what is involved with this update or have any other information as-to what it includes?

Would love to know as well. However I am not rooted nor do I want to.
I was honestly shocked when I saw the notification.
I'm tempted to go through with the update but since I like how I have my phone setup at the moment, im really hesitant to install it.
Would love to hear from anyone that has!

Thanks for the update, GoNavyMike.
That's about all I could find as well. :-/
In an effort to get a better idea of what has changed, would you have happened to have installed this? If so, would you say that there's any noticeable difference in performance or features, apart from the obvious potential app updates?
I'm all for the performance fixes and whatnot, but I really don't wanna lose root. Does this patch over current root methods, bump the Lollipop build up to 5.1 (sdk21), or anything like that? These are the kinds of things that a number of folks (myself included) are curious about. If you have updated, any insight you might provide would be very valuable!
Thanks for your time!

Was shocked to see myself.
I'm having trouble to disable the notification.
Tried using disable services from the playstore and unticking system update from Google framework also tried the Disable system updates app for rooted devices. Also the tick mark to hide notifications is grayed out on System Update in applications.
Im running Stock VRUEOF1 with TWRP and rooted.
Any suggestions?
My GF and I both have the Note 3. Mine is rooted and her's is stock, so I told her to go ahead and install it. Yeah, it's just a security update. I decided to update mine and it fails with the 402 error. Likely because I'm rooted. I need to look into deleting the update and blocking OTA.
BEWARE
Hey so I've got the 900v and it was rooted stock deodexed with a few rom toolbox tweaks. After the updated I was soft bricked - had to revert back to factory with Odin - no fun.

I used titanium backup pro and I froze the software update and it removed the annoying update pop up and stoped the updating from happening.

Thanks for the heads-up. This is the sort of thing I was worried about. Firstly, whether being rooted would mess with the update (perhaps it's just a partial update...?) and secondly, that I'd be able to keep root.
Assuming that your GF is okay with you borrowing her phone (which IS a rather large assumption, for nearly anybody), would you mind trying to see if current rooting methods still work for the new update?

I'm sorry to hear about having to do the full backup and restore... According to what yourself and xm41907 have posted, it apparently checks for full stock. Not sure how you managed to get as far as you did, but at least we know that this update doesn't play nice with rooted phones.
Performance/security improvements are great and all, but there are plenty of Xposed mods and manual tweaks to take care of that-- as long as there's still root.
If there's anybody who doesn't care whether they have root or not, I'd love to hear if current rooting methods still work after the new update, or if this update patches over or current for exploits.
Disclaimer: If you update, you do so at your own risk. However, we'd love to hear more about the details and any root-related insight.
Thanks, everybody!

I can ask if she is ok attempting root. I've been out of it since the Verizon Note 3 first got root capability. This brought me back to it seeing the bootloader can be unlocked and roms put on. I'm jazzed to try AryaMod !
I'm worried about what specifically it means by "Security Updates". I'm still on the OLD unlimited data plan. Because of this, I have to use FoxFi to tether as Verizon doesn't allow it. I'm worried this update may block it.
Can anyone confirm FoxFi still bypasses Verizon's tethering check post update? My Note 3 is totally stock, not rooted, and updated to the last patch(before this one).
Thanks!

For those wondering...
I went ahead and did the update. Foxfi is still working post update
Thanks everyone for your continued feedback about this update. I am still clinging on to my Note 3. This is most certainly my last subsidized phone on VZW with my UDP.
In any event, I was just as shocked as you guys to see the system update notification. I went straight to Tibackup and froze the "System updates" app, which has tamed the notifications.
I did the update 2 days ago on my non-rooted note 3.
Everything is pretty much the same I dont notice any difference really.
Only thing is it seems my battery life has become worse.

Update for everybody with the Note 3 I don't know if it's coincidence or not after updating but when I'm in the YouTube app and have my charger connected to my phone it will say dock is connected really quick and then disappear it will probably do this two or three times a day just wanted to throw this out there and let people know that there might be a bug in the update I will check my USB port and see if it's clean and not damaged

Samsung Urgent Update?

I just received an urgent update from Samsung for Device Quality Agent. I had to quickly attend to something else, returned to my phone and the option to update was gone. I've gone into the Galaxy Apps and went to updates and there was nothing there. Is there a way to get it back?
Might be the update for the red-tint issue they were talking about. I am sure we will see more about this soon.

Yeah I have Verizon also, no love. This was killing me. I downloaded and install the updated APK manually. I can't post links. Go to APKMirror and search for DQA. The right version is 1-1-13-10. Resolved all my errors.
Make sure you enable Unknown Sources in Lock Screen and Security.

Thanks! I read some people rebooted and got it, so gave that a shot, and sure enough, it came in instantly when it powered back up. That might help some others too.
For sure it had at least something to do with Bixby. Went from having to double push Bixby button to single push to get Bixby to open.

Update for S8 Active [G892U] Firmware S1ARB3 (2/24/2018)

See picture
Model: G892U
file size: 98.67MB
security patch level: February 1, 2018

My Samsung Pay gets very laggy after the update. Even after the full wiped. Anyone else experienced the same issue?
My camera now crashes when trying to open after the update. Anybody have this issue? I've tried restarting, clearing the cache, starting in safe mode, and even factory reset. This is really pissing me off. I can use other camera apps but the stock camera crashes. I wanted to try odin back to stock but it keeps getting stuck on file analysis. Please help!
Mine works fine after the update. Therefore my Samsung Pay is still same stuttered since last update.

How about contact Samsung for a warranty replacement? I suppose they give you a new unit if they couldn't help you to get the camera work.
