I wanna use it on the AOSP Rom I'm on. Since the AOSP Camera is messed up.

I found a link to the ASOP camera.

I know it's on the S3 forum but I tried it on my Nexus 4 to make sure it works and it does.

This is the third time this has happened now. I flash a ROM on my N7 then i look to restore a backup and it says file not found. But I've made a backup! How the hell can i fix this?

Is the backup made in 4.1.2 and the new rom is 4.2 (or the other way around) ?
If yes, then I'm sorry to inform you that the path where the backup reside is different in 4.1.2 and 4.2 ... so there are some steps required to use the respective files. More than that, switching in between 4.1.2 and 4.2 will require you to alter the mounting points.
No I'm on 4.2 and did a backup of stock using cwm. Now cwm cant find my backup

What version of CWM.. This is a known bug on a older version. I would suggest you check that maybe even re-download and flash cwm again. Get it from cwm web site not the one in rom manager self install....
Good Luck
I got the latest one, i will flash the stock image again. Third time lucky! Thanks for your help

Just tried again. no backups found. but when looking in my SD i have a backup. What should i mount to be able to restore?
So I can't update to 4.2.1 since I deleted a few of the Google apps to save battery life... Id rather not flash a stock ROM img and loose everything.. If anyone knows where I can get stock gapps bundled up for download I'd appreciate it

Hey, so I dislike how the Nexus 7 started to lag after the update and plan to go root with custom ROM and get some of that root goodness. On my phone I would use titanium backup, but my tablet isn't rooted yet so that's a no go.
I just want to keep my apps and the data before jumping in. I don't want to start over in world of goo!
Thanks in advanced.

You can root your stock rom before flashing a new one, in fact, it's a prerequisite. After rooting, backup using titanium backup

If I helped you, please hit the thanks button!
Use Carbon. It's made by the same guy as CWM and doesn't require root. Be sure to move the backups to your computer though because rooting will require you to unlock the boot loader which will wipe the device clean.

Oh wow, I wasn't aware of Carbon. That's awesome.
By the way, what ROMs do you recommend as being the most stable and overall best in your opinion?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I've used CyanogenMod, AOKP, and Paranoid Android. Right now I'm using CM because I feel it is much closer to stock with a few tweaks and I have gotten a little better battery life out of it. I also use Matr1x kernel. I recommend trying different ROMs and kernels out and see which combination gives you what you're looking for.

ok so I've searched and didnt get any results maybe you guys can help. I had a GS3 rooted with a few custom roms i ran, but i fell in love with photosphere while using these roms.
So is there any way i can get photosphere on my galaxy s4? Its already rooted and I'm currently testing a few roms. But would love to have photosphere on my phone. Thanx in advanced for the help.
I've been looking for a working photosphere but it seems like it currently doesn't work for this device.

I know Slim Bean comes with the option to install photosphere as an add on universally for the rom - personally haven't tried installing it with the GS4 so I don't know for sure if it works. Check out the add ons page for slimbean!

The next ota update is rumored to include new camera firmware. Here's a thread from another gs4 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270416

the apk from http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...a-from-google-play-edition-devices-root-only/ works - don't even need root! Installs as a separate camera application, so you can get the best of both worlds.
I have it working on my Sprint S4. Only problem is that this camera app can't store to SD - only to internal storage.

I have a Nexus 4 running on 4.4.2 update base ROM. I've unlocked and rooted my phone, with multiple root tests to be sure. I've also downloaded the Franco kernel. Though its not working, so I assume its cause its a nightly version. From the information I've found those don't always work.
Back to my question though. My devices is a Mako, which goes along with being a Nexus 4 right. So why is it when I downloaded the cyanogenmod mako latest ROM it didn't work? Came up with an error comparing device and product as being mako, and some status 7 thing. I did a restore and now I'm here.
I've tried to install it view clockwork recovery, and from the ROM manager app. Both came up with those errors. Am I doing something wrong?

It looks like you don't have the latest version of cwm on you're phone. Try updating you're CWM to the newest version. Or install twrp recovery ( newest version and try again.
Be warned if you install twrp recovery then you're backup made in cwm recovery wont work should you wish to use it.
Below is a screen shot showing you're problem.
Phone : Nexus 4 /Rom : cataclysm / Kernel : Stock.
Thanks. I updated clockwork and it worked perfectly. Though its extremely annoying that I don't get my apps and data and all that I would normally get when doing a regular Google based ROM. Is there a way to get all that with custom ROMs? Do I just need to do a flash of Google play store or something?

If you flash Gapps immediately after flashing the ROM, it should give you the options to download your apps and system settings during initial setup, if that's what you're asking.

You need to flash gapps package for google apps like playstore, gmail..etc. Link are often given together in the OP of the rom thread.
Excellent. Thank you all. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for those! You've all been a great help.

One more question. Kernels. I know some are ment purely for custom ROMs. But is there a place I can get Kernels for a stock ROM? I haven't decided on a custom ROM yet, but I'd like to tweak this one as much as I can before.

They support both, the exception being with CM kernels.
